::I think Warren made a mistake going evil. He could have made a fortune selling sex bots. ::
How much do you suppose he'd charge for a Spike-bot?

Less whimper, more snicker, I hope. Glad you're not too put out. I was worried. There have been people formerly with us who have stomped off for less.

I was suprised to hear that she'd opted for a pilot rather than leading a Buffy spin-off. I mean, pilots are notorius for their high mortality rate. Why do you suppose she's risking a complete unknown rather than seizing the opportunity to star in a Buffy spin-off crafted by JW, along side of other beloved characters that will come ready with an established audience all eagerly awaiting its debut?

I've been watching Angel faithfully (no pun intended) as long as I've been watching Buffy (but without the attendant Spike love) and last night's episode rocked! Normally, I don't re-watch Angel immediately (though I do tape it) but last night I had to watch it again before bed. I lOVED Angelus calling Sunnydale and hanging up on Dawn and saying 'its the other one'. I too wondered what Buffy's reaction would be to that. I loved the Bringer's knife, absolutely bringing the two series back in synch again. Can't wait to see how this will play out.
Did you guys catch that the woman in the prison yard who tried to kill Faith was the actress who played Patrice in season 2 of Buffy? One of the Order of Binaca (I know that's not it, but close) that Spike hired to pick Buffy off? The one who shot Oz in the arm?
I loved Eliza and MAN I wish she'd decided to do the Faith spin-off. You can really tell ME had planned to have her do so, because they gave her a hero's welcome.
The only things I disliked were (gag, ptoeey, argh..) 'Give mamma some sugar' and that last GROSS scene with evil Cordy and a horrified Connor. I used to like Cordy a lot. Note past tense.

Ok....you got my attention. :-) I've been speculating like a madman regarding Xander since I got into this board, because among all the main characters, his direction is the most unclear. Your theory is as good as any of mine. I've got two more here, one of which is actually new.
Speculation abounds regarding spinoff potential, and to a great degree it's now focused on the characters of Dawn, Willow and Spike. I personally think the show would work best without a dominant lead character in the title, because BTVS and AtS are at their finest when they're ensemble efforts. But I digress....
One character who hasn't been mentioned (as I was pitfully moaning about earlier) is Xander, in any form or fashion...not even as a supporting character. This leads to two fascinating possibilities:
1. Xander dies heroically, sacrificing himself for the women he loves. Or....
2. Let me start this little theory with a couple of indisputable facts: if we want to see Spike involved in any spinoff, he cannot be romantically linked with Buffy at series' end, as much as some fans want to see it. If AtS continues (I think it will) we won't be seeing any last minute hookup between Buff and Angel either. Those are the facts. Here comes the wild speculation: I don't think Buffy will die, because they've done it already and she can't guest star in a spinoff.
If Anya dies (I think SHE will) that leaves two lonely, despondent people. One of whom might just figure out that Xander is the one to walk with her into the light, as Angel once said. I admit Sarah's quote regarding the original plan of Buffy/Xander might be tainting my outlook, but Joss loves to do 180's on people, and that would certainly knock a few people for a loop.
I understand that everyone here does NOT want to hear that Buffy will be with anyone but Spike....but I'm right about his future. If you want to see Spike some more, he can't be with Buffy on a permanent basis.

SMG's open to the idea of occasional guest shots on the spin-off and possibly Angel, though. Some of them flashbacks, probably, but some could be present-series-time.
I don't think Buffy dies.

Money. Fame. Whatever the Faith Spin-off would have been, it would have probably been even more of an ensemble show than BtVS, which has never let the fact Buffy is in the main title get in the way of telling a good story. Also, I imagine if the pilot did go to series it would pay much more than any Faith Spin-off, which probably would be on less wealthy WB or UPN. Additionally, wherever Faith the Series would have gone, it would almost certainly have been dark; maybe the FOX pilot will have a wacky zaney feel and Eliza wanted to do some broad comedy. While most actors relish playing baddies, Eliza might fell the exact opposite since she plays so many bad girls.

I take it Xander wasn't a choice? Sorry, I'm afraid I just quickly scanned to the Spike part. In my opinion, I would love to see a Spike/Xander spin-off. Sort of the odd couple of demon killing...but it seems Joss believes he needs some hot young babe to sell the show. Sheesh. We hot young babes (snort!) wanna see hot DUDES!

Robert, I disagree with your premise. As long as SMG is willing to occasional guest spots on the spin-off then BtVS CAN end with Spike and Buffy romantically linked and the spin-off CAN feature Spike still in love and together with usually absent but occasionally present Buffy (color me stamping my foot).

Oh yeah, can't WAIT to see how ME handles that one. Will they bring up the 'warm champagne' conversation (I guess it was more a monologue)? Oh, I hope so.
