I wrote an appreciative post to Hunter, who deserved it. I came right back here. >>Shiver....<< Nan

The teaser is NOT up at upn.com If it is eventually put up, there is the merest hint of a spoiler (one line description of the coming ep--no details) on the site and you really can't avoid seeing it in an attempt to call up the spoiler. I'll rewatch the teaser on my tape and try to describe it later.

David...how can you post at 3am + and then post at 7+am? Do you NEVER need sleep? Or...are you sleeping right now?

Just got back on the board and decided it would be quicker to post as I go rather than write notes and post at the end. Sorry if it annoys anyone that I'm posting before catching up. Nan said: //Either I think Spike is sharper than he really is, or the writers think he's dumber than he really is. His confessing to not being a mental giant, one who only thinks with the "little head," sells him a bit short...but also makes him a better match for Buffy, whose strongest suit has always been action, not book larnin'.// I had the same reaction. I chose to write it off as Spike being self deprecating for some reason. I was similarly surprised LMPTM when Spike commented that with everything people kept shoving up into his head it was a wonder there was any room left for his brain. Then Giles said he didn't think it took up much room. But I just wrote it off as Giles being deliberately nasty because he knows damn well that Spike is sharp as a razor (unless the writers have all gone revisionist on us). deborah cohen

Lee, I am so glad your grandmother is doing well. My grandmother was a champion gardener and I especially miss her when my iris start to bloom. That said, be careful of giving her too much JM in one dose - remember to to be careful of her heart! Becky Henderson

Robert said: "I wanted the Scooby Gang to feel pretty awful about what they did. I understand what they did, but they had one more lesson to learn about understanding Buffy, just as she did about them. I got exactly what I wanted in that regard as well." What gave you the impression that they felt awful about what they did to Buffy? Sheepish, yes. Guilty, yeh. But I didn't get that they regretted their actions. deborah cohen

Was it lust/love or just pleasure at seeing her first love again? Unfortunately I found the promo snippitt inconclusive but I'm betting on the latter. deborah cohen

Rusty said: //Spike's brain: OK. we all know that blood goes to the part that wants it the most, but that doesn't mean Spike's big brain doesn't work just fine. Spike won't even admit to himself that he's both book larned and smart since he thinks that would make him more like Rupert and less handsome and athletic. Right now the worst thing he could do is act smarter than Buffy. Altho, duh. Things I want to see Spike do next week: Shag Buffy and kick Angel's lumpy white ass.// YES! Well said, Rusty. debo' deborah cohen

Mary said: //For a good part of this season, I've felt a bit like I'm being manipulated by ME. ***Here's another new character - do you like this one? How about this one? Her? Him? Oh, and here's Faith - would you what a show with her?*** I honestly believe that on some level, ME was trying to put together some characters/chemistry for a spin off, figuring SMG would leave...But I, on the other hand, wanted to see MORE of the Scoobies, and Giles and Spike. More of the characters I care about and am invested in. I want THEIR stories told more fully. Everything doesn't have to have a big bow on it, but I just have this awful feeling that so much is going to be left unresolved.// You have echoed the thoughts of each and every S'cubie. We have all voiced the same complaints and concerns at one time or another over the course of the season. Did you see Patti's list of what she wanted to see resolved by the end that she's afraid never will be? Patti, I wish you'd repost that for us. I'd love a copy and I can't remember where it's buried. debo' deborah

I have positively no evidence to back any of my imperssions of Willow and Xander's specific feelings. Dawn, however, clearly felt remorse (which Giles immediately nipped in the bud, by the way). Willow and Xander's actions are far more subtle. Without question, though, nobody feels good about what happened that night. Notice how dazed Willow and Xander appear in that disjointed opening sequence. They're trying to pitch in, but their heart isn't in it. When Spike lets them have it, neither one says so much as a word, and Willow knew damn well her little rehearsed speech would sound pretty pathetic to him. As I've said all along, I completely understand why the Gang acted as they did. They were scared because Buffy shut them out, right after they advised her against doing something that she made them do anyway. That didn't make it right, however, and they're smart enough to figure that out. Nobody was angry with Buffy; they were scared. I think Willow and Xander deserve a little benefit of the doubt here just as much as Buffy does. They made a mistake under pressure. I think everyone should forgive each other and move on. Buffy has already learned some important things about herself with Spike's help; that alone made this whole thing worthwhile. Well, that and the removal of some SITs. :-) Rob Sorenson

Patti said: "Anyhow, the pace has definitely picked up. I don't want it to end -- I want Buffy to go on forever and ever, just like it is right now. Please, Joss, please .... I think our pleas would have to be directed to Sarah...Joss has been willing, all along." Apologies if someone else has already mentioned this but I've read in more than one article/interview that Joss had decided that Season 7 would be the last for him with Buffy regardless of Sarah's decision. He was tired. Don't understand why he would have walked away from Buffy though if he was truly interested in a spin-off. Seems like it'd be a lot more work to develop a new show than to keep a great one going. (as long as there were still great stories to tell which he has made it clear that he still thinks there are). Oh God, I'm never going to catch up! Sigh. Onto #271. debo' deborah cohen
