I was thinking . . . um, how long has this been happening at the same spot and they haven't been busted yet? Even if they are outside both city's cop jurisdiction, you think the state or highway cops would, um, have a problem with it. exactly what I thought.

Yep. I find myself doing the "Buffy thing" of too high expectations all the time. Expecting every episode to live up to the best--or be even better. Not fair. Patti---Allie says Rest Stop 15 was a wee bit over the top -- but her main objection was the timing. NOT at 4 PM she says--kids are at practices and jobs. More like 9 PM---in the dark is even better. [Of course, just about that time she stuck her face just a little too close to Rascal's (the dog) once too often for a 12 year old cranky dog and she (the dog) growled and lunged and nicked Allie's nose and scared her to death. So we missed a few seconds!] Got to watch the end of the Rutgers/UT game. And I may need to rewatch. Very strange juxtaposition of the fairly outlandish Parrot/betting story line with the extreme emotion of the flashbacks to V's mom. Hard to keep adjusting gears. Hi to sunworshipper and artemis and all you regulars. Thanks Sue - that scene would have been more believable to me if it had been in the dark or at least dusk, and there was a tiny bit of furtiveness about it.

Karen, I'm a cynic too. Her mother didn't seem too full of backbone and determination. And I didn't like Veronica accusing Weevil. She should have known he wouldn't do that. I want the thing with her mom to work, I empathize with Veronica and what she's trying to do. But I don't have a lot of hope. There's a lot more going on than Veronica knows or is able to deal with right now and it's not gonna be "oh, I'm out of rehab and everything's back to normal, la la la". Not that I think V really thinks this either, but she just wants it so bad. I didn't like her jumping to conclusions about Weevil either, rather than just asking him what was up. But Veronica has blown it with other people before (she has a bit too much of a desire to be right, so it makes her hasty sometimes, IMHO) and then realized her mistake. So I have hopes she and Weevil will come out of this with a better understanding.

Well, the end of the promo showed XXX looking directly at the camera. XXX was furious; XXX twisted around and picked something up (looked like a thick book but maybe was a metal box), spun and swung full force at the camera. Meaning at the person for who the camera was POV. Maybe XXX struck someone else or maybe this was a dream or fantasy sequence but on the face of it, it sure looked like Lilly's murder. UPN wouldn't spoil the climax of the whole season by revealing the murderer, would they? I decided not to name XXX just in case UPN promo-makers are a bunch of lame-brained asshats. Watch it yourself if you dare. That scene is in the last few seconds of the promo. Hmmmm. I'll have to rewatch it, I didn't catch quite that much. But then again, they love to mislead in the promos too, so frankly I'll take all of it with a grain of salt. Right up 'til the actual ep. Like you said, it could be a dream or even a misleading flashback. Or be somethat looks like one thing and turns out to be another.

Ohh - Karen, I like that. Good call on the Moms. And I love Matthew's stream of consciousness posts too. It's kind of like watching the episode twice. Is it evil of me to say I pretty much figured out who stole the parrot early? I for one knew it wasn't Weevil. The pick up game just seemed so shout out. Thanks! And Yes you are! Very evil! ;D I really paid attention to the opening scene - because there usually are clues to in them - but I totally missed it and was mislead up until the very end - thinking it was Richie from the other high school. Richie - another Archie comic book character - like Matthew pointed out.

You know - I watched the promo and I didn't notice this. I need to go rewatch it too. Matthew - I do see what you mean by rating the episodes and I'm truly not trying to downgrade VM at all - it is my absolute favorite show on the air. I was dashing home from the theatre and Kiersten was all - I thought Lost was your favorite new show. And I said I like Lost - alot but VM is definitely my favorite. I truly admire what Rob Thomas has done and I am en thrall to the actors. Ensemble acting, stand out lead acting, acting and writing at it's best. I am totally Rob Thomas' minion here. I sort of figure everyone gets to have their own opinions. Loving the show doesn't mean all eps are equal. And this person will love one ep more than that person or vice versa. That's what makes a show fun and exciting to discuss. Man, I rememeber some Angel eps that had folks on total extreme sides of the fence. I like hearing all sides, myself. ;D

It all ties together, doesn't it? Money for your family - Veronica and Abel. I was totally waiting for her to use the hidden mic, and I figured she wired the plant in Wiedman's office, but I hadn't been expecting the additional comments she made right after talking to her dad. Veronica has a good heart. What else could she have done for her mom other than what she did? I can't believe, tho, that her mom was just protecting Veronica from the possible 'truth' about her real dad. Is that something that Celeste would really want to tell Veronica - that she would want anyone to know? It just doesn't feel quite right to me. There's got to be more to the story. (duh) The ending was really good. I was wondering when she was going to use that bug. I wonder how old Koontz' granddaughter is. Veronica didn't seem to recognize the name. Or did she? I'm going to be peeved if the granddaughter turns out to be Meg. ETA: Of course, the way this show goes, the granddaughter could be anyone's 'real' kid. Even Logan's sister.

Thrilled that all got to see this episode. I liked the episode, because it threw out a lot of big arc leads. And I enjoy theorizing about the big murder arc. Of course, I understand there's a promo out there I need to see now that may contain clues or misleads.
You can be a fan of a show and not find every episode compelling. I'll confess something to you guys here and now: Doublemeat Palace I could live without. There I've said it.
*grin* I normally don't read these threads in advance, because I'm on California time and I'm still waiting for B&V on 13. But I figure since I've seen this episode I could read up on the thread in advance.
I LOVED Matthews line by line commentary. It was so cool.
*hugs*

Heh.. Wallace as Right-hand because of being dexterous... Eli is Left-hand because he's just a touch sinister.. I like that! Wallace is dexterous, but he's also sweet and pure of spirit - or full of 'right'ness - according to Veronica. So where does that put Cutie Joe Schmoe?
