Here are my initial thoughts about tonight's show... I posted this at my LJ so I'm just copying and pasting so I don't have to re-type all of it. Excuse the grammar/typos. I was just trying to capture my first rehash of things.
GAH! I love my show. And, see, we needed the first two episodes to get the players in place and the mysteries set up. Because, you can't have these fast moving episodes without some foundation set up. Keep the faith, people.
Ok. "She's in the rear view mirror." Continuity crack! Logan looking in the rear view mirror - Veronica seeing Aaron in the rear view mirror. People in those rear view mirrors? They are a bit deceiving. They just APPEAR to be smaller than they really are. She may be in Logan's rear view mirror but the dude may run off the road for as often as he appears to be glancing back there. (Ok, not totally true. Logan isn't stuck in the past but, she's there, lurking and he does keep glancing up at her. The fact that we have seen Logan stare into his rear view mirror last season? I'm fairly certain the line was intentional.)
But - loved that the Logan/Duncan tension isn't all about Veronica and Logan acknowledges that. Though, I think for Duncan it may be more about Veronica than much else. For Logan, though, with Duncan it has often been about their friendship. He separates V from that.
"I hear there's a bitchin' chase scene at the end." Heh. Foreshadowing!
The VMVO? Hello - this show was ALL VO. I love this episode but that drove me a bit crazy.
Dude. Veronica checks out Kendall's ass and then Kendall wants a threesome with Veronica. Hello subtext.
Why doesn't Kendall know Veronica Mars? Or, does she? Because, really... V's not exactly unknown in the world right now. She's the freakin' girl that brought down Aaron Echolls (whose son Kendall is fucking) and who Aaron tried to burn alive. Keith has been in interviews and Kendall lives in Neptune. It can not be possible that she has no clue who Veronica Mars is... So, playing dumb or do the writers actually expect us to buy that hogwash?
So... the Beaver/Cassidy stuff from Veronica. Is that a clue to the 09er regression Veronica is suffering from? This back and forth resembles her Veronica 1.0 vs Veronica 2.0.
Weevil's earring. Ok, well I covered that in my previous post. I'm not sure if it'll be a red herring or something that leads Veronica to more clues. The question I have is whether the earring Lamb has is the matching one to the one Weevil was wearing or the actual earring? This is important because it changes when Moran spoke to Weevil. We shall see. I suspect it may be the matching earring and Veronica will see him wearing it - make the connection between the one Lamb had and then remember seeing him wearing it that day at the gas station.
Alicia/Sherry and her reluctance to go to Chicago and that hotel/club in particular and her resistance to Keith running for office. Obviously she has some secrets she wants to keep hidden. Then she rushes Keith out of the club... only to be caught anyway. But, the guy had a badge so I'm thinking we're gonna think it's something bad but it will turn out to be something different. And, yet, it should shake things up - Keith WILL investigate and the fallout will be interesting given that it means Wallace has also lied about stuff - of course, it also makes me want to go back and fact check stuff because didn't Veronica get info on Wallace last season? They made a joke about it... Wallace was not worried then so I am curious to see how this plays out.
Jackie. O. So, what's up with that? Are we all judging Jackie a little too quickly? Is there more to her than it seems? None of the characters on this show are every one dimensional so I'm guessing yes and there's a more complicated answer to why she was at the Java Hut with a different guy. She, however, feels no need to explain herself to Veronica. In her mind, she trumps Veronica on the social ladder... could be interesting. Jackie is reminding me a bit of Lilly which, interesting, because Veronica always looked the other way when Lilly was a bitch - unconditional love for her friend and all. But... well, Jackie's another story.
Jack Montana's office is the same office from last week's episode but obviously not supposed to be the same office. The seal is gone from the door of the office and replaced with his name. I assume just reuse of the set but I was hoping it was the same office since both Woody and Lamb were in and out of it last week. Would have added a lil' more intrigue to those characters.
Speaking of Lamb... hot Lamb! I love Veronica/Lamb scenes. Also? Lamb being right about something? Is that foreshadowing?? Uh roh.
Veronica turns in Mr. C BEFORE telling Cassidy what's going on? Weird. Convenient but weird. I guess she didn't want to give Cassidy time to talk her out of it. Also weird because when did she turn him in? The same day she goes hunting down Logan? Which is the day after she discovers it? So, maybe she did want to tell Cassidy first but then he disappeared on her and she couldn't go after him because she can't just ditch work to hunt him down.
I like that Keith admits that he likes being Sheriff. We know that, of course, but I love that he knows himself well enough to admit it.
Ok - I knew about the Courtney's appearance so I didn't hate it like a lot of people have... it amused me even though it was a bit long with the first guy. Though. Come on - you saw it right? The first guy is totally Duncan (and, hey, if Duncan's singing to V hadn't been cut out in the first episode this would have been SO MUCH MORE OBVIOUS) being all schmoopy and lovey-dovey with his BLONDE girlfriend... heh. Courtney's "Strapping young lad. Young love, so beautiful. But, you know, even young love has a dark side." Yeah, no shit sherlock. That whole rape/breakup/sister/repressed feelings ... that's dark alright. Then he's all singing about how LoVe hurts and scars and marks, blah, blah. Which, of course, Logan/Veronica has held a lot of pain and it has left marks on all of them. Then we cut to the "Duncan"'s girlfriend totally digging him singing the song and staring at him - sorta entranced. Where have I seen that before? Oh, every time Veronica has been in a scene with LOGAN. And check out the other "Duncan" guy. He looks just like Teddy Dunn in that scene. Staring back and forth from his girlfriend to Courtney - with that disgruntled look on his face at the way she's so into Courtney's singing. Haha! I love it.
Ok, then. I probably have more but I need to sleep.
