Though I'm one of the few who don't have an edit button, thought it would help to know which browsers it does NOT appear on as well... I use IE 5.5 at home and IE 6.0 at work. However, when I read that the edit button supposedly appears in Netscape, I tried Netscape 4.08 at work and still didn't see an edit button. I have to keep the that version on my main machine so that I can troubleshoot with clients but will try using a newer version of Netscape on one of my test machines tomorrow.
Not being able to edit drives me crazy. I compose most of my posts in Word now because I'm a freak about spelling mistakes and have no way to fix them once I submit the post.

Kim, the ScoopMe editor, told me that the edit button was designed for Internet Explorer, not Netscape, but cookies are involved: you have to be accepting cookies from ScoopMe for the software to know the post is yours and you therefore have the right to edit it.
I have the newest (I think) version of IE, downloaded about a month ago, and I don't get an edit button, nor have I blocked cookies from ScoopMe. Kim said she'd get one of her tech people on it and try to sort out the mystery. If I learn anything useful via that, I'll pass it along.

Nan,
In reading this new thread of the Soulful Spike Socitey, one of the major themes I see strewn out among hte posts is the fact that people are reading alot of fanfiction.
I would lke to make an open request that if you have the time and inclination, you compile a list of fan fiction sites you would recommend (and also take recommendations from others) and I would place these links on the S'cubie webpage...perhaps in their own area or under Links. It seems a lot of our charter S'cubies enjoy reading the fanfiction and taht our newer members and people jsut peeking in also enjoy it.
Again, this is just a suggestion, but I think a lot of people would appreciate it.
Let me know what you think.

You techno pagan uses Netscape 7 and he enjoys using his edit button frequently. *L*
For those of you that have never seen one, it appears after you post down below the "reply to message" button. It is only availabe to you for a limited period of time (I have never determined exactly hwo long; it seems to vary) but usually quite a few minutes (maybe half an hour?).
Using Netscape does eliminate the little plus signs next to "linked" posts, but I never cared much for those anyway. To me its a really minor trade off because I have never met a version of IE that I have ever liked. Period.
Personally, I would recommend downloading the Netscape 7 browser and giving it a try. And don't forget...you CAN have more than one version of any given browser and you can elect which browser will be your "default." Even I occasionally use IE because there are some specific sites that are written only for it...and ditto for Netscape. Also some browsers are better at doing certain things (say implementing JAVA) than others and I occasionally drop back and use NS 4.7 for some things. Personally, I wish everyone would not use a proprietary system and make themselves available to all.

Knowing when a new episode is going to air is great and I would say an even vital thing to have posted to a board such as this. However, being completely spoiler free myself (and wanting very much to stay that way) let me suggest that the Titles of new episodes not be mentioned, nor allusions to events contained therein, or the characters that will be focussed on. Personally the titles arent a big deal to ME but I know htey are to some.
True, there are things coming that we are all spolied on thru no fault of our own as we live, breath, watch tv and read the news. But what I am noticing especially recently are things like people talking about appearances by Willow and so forth on various shows. Please people...save it for the spoiler board. I am a regular poster as the other S'cubies can attest to, and I had no idea that she was appearing. It would have been a delightful surprise to me, and now its ruined. True, not as bad as knowing WHAT will happen but its still spoilage.
Personally, I have been trying to avoid all the "Angel" posts on this board since wednesday, because in my area the show was postponed til saturday night due to basketball. I dont expect people to not post about hte show or to include a hint about the post in their titles because the show has aired for the majority already...I am now spoiled about a few things but thats jsut life. But please, have some consideration for those that wish to remain unspoiled about events that havent aired yet on their normal nights. For some of us it really, really ruins the suspense.

Personally, I think it's obvious who should get the last line. It's who always gets the last line: The Grrr Arrrg guy!
I LOVE him! I want a t-shirt with him on it...I think he should be in the spin off as a regular character. I want more lines..heck, let him direct! He seems to have knack for pacing.
I would love to have him do something for the last episode....give a dissertation...do a little soft-shoe...or come out and thank us all for watching all this time...anything. Maybe he could state his personal preference for Spike being in the spin off...I have a feeling his "grr arrgs" carry a lot of weight with the producers. *wink*

I must confess...It was I! I said that while spike is evil, Angelus is EVIL. I mentioned Spike's small time evils as compared with Angelus' "wanting to destroy the world" evil and how Spike actually LOVES life as compared to how Angelus DESPISES it.
Anyway...jsut wanted to clear that up. *L*

*L* Now that I am finally finished (my, you folks have been verbose!) I can go to thje S'cubie mail mail and check to see if there are things to be posted. I know for certain that I will be posting the latest chapter of Rob's Truths and there may be more stuff. Stay tuned and as it goes up, I'll let you guys know.

Vlad, I'm sorry if I spoiled the delayed Angel ep for you. I waited until past midnight and then thought everybody in the known (USA) universe with a TV would have had a chance to catch it if they wished to. And even that wasn't enough.
I know you weren't complaining about me in particular, but know that I gave the matter of spoilers re that Angel ep full thought...and even then was wrong. So sometimes, one can't win for losing.
There's a problem here, particularly in light of our current Buffy drought. We want new things to talk about and think about and explore among ourselves...and one of them is Angel and another is the news about what may be ahead for BtVS that bombards us on all sides. I am trying hard to strike a balance between finding out more about something that profoundly interests me--what the spinoff series may be comprised of and who may head it; what kind of finale BtVS may achieve in a season I've so far found mixed, with long draggy stretches, etc. et al.--and hiding under a rock so as (1) NOT to know these things and (2) even if I DO know them or have heavy-duty speculations, not to spoil things for those with bigger, more effective rocks than mine.
The best way to remain utterly spoiler free is to forego all sites on entertainment news in general and Buffy sites in particular. Not to mention not listening to the radio or watching TV news, either. That's a step I'm not prepared to take. I would miss this ScoopMe board almost more than the series itself.
So those who are trying to let the story unfold at its own pace with due patience have my sympathy and my respect. I'm really, really trying to find a good balance here. I just sometimes find myself wishing my fairly grotesque attempt at tightrope walking (and I know I'm not the only one) were felt worth a reciprocal recognition and sympathy.

OK. I get myself psyched up to go buy the Angel Season 1 DVD at Sams and they are sold out! Rather than go to Wal-Mart and pay a few bucks more, I'll wait for more to comein at Sams. I really went tonight to go to GA and buy gas and save $.30 a gallon. I'm so tight, I squeak when I walk.
Like Nan says, "Sometimes you can't win for losing."
I've read almost all of Spring's analyses(?) and just am speechless at what she sees. You know Spring, you should have a job writing Cliff Notes. Yours and Deborah's observations have helped so much with my understanding of episodes.
Tomorrow, I'm going to look for the analysis of "Storyteller".
This has nothing to do with anything anybody is posting about but... I want to say, as much as I didn't like Riley as a romantic interest for Buffy, I must respect Marc Blucas' talent for being able to portray confident-strong-in-your-face-drug-enhanced-super-soldier to insecure-paltry-human being. He did a fine job. This is directly due to Spring and Deborah making me look more closely at every-single-episode.
Wait a minute, I've got to get Alexandra in here too, nobody knows details like you do. BTW, how do you find all those pictures? I went back to look for 'Spike in Tie' and couldn't find the posting. Do you...by any chance...remember where it was??
