OH! The message Weevil put in the secret pen was really for LOGAN and Lily found it and threatened to tell so she had to be eliminated, cause twu wuv between the two hot bad boys of the show would seriously damage the demographic! i think i just woke up my neighbors by laughing too loudly. ;D

Another apocalypse? Oh, as usual, dear. These quotes make me all bittersweet. Which is the very BEST chocolate. ok, I'm going to create...THE POLL! eta: I did, but I had to leave out Keith Mars and Abel Koonz because there are only 8 slots. I figure those two are definitely out of the running, right?

stop channeling agatha christie this episode had so much going on that my head felt a bit like it was spinning afterwards. combined with the previews - whoa. i thought aaron's last scene was very very well-done -- i found myself thinking during it, "wow, this explains pretty much everything about him." [it's pretty common for someone who had his particular kind of childhood and turns into an abuser to be abusive towards a male child while overprotective of a female one.] and the "how was school?" - perfectly creepy. speaking of creepy - celeste. and AH did a great job. my inner-teenage-girl was all gooey at the v/l stuff along with everyone else's . my interpretation of the weevil/lilly stuff in this episode was that it was more to cast the show's suspicion net a little wider than anything particularly nefarious. i agree with the post that the note was more likely something blush-worthy than jail-worthy. and, i too felt very sorry for keith and veronica with the dual dna tests. celeste, this is all your fault! i hope the other '02-ers got their dogs back too. Great post! Ack - you all have got a head start on Wednesday I see. I'm kind of in the head spinning area too. I'm going to have to think and rewatch some more. So 2 minutes of heaven combined with someone I hate don't really seem to go together. And the previews show we get more kissage next week I see. I'm guessing the week after must be when everything hits the fan. I really enjoyed the sweet joyfulness of their kissing tonight. And they were saying everything we all were thinking last week - "what are we doing? We have to talk? etc. Really sweet scene after the really creepy scene. I agree with everyone who posted how terrific a job AH did tonight. There was no channeling of Willow at all. Great job. I too think the note/message was something sweet and smoopy from Weevil to Lilly - not incriminating. Got to go pick up Elise - I wonder how long this thread will be tomorrow? ;D

That would SO explain her lips! Something has to. Lisa Rina has a boutique with many horrible pieces of clothing which show the same refined aesthetic sensibility and laser-like self awareness as went into those lips. Julia, maybe the collagen lip people all really want to be Daisy Duck?

hard not to get twisted when someone twists you though. very typical of real life. Which of course everyone knows. Very well stated, Patti. I'm not going to sit here and say I love the character of Aaron now...but I...what was it Buffy said to Dawn about Spike? I feel for him. He was a victim too, once upon a time. This episode makes a pretty strong case that Aaron isn't merely playing his latest role here; the man seems to be genuinely attempting to connect with the remains of his family. Since he obviously has heavy and complex issues, tonight's attempt manifested itself rather violently...but hey! Can't say the guy didn't deserve the beating. Random stuff: 1. The best indication of talent in an actor, to me, is his or her ability to make you forget anything else you know of them. By the mid-point of this episode, I didn't even think about who was on-screen; I only saw vapid, self-involved Trina. I'm not surprised with how good Aly was, but it's always nice to see confirmation on screen. 2. I also wasn't surprised by Aaron's easy recognition of what had happened to his daughter. When he did his about-face and agreed to meet with Dylan, I immediately knew what was coming. 3. One thing that DID surprise me a little: how great Harry Hamlin was tonight. He made me pity and fear Aaron at the same time. Obviously the writing was there, but it's still not a simple thing to bring off. Hamlin's work elevated his status from TV Land nostalgia-casting (which was how I'd previously perceived him) to an important character. 4. Was Backup cool in tonight's episode or what? Did you see him stylin' in the back seat of the car when Veronica followed the Mexican sawhorse rider? That's how he rolls. 5. Celeste is a bee-yotch. Which pretty much eliminates her from the murder suspect list, if you ask me. 6. Ok, Weevil went straight to the Kane mansion from Mars Investigations. Did Veronica perhaps say something to trigger this sudden attack of felonious behavior? 7. Speaking of Eli, can't say I liked him very much tonight. He lied to Veronica, then manipulated her to spring him. When she discovered his true motive, all he gave her was a smartass remark. What could he possibly be hiding...and why? 8. Re #4: yes, I am aware it's safer for a dog to ride in the back seat, especially in a convertible. That doesn't change the fact that he was a bad mother (shut your mouth! I'm talkin' about Backup!) in this episode. 9. Ok, I hate continuity questions as much as anyone...but didn't last week's episode make it pretty clear Veronica was tapped out? Where, exactly, did she find $1,000.00 lying around? Perhaps she scotch-taped Logan's check back together and cashed it. 10. All right...fine. Logan and Veronica have chemistry. There. I said it. I'll try to let go of any future hope for Veronica/Wallace. Ever notice how nice, honest and relatively uncomplicated guys never wind up with the lead female character? Always the best buddy. I tell you, it's gettin' old fast. 11. Sing it with me: who is the dog who helps to save his brother dogs? Backup! You daaaamn right! 12. Did next week's preview suggest Wallace's mom somehow being involved with Clarence Weidman? That'd be an unpleasant twist. Incidentally, Weidman's signature top hat is an almost exact replica of my Grandpa Selmer Sorenson's. He wore it to all church functions. 13. Aforementioned preview also says something about a connection between the rape and Lilly's murder...which I think most of us suspected all along. I should point out that I never actually believed my post from the previous episode thread regarding Troy as the rapist. That's the sort of scenario I would want to see...but it looks more and more likely that it's going to be a character we know considerably better. Which I really, really do not want. 14. I'd be a little worried about my future health if I were the rapist. If Logan or Keith don't kill the perpretrator, Wallace just might. If I could envision a scenario where Wallace could be violent, this would fit the bill. That's all I've got.

Have not read any of your comments yet, because I want to write my review "cold." But had to say: [/li][li]LOVED the ep!! [/li][li]Have long drive today to out-of-town meeting, then going to a musical play shortly after I get back. So earliest I will get to my review is tonight after the play. Latest is tomorrow night. Will finish it by end of day tomorrow at latest. I am very anxious to get to this one, but I can't miss my meeting, and you can't expect me to pass up tickets to The Full Monty. Sorry. A girl has to have her priorities. But I'll get to Hot Dogs ASAP. [/li][li]Am also anxioius to read all your comments! Hard not to. Loved the ep. Later! Off to the big city!

Now that I've had time to think about the episode more - this was just all kinds of wonderful. Really, really good episode and we're still scratching our heads.
At first I thought the MOTW was going to be lame but it turned out to be very good.
How much did I love the whole spanking busty girls line/scene, the Wallace/brother scene and Mandy's tasering of slimey Hans while Wallace is laughing in the background.
And it was nice that Mandy actually looked like a girl who would be picked on at school - not some gorgeous girl with bad clothing choices and hairstyle.
Boy did Veronica put the smackdown on harrassing guy? How great was that? Cutting him off before he could call her a slut and "If I want you to speak I'll wave a snausage under your nose." Hee, hee.
Note - all of Veronica's actions seemed realistic to me. She was angry/frustrated and let some of that out in that scene, hopeful in the first scene with Logan, unsure what to say when he came to her to help and as I said before she said all the things we all have been thinking - what are we doing? And we need to talk.
And all squeeing aside - which is very hard because - SQUEEEEEEE. That was a wonderful scene. The foreheads touching, the giggling together and Logan acknowledging that he feels guilty about feeling something for someone other than Lilly.
And how great is VM that even while smooching with Logan she gets a clue from his comment about secret messages to segue her into a flashback that gave her knowledge about what Weevil was really doing.
I also saw that scene with Lilly as two-pronged. One - triggered by Logan's comment and moving the mystery along and also as kind of Veronica a acknowledging the 'this is my best friend's boyfriend" and feeling okay about this. A little because obviously she is still conflicted w/ Deputy Leo. But when Logan gets in the car and asks if she is okay, I kind of got that vibe.
Yeah on VM being honest with Leo and he got back points he lost with his ceiling comment last week by being mature about this. Still cannot stand the way he mumble/talks.
Hamlin rocked tonight. I'm on the loving the musical choice of That's Amore in the background. So creepy - though I also saw it coming - and scary when he pulled out the belt.
I'm trying to think all analytical Sue/Spring like about the underlying themes. Keith is doing the DNA test now - how saw/heartbreaking was that scene. And I'm pretty sure he will read the results.

I could imagine Aaron justifying it to himself as "toughening up Logan for the real world" kind of scenario. As far as I can see with both of them, do not fuck with the women in their life, though. Hitting a woman is lower than low, in their worldview. Yes - obviously serious, serious issues here. If Logan is not involved in the rape in any way - I kind of fear for the rapist and Logan's reaction. Though this adds depth to Aaron Echoll's character, he is still seriously messed up. And Logan has all of that instilled in his background though hopefully muted somewhat by Lynn's influence. But, as we have seen, Logan has no problem erupting into violence.

LOL! Actually, Weevil's alibi doesn't hold up anymore since they know the murder occurred after 4:00. And I think Keith's reasoning tha the Kane's wouldn't cover up for Weevil is a little off because they weren't covering up for Weevil, they were covering up for Duncan who they thought did it. So it does still leave Weevil in the picture. Did anyone else notice that the Logan/Veronica kissage occurred at the exact same time as the kissage last week? Is Rob Thomas giving us a clue or seriously messing with our heads?
