Deb says: "I agree. It may have been one of Spike's finest moments but best? No, the fact that despite the heartbreak of his *realization* (whether or not that proves true) that Buffy doesn't return his love he still was able to do and say what was best for took great strength and powerful love. But I can't believe it brought him any happiness other than the gratification of knowing that he'd succeeded in genuinely helping her. Perhaps that's what Mary meant." Mary replies: I still stand by my belief that no matter what the future holds, Spike will always treasure that night. That he will always take great satisfaction AND happiness in having been able to 'be a man' for Buffy. Spike once told Buffy that the best night of his life was the night he killed the Chinese Slayer. Personally, I believe he would later have considered the night between Smashed and Wrecked the best night of his life, before Buffy's morning regrets began to steal hope from him. After the AR - knowing what he'd done, that he couldn't be a man, seeing Buffy cringe away from him early this season... And then to have her reach out to him, to need him... To trust him... And to be able to give her what she needed even if he did believe (perhaps in error) that she didn't love him... Yes, I still say that Spike would consider this the best night of his existence. Lorne's going to be a Hollywood agent! Does this mean a guest appearance for Cher?

I don't think we're supposed to know "how" he did it. I suppose that's part of what we're supposed to find out next season (if there is one). It was also obvious that no one ELSE has any recollection of Connor, either, as evidenced by Fred's "Who's Connor?" Gotta admit, I was near tears watching Angel watch his son, then walk away. Waaah. (Well...that's one way to get rid of the brat.) Rhonda

Connor gone. Does this mean they have the money to hire JM?

They un-Dawned him! Buffy, season 5, open brain, insert memories of Dawn. Angel, end of season 4, open brains, remove memories of Connor. Never, NEVER, in the history of television has a character been written out in this manner. No, plane crash and missing, no amnesia, no death, not even going to an alternate dimension. And...what is done can be undone. Connor can always be written back in. Boy, is this going to save Cordelia a LOT of embarrassment when she wakes up! Is she even going to remember Connor? If no Connor, no pregnancy. Wait a minute--do they all remember Jasmine--where do they think she came from--way too many loose ends here!

Unfortunately I think JM's salary is a teensy bit more than VK's probably was

Sue said: They un-Dawned him! Mischievous monks! Those rascals, always up to something! Magic, which will explain anything, is the only answer I can see, and Sue, I think you're probably right. Nan

Sorry Mary. It was wrong of me to suggest you meant my own interpretation of the scene rather than what you actually said. When I think of your command of the language and gift for expression, which btw, explains my love for Journeys, I'm ashamed at having presumed. My bad. deborah cohen

I started playing board catch up at 5:40. 408 posts later and a number of contributions from myself along the way and I am finally caught up at 9:51. But at the same price I paid last week. DUH, Angel was on tonight (picture Deborah smacking herself on the head). Oh man! Sigh. So going home now. If I get a parking space within half a mile of my apt. in less than 40 minutes of searching it will be a bloody miracle. Night all. deborah cohen
