Thanks Dawn, Mission mission, HA! I just got it. How obtuse am I? As to the preview. Our local station doesn't air it. Does anyone know if it is on the upn site? Okay so maybe I should check for myself, but is the upn site a spoiler free zone? Watergal =^..^=

Nan, I hope I didn't embarass you too much about your books. I was (and still am) thrilled to meet someone who not only wrote something I admire, but shares an interest, if that makes sense. If you do find the last two books, I would love to read them. I think my email is visible on ScoopMe, if not, let me know. Did I catch that you also write fan fiction? I'd love to read it - I was just thinking that Buffy fan fic might ease the pain AB (After Buffy), and I really should go find some. I should check out the Scubie site, right? Let the weirdness in, RW

Yup. Go to the S'cubie site: it's a WIP (progressing fairly quickly) called Old Blood. I've just started fanfic for BTVS; I also have two pro books based on Beauty and the Beast; they are downloadable. If you're interested, go to home.fuse.net/helpnet, then follow the link to the download page. Rhonda has one of the two Jannus books on disk (I sent it to her lo these many years ago) and the other one in hard copy. So I'll see (soon) if I have the other one as a disk file. One way or the other, I think you're gonna get a chance to read them. Nan

Guys, bear with me. I just visited my grandmother in the hospial for a few minutes (she's doing a lot better by the way) and she told me that I HAD to post this: Dearest S'cubies: Thank you so much for your concern over myself and Lee regarding my recent health scare. I greatly appreciate all the prayers and thoughts that you kindly expressed to Lee. Now, I don't understand this "Buffy" show but I know Lee loves it and I know she loves this group. She has regaled me with some of the jokes from the board [from Lee: only the clean ones of course!] and it seems to me that you have become a very tight-knit group in a short amount of time. I am so very thankful that each of you have come into Lee's life - she is grateful, as am I. I told Lee she had to post this because I wanted everyone to know how appreciative I was of them. Thank you, all of you, for your warm wishes and kind blessings for my family during this time. You will never know what that meant to me, and to the rest of my family. God Bless, Mary, Lee's grandmother I promised her I would post this so, like the good grandaughter that I am, I did. -L :-)

I caught up. I can't believe it. Now I should go read the ep board... maybe. I did want to let Rob know that I also do not hate Kennedy. Do I think she's right for Willow? No. Do I think she'll have her own series. Uh-uh. But do I think she's a handy transitional person to allow Willow to get over Tara. Yuppers. And, not to metion that seeing as how they're all trapped in a house together and everyone else has left Sunnydale, I'm not thinking Willow's options are looking so good. AND I had no chemistry issues with the love scenes. I was excited for the hottness of the W/K scene and I liked the one-night-stand feel of the W/F scene. It's funny... I watched the show last night with my honey, as always, and also two other dudes who had maybe seen one eppy in their lives. For that reason alone I was glad to have such an extended "Previously on Buffy the Vampire Slayer." It was weird, it was like watching the show and looking for problems with it that they might see as people who don't love the show. I didn't like how self-conscious (yes, I am including myself as part of the show) I got in watching with them. Wow... tonight is Angel's finale. Perhaps we'll get to see if Connor is the BB or if W&H are back for good or if Cordy will wake up or if Angel will Shanshu. I guess we'll get to see if all of that happens and what parts of it won't happen and now I'm just yammering so I will stop.

For all of you who wanted to know but didn't feel like braving the ep board here is what Carter Bell said about Kennedy: Honestly... I'm actually starting to like the character simply because she is able to illicit such irrational, hate-filled diatribes from the majority of you. Kennedy is no Tara...granted. But remember that Tara was almost universally hated and reviled at first by fans as the reason why Willow and Oz broke up. Kennedy does come off as a bit of a usurper but after reading so many "Kennedy must die" proclamations on this board I began to question my own dislike of her and whether it was grounded in anything other than sexist emotionalism. I realized that many of the reasons why I wasn't feeling her character are the same excuses misogynists use when dismissing forceful women as bitches. Unlike so many other characters in the Buffyverse, Kennedy is not at all conflicted about who she is, what she wants and what she is capable of doing/becoming. She is the most fully actualized persona ever to show up in Sunnydale and like many personalities who don't display outward signs of vulnerability, she is resented. Still, Kennedy is what Buffy could be without all the boy-trouble, or what Faith could become sans the self-hating psychosis, or what Kendra might have been without the prim uptightness and screwy accent. Kennedy is a take no prisoner, make no apologies woman/lesbian/potential. In a way she is the synthesis of what the show has been promoting for the last seven years; a truly empowered young woman. She'll never be my favorite character but I think I've finally stopped hating her because of what she represents. Also it's in my nature to stick up for the underdog and on this board there is no canine lower than Kennedy so how's about we at least try and understand her character's motivations before dismissing them and her out of hand? Diane made me laugh - la la la! I can just see the commercial for Dell now! I thought the Dell-guy couldn't possibly get more obnoxious, I now see that the obnoxious could increase to infinity with this new twist! The whole thing makes me think of "Surf & Turf" only you'd have to replace that last "f" with a "d." Spring Summer

I love this note from your grandma, Lee. Thanks for sharing. She sounds like a very good grandma. It was easy to read, in such few words, how much she loves you. I liked the part where she said she doesn't get this Buffy show interest. I was thinking though - has she seen James? No woman is too old to see at least that part of the attraction. :-) Spring Summers

I have tried to describe to her the wonderous person that JM is but so far no go. I've told her how beautiful he is and then I get to hear, "Now, Lee. It's not what's the outside that is important, it's what's on the inside that counts." To which I respond, "But Grandmother, he's beautiful inside AND out!" Lee Hollins

Lee, please print this out and send it to your Grandmother from me: Dear Mary: We have never met, nor are we likely to. I have never met your granddaughter, but yet I count her as one of my dearest friends. You have every right to be proud of her. She has wisdom, insight and a literate turn of mind. I've debated her several times on various issues and it has become a sport that I enjoy more with each encounter. In your delightful note you state that you do not understand why Lee has such an attachment to Buffy. Perhaps this will explain part of it. Sometimes an entertainment will far exceed its creator's original purpose--which was simply to entertain. Sometimes it will enlighten, involve, educate or inspire. We who are so connected managed to find all of those things. Perhaps when you are well, you'll allow her to show you some what we see. I am glad that you are doing better. My own grandmother was a source of joy to me. She was just short of 101 when, at last, I lost her. I have four grandchildren of my own who are so very dear to me. I send you love and my best wishes for a speedy recovery. Sincerely yours, Diane Ullman

I don't know about the upn site. I'm trying to stay away from as many sites as possible. I wouldn't chance it, if I were you. In the teaser, it looks like Buffy is fighting (I don't think we see what she is fighting). I think she's in the vineyard. Angel is leaning against the wall with his arms crossed. (then it goes something like...) A: (in a slightly superior/Angelusy tone of voice) I knew you had it in you. (cut to Buffy standing in front of Angel) B: (in shock and awe) Angel? (she leans in to kiss...cut to another scene) If anyone remembers it differently, feel free to correct me.

I'm pretty much in the camp of those who think Angel might get in the way of the characters we want to see. There are a couple of things, however, that came to mind while I was working today. I think it's entirely possible that Joss is trying to give fans a little taste of all the things they loved most about the show. An emotional moment between Xander and Willow, for example, did a world of good for fans of those two characters. Something always clicked between Alyson and Nick. They were--and are--magic on screen. We got a heavy dose of Buffy and Spike as well. This served two vital purposes: 1. It was a nod to the long-suffering Buffy-Spike shippers who wanted to see the Slayer finally accept his love, and possibly return it in that note. 2. By doing so, it strengthened her resolve to do what she had to do. Looking back on it, I don't think Buffy could have done what she did without circumstances as they were. The SIT's would have only mucked up the works if they'd been in that winery. It was in the context of the plot, and it filled an emotional need. Angel has the same two pronged potential: 1. Those who wanted to see Buffy and Angel on screen together one more time will get their wish. I'm not certain how it's going to play out, but one way or the other, he's there. 2. The First as Richard Wilkens made an impression on Faith when he told her not to trust Buffy. If conflict somehow springs up between them, there is only one character in the entire Jossverse who has the trust of both Slayers. That's right kids....ol' Deadboy himself. If Angel is to be of use, to my mind this is how he could do it. As usual, I'm probably way off. Without spoilers I'm a pretty useless plot predictor. Even if I am, though, it makes pretty good sense to me. Rob Sorenson

(Hunter's review didn't send me to the medicine cabinet for anti-depressants like last week, Still....) There is one point he made that I feel the need to disagree with. He said that Buffy will fight alone, with no inclination to have her family by her side. Those aren't his exact words, but they're close. I think Faith separating the primary Scoobies from her group, instructing them to keep watch over Buffy, sets up a meeting between the core group that should have already happened. On the other hand, I could simply be wishing REALLY hard. If they're going to have a massive final battle, however, it might take the entire final episode. I'd like a meaningful reconciliation in Episode 21, and a leaner, meaner Scooby Gang kicking evil ass...once more, with feeling. I think...no, scratch that....I HOPE there's a chance that Faith, Wood, Andrew, and the surviving SIT's remain isolated from the rest, eventually meeting at some point in the finale for the big shoot 'em up. This would allow for quality Scooby time, which I strongly desire at this juncture.

...I hope Angel shanshus tonight. If he does, Xander can kick the living crap out of him next week for stealing his girl for the first three seasons. Hey, I can dream, can't I?
