Can I say how much I hate re-runs? Next week's re-run is an exception though - CWDP is probably my favorite of this season so far and I can't wait to see it again (even though I do have it on tape).
March 25th is too far away. Two more weeks until a new "Buffy" - I can't take it. Although having new episodes of "Angel" does soften the blow a bit.
Since I am a HUGE spoiler whore (though I am trying to reform), I cannot wait for the discussions to take place after the newest episode but alas, I will have to wait. Grr, argh!
After the episode on the 25th, are we in for another long re-run spell? Oops-is that a spoiler? Knowing when a new episode will air? My apologies to any of the Scubies who are completely spoiler-free and don't want to know anything about upcoming episodes! You have more self-control than I. (hanging head, goes off to flog herself)

Ok, since we have two more weeks until a new episode of "Buffy" and since I am pissed about that (see above rant) here's a question for everyone:
Who should say the last line on "Buffy"?
My answer is Darla. Think about it -she said the first line, she should say the last. Totally kidding!
My real answer: Buffy or Giles
Reasons for Buffy
1. It's her show (you know what I mean by that). The supporting players are wonderful and I cannot imagine the show without any one of them but Buffy is the show.
2. With Buffy speaking the last line, there would be a real sense of closure. Not saying if Willow or Xander or Spike or anyone else said the line we would all be sitting around saying, "Well, show's not over. No sense of closure." I just think there would be a greater sense of closure if Buffy said the last line.
3. C'mon - she's Buffy! Need I say more?
Reasons for Giles:
1. Since Giles is the father figure of the group, I think the last line of his would give a great sense of closure (save Buffy saying the line). It would be like a father telling his child, "Well done. I'm proud of you." Unless of course, the last line is Giles screaming, "You stupid children! Why did I even bother with the lot of you?" (If that is the case then I renounce my membership in the "'Buffy' is the best show on television" club!)
2. Giles has (usually) been the voice of reason in the group. He can bring the gang back to reality, back to what is important. It would be a fitting tribute to his character if he could utter the last line and bring the gang back to what it once was - a family working, fighting, loving, side by side, through thick and thin.
What do y'all think? Does any of this make sense?
And yes, it's a pretty boring day at work, hence the frequent postings today. Boss is out of town, depositions are over (doing the Scubie dance) - all I'm doing now is research for briefs in a few cases. Sounds exciting, huh? Bet you are all jealous! (Again with the sarcasm).

If you look back at what I wanted in case of a spin-off, it included Buffy & Giles leaving together and Willow departing for LA. So, with that in mind, I'd actually like three people to say the last line together...
I'd like the show to end with a Buffy, Willow, and Xander group hug on the steps of Sunnydale High (assuming there is one after the last show -- if there isn't, I'd still like it to be on that spot). As they hug, I simply want them each to say at the same time, "Bye". It's my least favorite word as you'll see when my profile is posted but it would do it for me in this case. Then, in a scene very reminiscent of Becoming: Part II, they all walk off in different directions with a S. McLachlan song playing in the background.

I think the last line should definitely be Buffy's. I agree with Giles as a second - a distant second.
But . . . WHAT should her last line be?? Some thoughts . . .
"I love you all! Goodbye!" (as she plunges to her FINAL death)
"Xander, it's always been you!" (special selection for Robert)
"So long, Angel, DO let the door hit you in the ass on the way out!" (for deborah - yes, I read your S'cubie profile!)
"Oh, Spike!!!"
"Whew, that was some battle. Pass the Weetabix, I need something to help mellow me out."

Definitely Buffy. How about, "Hey, this vampire business isn't too bad, Spike. Sorry about killing all those friends of yours" as she passes Xander over to him for a bite, "What was that about Weetabix giving texture to the blood?
(honestly, just kidding Robert!)

I have now read Barb C.'s total output of Buffy/Spike fan fiction and am reading Necessary Evils a second time through. All I ask of fan fiction is that it be competently executed and true to the characters, and Ms. Cummings' certainly is that. I prefer long work to short, and again Ms. Cummings satisfies. She's thought her premises through and built them up nicely, so I have no objection to Buffy being more on the quippy side with her "Life bores me" angst than we got in the actual series, or that Spike is posed the difficult job of being good, doing good, without the aid of a soul. I'm neutral about the graphic sex. There's a fair amount of it, but that's not the whole point of the story, so that's OK with me (I do not enjoy pornography, not even earnestly sincere pornography the author believes to be romantic--not in any way referring to Barb C. here!).
Spring, if you don't wanna, you don't gotta. Having read and reviewed every piece of fiction ever written re Beauty & the Beast, from the excellent to the spectacularly awful (would anybody care for a copy of Pas de Deux?), and written a bit in the genre as well, I'm in no danger, I think, of confusing fanfic with canon. If I were you, however, I think I'd sample a little that others recommend to decide if you like it or not...while it's still available. It won't be, forever.

There are two I could live with.
1."OOOh yes, God yes, Xander!! Ok, note to self....not as gay as I thought."
Or,
2. "Once a Zeppo...now a normal guy who can leave two Slayers completely sated at once. Who says nice guys finish last?"

I'd like it to be just Buffy, Willow and Xander standing together, with Buffy having the last line. "We'll see each other again. No matter where we go, it's always going to be about us." They turn around, facing Revello Drive from the Summers front porch, Buffy standing slightly out in front as the camera slowly pans back, revealing the house. Then, she hugs them for a long time, and slowly walks away. Fade to black. Tears....lots of tears. Hell, I'm crying now.

Spring-
Let me add my plea to what I am sure will be a chorus of requests for your fiction. I particularly like the fiction that addresses the in-be-tween bits of business such as that you suggested after the musical fadeout.
Also Nan-
I have read Barb Cumming's essay- I would like to check out her fiction- where is the site?
I basically read alternative universes as a critical reading of the Buffyverse and it gives me a differing perspective on a lot of the characters and issues.
I personally love Season 6 and think the authors handled the complicated issues of lust/love/ and growing up in a world of wildly gyrating moral compases extremely well-
I almost see Barb Cummings' essays as critiques of real people behavior- what we would prefer buffy to have done as opposed to a critique of the authors whose intention was to show flawed, complicated, wonderful heroes whose will sometimes flagged.

Just saying "Hi!" to anyone who is around... I'm impatiently waiting for the new episode of Angel. Does anyone else sometimes think they'll go insane if they hit "refresh" one more time and STILL not see any new messages anywhere? All of the boards where I lurk seem quiet tonight...

(Wasn't This Discussed Waaaay Down the Misc. Board?)
Lee H. said, "all I'm doing now is research for briefs in a few cases. Sounds exciting, huh? Bet you are all jealous!"
Heck, yes, I'm jealous - if they're Spike's briefs.(Sound of drum rim shot here indicating punchline of a bad joke in a smoke-filled sleazy lounge featuring ladiezz gyrating around poles). Okay, going wonky with not enough Spike exposure.
I may go back down the Misc Board and reread the section on Spike's pants (12/02). That's what really got all this started, you know. I wanted to talk more about Spike but the 'thread' about his pants tapered off. The S'cubies were sorta 'born' from Spike's pants - omigosh, that didn't come out quite right...but it *was* a lovely visual(sigh).
