Would anyone care to be a youngster in Neptune?
1. Veronica's mother - thieving drunk.
2. Wallace's mother - liar.
3. Jackie's parents - Dad's a womanizing compulsive gambler, Mom's completely self-involved.
4. Dick and Cassidy's father - white collar criminal...and God knows what else. Not sure I want to know. Special bonus: stepmom's a shameless ho.
5. Hannah's dad - drug addict, perjurer, willing stooge to the Fitzpatricks.
6. Logan's parents - Vapid, suicidal mama...and Jesus, where do you start with Dad, really?
7. Duncan's parents - Dad obstructed justice, Mom's...well, an evil bitch.
8. Meg's parents - the worst child abusers of all - the True Believers, completely confident in their sicko methods. At least some abusive parents understand their failings on some psychological level; not so the Mannings.
9. Gia Goodman - We don't know what the hell is exactly going on in that creepy household yet...but whatever it is, it clearly ain't pretty. Daddy is one disturbed individual.
10. Lamb - Clearly experienced some form of abuse as a child, details unknown.
11. Mac - I'm not sure if being switched at birth with Madison qualifies as parental abuse...but it's got to be an extremely daunting experience.
12. Backup - Father had a compulsion to take sudden dumps on carpet when frightened, mother was almost as much of a bitch as Celeste.**
**This one's actually a spoiler for Season Three. Sorry in advance.

I’ll be back tomorrow with more (some brighter, easier to digest ideas) but I just have to get this out of my chest. I apologize if this has already been mentioned but I’m too tired and too short on sleep to go back through the whole thread. Those Fitzpatricks are seriously creepy. Danny’s insane laughter and his all-around jumpy, agitated behavior was chilling to the bones. Yes, yes, yes! The Fitzpatricks are extremely oogy to me. I think . . . I think that it's not just that they're dealign drugs or doing crime (the PCHers are doing that too), it's not that they're violent and hurt/kill people (some of the PCHers have gone that route too), it's that there is something unhinged about the way they are doing their crime and violence. Eeeeep! I didn't notice this, but now I have to re-watche! Well, this ep was a good one for bringing the noir and the mystery and the chillingness, so it's not surprising!

So, did Woody say something in "Normal is the Watchword" about being a Little League coach? Am I remembering that correctly? Because there is just an extra creep vibe for me; but then again, Little League makes me flash on "Lucky 19." We see him coaching in one of the eps - 'cuz his rich kids team is wanting to take over the field from some poorer kids and I was all "aha, issues of class warfare again!".

Here’s an excerpt: “VERONICA MARS SCORED ITS BEST PERFORMANCE IN FOUR MONTHS (SINCE 12/7/05) IN VIEWERS (3.0mil), ADULTS 18-34 (1.5/4), WOMEN 18-34 (2.1/5) AND WOMEN 18-49 (1.6/4).” In related news, three posts today and counting. I’m outta control!! And People - next week's opening scene on UPN right now - your brain will leak out your ears. Seriously.

Well I plan to start touting it everywhere on Monday. Plus our VM viewing party video might make it on air by Tuesday (I doubt it - I'm hoping the next week) so I plan to talk it up at the studio as these parents will all hope to see their kids on TV. Over at LJ - fans are going on GG, Lost and Alias websites to tout the show and post a cheat sheet (which lists the players for those who have never seen it before). It brought in some new viewers last week and here's hoping that continues. Next week's ep has some amazing scenes in it from what I've heard and the opening - as I say - one line in it will blow your mind.

Granted, it was a big lie, but there were nonselfish reasons behind it.

I don't know...do you think there is some kind of secret there? Like with the kiddie league coach on Buffy? Very possible, I'd say. Although, with us all talking about Woody, it does make me think back to the episode with Grace. And I was getting more of a vibe that mom was the problem in Woody's household - that his problem was he was cowed by her as well. But then again . . . hard to say.

Granted, it was a big lie, but there were nonselfish reasons behind it. I didn't name the list, actually. Just the facts, ma'am. I agree there are plenty of good reasons to omit certain facts from kids...until they're old enough to understand the circumstances. Wallace was bound to find out sometime; better he hear it from his Mom first. That said, it's definitely a minor issue in comparison with the others.

Very. Something about the way he kept talking about Dick. "Dick is always there" - not wanting to go to his place because he'd be there. I mean, it could have been him using Dick as an excuse, but . . . sexually abused by Dick? urk. I think that may be the case. Does not want to have his defenses down when he's anywhere near his sociopathic abusive brother. Makes the escort trick that much.... more appropriate.
