Oh, oh, oh! Do not trust Juliet!! She's asking you to MURDER someone! And these messages about murder - when is it OK? Why should Jack cross that line with so little info? Excellent points all. Which makes me wonder if all is as it seems. Whatever else Juliet is, I don't think she's ever struck any of us as stupid. So why take such a risk with someone she barely knows, especially when that dossier undoubtedly told her Jack turned in his own father for being a bad doctor? I think there's more going on here, myself.

Oh, yes he is a bad man. Jack's a dirty, naughty, bad bad man who needs to be spanked. Huh. You make a good point there. Go to it, Monnie. I am definitely up for the task. ;D

From Michael Ausiello's interview with Carlton Cuse and Damon Lindelof regarding the death of Mr. Eko:
Cuse: When Adewale came on the show, he didn’t want to make a long-term commitment to a series. We love him and so we agreed that he would come on the show and then we would find a time in which his arc would come to an end. And we sort of felt after a lot of conversations with him — most of which took place at the end of the spring last year — that we would finish his character somewhere in [these first] six episodes. And as we started talking about what was going to really help the drama of these six episodes, we thought, “Well, this is the perfect place to do it.” As we said, we all kind of went into this [with the idea] that it was only going to be for a limited period of time.

The best Jack can do is try to stay true to himself and keep his eye on his own end game (gaining his freedom and that of his friends). One thing I feel sure of: neither Ben nor Juliet have Jack's best interests in mind. They are trying to use him, and don't really care how they might hurt him, or his friends.

Wahhhhhhhhhhh - they killed Eko!
But why? He stared down the black smoke last season, after all. He was building a church on the island. Had he lost faith again?
And why go to all the trouble of introducing last season's Tailies just to kill them off one by one?
Eko was a great character, but his potential was wasted.
Have Rose and/or Bernard appeared at all this season?
Bummer.
If Jack kills Benry on the operating table, it will destroy him. I can't see him doing it, being a doctor is really central to Jack; but what would happen if the anti-Benry conspirators threaten Sawyer and Kate if Jack doesn't kill off Benry?
GAIL
Amen.

Action!Eko. "You do not know who I am." Damn. Yeah, I guess not. Hmmm. Confess to that? "I'm suddenly feeling very stupid." Heee! I like newly emphasized woman. And her self-involved slightly dim companion is at least a bit of comic relief. Also, I remember thinking they should look at the other TV's when they were last here. I liked Locke's little grin and "I guess he'll be expecting us" moment. I like Locke best when he's mischeivous. See, this is the problem with surrounding the guy with mind games. How is he to be sure that the movie of your cue card speech isn't another mind game? He can't be, nor can we. Plus, you want him to surgically kill Benry? What about the concept of "doctor" are you people not getting? You owe Yeme a church - ahhhhh, that's why he was building one! What a beautiful tree. That is just a stunningly beautiful, wicked cool tree. Are you ready, Eko? Hmmmm. Ready to confess or ready to die? Ah, cool Eko speech! "I ask for no forgiveness. I have not sinned. I've done what I needed to do to survive." "I killed a man to save my brother's life. I'm not sorry about that. I'm proud." "I did my best." Ah - not his brother? Eeeep! Giant smoke monster can make a fist! A nasty, smash and bash type fist! Woah. So, it really is dangerous to have some type of epiphany on this island. 'Cuz that's when you croak. Damn. I liked the character of Mr. Eko. He was really interesting and stuff. Locke gets to hear the last words . . . "we're next". Huh. So, does that mean Eko actually said " we're next", including himself? Or did he say " you're next", meaning Locke isn't quoting but rather explaining. 'Cuz that makes a difference in possible meanings. Oh, and "next" what, of course. Next to get smacked around by the smoke fist? Or next to see hallucinations of your past demons? Or next to get grabbed by Others and join Benry in a lovely brunch? Or . . . ?

And from the looks of the preview, I'm wondering if Jack won't be trying to turn the tables on them a bit.

Well, we know one thing for sure now--it's not just having sex that gets you killed on this island.

"The Cost of Living." Judgement day for Eko. I have a very bad feeling about this. And a rather accurate bad feeling it was.

It's so gratifying to see Benry afraid. Does that make me a bad person? Yes. Yes it does. Now come over here and join me on the bad person bench. We have more fun. #smirk#

Shirtless Jack... *looks skyward, mouthing "thank you"* I was really really needing some shirtless Jack tonight. You can never have too much shirtless Jack.

Well, Locke and Eko were sort of competition for the role of shaman of the Island, after a fashion: Seeking Eko restored Locke's faith in the island, and well, removed himself from competition as charismatic leader....
