Betsy said: 'Hey, Patti, do you remember that awful tongue piercing from the convention? I mean I had a conversation with the girl and I don't remember seeing a tongue stud. Am I just going blind?'
No, I don't. I talked to her too, and I noticed neither a stud, nor wind whistling through a hole in her tongue...

I should have known with all that red hair! My dad is a total redhead. In fact, that's his nickname, RED. Eventhough his hair is mostly white now, everyone still calls him that. I think it's sweet. And whomever said that old people were cranky, is right on! Before my mom passed she was so irritable. Actually, sometimes it was funny, other times exasperating! My dad is getting the same way now. Totally love him though. No one tells a story or makes me laugh like my dad!

Sue said: 'And I just have a really bad feeling about bittersweet (with maybe more bitter than sweet) endings. I hope the kiss was enough to make the B/A shippers happy, but I want more (and feel less and less like I am going to get it) for Spike.
Time to hunt up my 10 year old bottle of Xanax and see if there are any left in it (do those things expire?)'
Sue, is there time to mail me one of those old Xanax before Tuesday? I keep repeating this mantra (no, not 'Trust Joss') - 'Spike will be on Angel. Spike will be on Angel'. But I DON"T WANT HIM TO DIE! Not even for 'only a minute'! And I want kissage and huggage and shaggage (shaggage?) but I KNOW there's no time for that...
All I DO know is that PACEY GOT THE GIRL on the Dawson's Creek finale, and Spike always said she'd never love him, so maybe Spike will get the girl too.... (I've never watched Dawson's Creek, so I don't know the girl's name, it just rolled across the bottom of the screen on 'E' this morning and I recognized 'Pacey'.)

Sayeth The Slayer herself: "You're my strength, Xander. You're the reason I've made it this far."
Buffy's feelings toward humanity are tied directly to the only completely human male figure in her life who has been consistently there. Everyone else, at different stages, either went away or tried to kill her. This is not to paint any man as more important than anyone else; I would never disrespect Spike or the original Deadboy that way. It IS, however, meant to paint Xander as an equal to them in terms of his necessity.
She made it gloriously clear in the last episode that her hidden strength through it all was the human who just kept on coming, no matter how scared or hurt he was. Even without an eye, and clearly terrified, Xander wanted to be by Buffy's side.
She told him, "You will be."
Xander could die in the last episode. I don't know if he will...but he certainly could. Buffy made it clear to him that he will be forever with her at this point, with or without his physical presence...and no one will ever completely understand it but them. She didn't tell a roomful of people because they probably wouldn't get it...but the two of them do. That's pretty special to me, and I could deal with his death a lot easier knowing that he got to hear her give voice to what Xander fans have always known.
Somewhere in the background, he was always there. Sometimes he was a jerk clouded by jealousy. Sometimes he was self righteous to the extreme. Once he had to make a fateful snap decision that was jealous and protective in equal measure. He is, after all, only human.
On occasion he's been so far in the background you could barely make him out, but he was there. Every single time, for better or worse, Xander showed up. She may not have made a point of it, but some part of Buffy always noticed. She just never told him that she did. Until now.
Have I mentioned that I'm really happy?

Sue said: 'I don't know, but I'll bet the amulet is not for Buffy but for a souled vampire. That's why TFE had such a thing about Angel and then Spike. Is Spike wearing it a good thing then?'
That whole thing of Lilah giving Angel something to help defeat evil in Sunnydale was confusing to me. I don't for a minute believe W&H are good guys now. WHY would they want to defeat evil? Are there not only First Evils but Second Evils and Third Evils, with their own congregations? It's too much for my compartmentalized mind.

Betsy wrote of Dr. Evil's accent
//MILLEEON dollars//
and then said
//Please don't hold the French part agin me//
I don't know Betsy- sounds kind of french to me- ergo Evil(?)
seriously- I always find people's backgronds fascinating- Scottish/Irish/French- what a wonderful history that contains...
I adore Sir Walter Scott/Racine and Oscar Wilde( I think he was Irish right?)
I feel like a kid asking for a story- but if you have any about your ancestors please*pretty*please
(Rumor is my grandfather was Scottish but those were b/4 the days that peopel talked about much backyard "romances"- my grandmother kept a prayer book he gave her though and it was beautiful.)

Sue said: 'Since I didn't really get with you guys until after mid-season, I'm looking forward to re-discussing the early eps with you all. Looking for foreshadowing, etc '
Cooool. I LOVE foreshadowing.
Sometimes it's not so fun though. I was just archiving and posts were discussing favorite dialogue from 'Something Blue' and the Xander line was quoted 'Can I be blind too?'
I know SOME 'foreshadowing' is just coincidental, but that line made me wince.

I must admit I have a special place in my heart for the Xandman. I loved it that Xander saved the world last season and not Buffy. It said a lot about the man he's become. I also like that episode--don't know the name--where he saved the school from those dead teens and had sex with Faith all in one night. That was a GREAT episode and one of my all time favorites, and not a Spike in sight! You're right, he's the heart of the group. He has no superpowers but he goes in there and fights anyway. He fights because he loves his friends. In a way, he's the bravest of all of them. And that totally sucked when he lost his eye!

Rob, you said it all. I really thought that Buffy's scene with Xander was touching, lovely, and overdue. He really is the heart of the core group, and now even Buffy's said it.
I'm glad we got to see it before things go crazy next week, and I sure hope that it wasn't a goodbye!

//David, is Kazza a free site? I've heard of it a lot, but never gone there.// Kazaa is free software you can install on your computer and then share files between you and other Kazaa users (or choose not to share, just download the stuff they're sharing), sort of like Napster. The better option is Kazaa Lite because it doesn't have the spyware and ads built into it, but it is a little more complicated to install. The link to download the software is www.kazaalite.com.
