I dunno. It seemed to me there was a definite aspect of "trigger" about it - the way they all arrived in the same place at the same time. Oooh, it's an English!Rachael post! ;D Indeed.

Were they actually triggered? Or did they just sort of figure it out? I have not seen the episodes yet where Sharon was triggered, or any other Cylon for that matter , so I am not sure, but it does not seem like they were triggered to me, or at least not what was my Idea of what would happen when they were triggered. I dunno. It seemed to me there was a definite aspect of "trigger" about it - the way they all arrived in the same place at the same time. Yes, it was a very "Close Encounters of the Third Kind" moment, without the Devil's Tower mashed potatoes.

I finally got a chance to watch my tape of the 2 part finale on Good Friday, which certainly gave added impact to my viewing. It's taken my this long to get the chance to put down my thoughts and I want to get it out of the way before I lose track of those thoughts and need to re-view!
On that special day, I couldn't help but think "Trial of Baltar" - "Passion of Christ"? There weren't clear parallels but much visual imagery pointing to a Christ-like Gaius.
**Heretofore just unkempt and scruffy, now the cinematography highlights his long hair and beard and almost soulful eyes. **The denunciation by Gaeta - the denunciation before Pilate/the High Priests? or perhaps the betray by Peter? **The red headscarf - so like religious icons of Christ. Particularly use of red for the "passion". **The 3 women meeting Baltar when others have deserted him - the women remaing at the foot of the cross? The women at the tomb finding who?/what? - the risen Christ? an angel?
If Baltar is not one of the newly uncovered Cylons, then what are we the viewers being led to think from the deliberate imagery? Is he the Cylon "god"? the last undisclosed and "special" Cylon?
I remember again, D'Anna's "forgive me" (paraphased) "I didn't know." Is this to make us think "Father forgive them for they know not what they do."?
Very interesting ending to the season. And now almost a year to wait ....

Also, the way Lee describes Baltar, as a scapegoat, some one for everyone else to direct their rage and hatred. "you, you have to die, because... because we don't like you very much." Very Jesus-like.
