Lee, I'm so glad you obediently posted your grandmother's letter. It made me cry. She sounds like such a beatiful woman. You are lucky to have each other. Diane, your reply was beatiful too. It is so nice to know that letter writing skills are not yet lost. Although, I think that they will disappear in my generation. E-mail does not lead to beautiful prose. My thanks to you Dawn for the quickie recap of the preview for next week. Sounds like maybe Angel IS the first. Hmmm. Sue, thanks for the offer of a more in depth review, and thanks for the "beware of upn to stay spoiler free" warning. Much appreciated. Mary, you made me laugh. Poofter indeed. Ha! And as for the poofter in question, I can't believe that you get to see the episode tonight! I just got to see last weeks last night. Doesn't show here until next Tuesday. Wait! My friend has digital cable! I have to sing off NOW to call him in time to tape it! Ta! Watergal =^..^=

Hey Rob, Are you having any problems with the sound on your WB station? Trying to figure out if it is just my TV ('cept it is doing it on both TVs), my cable, or just BrightHouse in general. Thanks , Rae

My buddy is taping Angel for me! So I won't have to dodge Angel spoilers... (well not spoilers exactly, not considered spoilers after it airs, let's call them bitters...) I won't have to dodge bitters for a whole week! Only for a few days and that I can handle. Woohoo! Horray for friends with digital cable, VCRs, blank tapes and a free phoneline to take emergency Angel-crisis phone calls! Watergal, who is much relieved.

No, my sound is fine. Had a power outage while I was at work, but it didn't affect the sound.

Danger Spoiler. After he was on Buffy I posted that Holden Webster should have lived and gone to LA to get a job with W&H. And there he is! OK, not as HWebster, but there. Cool!

Spring said this (partly quoting me from an earlier post): //deb says: "He wasn't there when she explained her conclusions to the group and argued the necessity for going back into the vineyard. Spike didn't know what the "Discussion" Willow referred to was about. So, how did he know what she'd been right about?" She led them all to the vineyard the week before, when Xander got hurt. So I assumed Spike was talking about that - she was right to go there, after learning that Caleb said he "had something of hers." He DID have something.// You know, it hadn't occurred to me that what Caleb meant by his original *message* to Buffy was the *sword in the stone*. Thanks Spring. But I still don't think that Spike was referring to the previous week's attack when he told Buffy that she'd been right. No hard supporting evidence, just my impression from the way he said it. The delight and excitement he displayed in telling her she was vindicated seem inappropriate for a situation that had such horrific an outcome, regardless of whether the decision proves to have been the right one. Had he been referring to the actual raid on the vineyard I would think his tone would have been a good deal more sober. No, it really sounded to me as if he was referring to her conclusions from her confrontation with Caleb at the HS. Conclusions and ideas he had no means of knowing at that point. It reminds me of how in First Date while in Wood's car he said that they knew where the Ashanti demon was because Willow had done a locater spell, even though he left to find Buffy before any mojo took place. Sorry, but to me it feels like an inconsistency of writing. Otherwise it would feel as if Spike was speaking out of character. I don't think I expressed the distiction I'm trying to make very clearly. I'm tired and hungry and I wanna go home but I've still got at least 10 more pages of posts to get through. deborah cohen

Mary said: //When Spike reached out to cup Buffy’s cheek, and she turns away from his touch, we don’t see Spike’s face, but we see his hand draw back, pause, his fingers curl in a moment of indecision before he withdraws it. And I think it was a turning point for him. The moment, perhaps, when, despite other things he’s said, Spike acknowledged finally, fully, to himself, that Buffy does not love him. At least, not in the way he had hoped she someday would.// After seeing the promo for Touched last week I posted my fear that Buffy's turning away from Spike's intention to cup her cheek suggested to me that maybe David was right; (some previous, long ago post of his) Buffy does not return his love. I know I've been desparately clinging to the belief that that she does, it's just that she is in such deep denial about her feelings that she doesn't realize it. But when I saw that rejection response my heart sunk. I do believe you are right concluding that that's how Spike took it. I'll hold out hope for Buffy's realization of her true love for Spike bursting through the fortress of her Denial until the bitter end though. debo' cohen

Vlad said: //I choose to believe that what Spike is doing here is out of his respect for Buffy, not his "love" for her. And I would be willing to bet that him being "noble" is putting him in some mental AND physical torment. How that could possibly be the best night of his existance befuddles me. I have been in that type of relationship before and let me tell you...in the end, when it eventually all goes away, it just hurts. He is going to always love her and at the same time always know that he got used...at least jsut a little bit.// I agree. It may have been one of Spike's finest moments but best? No, the fact that despite the heartbreak of his *realization* (whether or not that proves true) that Buffy doesn't return his love he still was able to do and say what was best for took great strength and powerful love. But I can't believe it brought him any happiness other than the gratification of knowing that he'd succeeded in genuinely helping her. Perhaps that's what Mary meant. debo' deborah cohen

Same reaction here -- though, is JW typecasting this particular actor? I mean, brainy psych student (but evil vamp) on BtVS, and brainy manager of R&D (but for evil law firm) on AtS? Can't process everything yet -- but had to join in your joyous whoop! Laura

So, does this mean that Connor is gone? And that Holden/science guy (jumped off of the couch when I saw his face) will be in next season's cast? Please renew, please renew, please renew.

I know WHAT Angel did re Connor--I just haven't a clue how he did it! He swings at Connor, there's a flash of light, and the next thing we (I) know Connor's had a memory wipe and is living in a woodsy cabin with his large and genial and loving family, obviously with no least recollection of matters ever having been otherwise. Again: HUH? Nan Dibble
