I don't know, Patti. I think your story tops mine because of the historical flavor. Also, it was made into a book and a movie. Mine just had a lot of ick factor. It's fascinating in a sick, those-idiots-buried-dead-people-back-then--point of view. Though I must admit I have a wierd fascination with that kind of stuff. When I went to Edinborough, Scotland a few years ago, I took a city tour and they told all kinds of gruesome stories about the university and how it got its bodies for the medical training there. I also took the Jack the Ripper tour in London...hmmm, no wonder I'm hooked on Buffy! Never thought of that before.

Nan said: ' Power doesn't come in just two flavors. Some are neutral. Some are favorable to humanity's interests at a given time yet inimical to those interests at a different time. The Powers have their own agendas and they are not mankind agendas. Creation is not human-centric. That fact that we can only judge by our own standards and by whether things are agreeable or disagreeable to us doesn't mean that creation is set up that way.'
I think Joss is asking those questions Nan, but I really don't think that is the conclusion we can reach.
(Laying aside my RL belief that the Power that Is is completely concerned with us)
Because..I'm a human. I don't much care if some neutral power has different interests or not. In the Buffyverse, the definition of evil that concerns me is - does it hurt people and sexy vampires? Because at the end of next Tuesday night's story, I have to know that Buffy's journey meant something, not that it was just a pawn in some game we don't even know is being played. I don't think that Joss has been telling this story for seven years to end it with 'oh yeah...it's full of sound and fury and means nothing'. That would be worse to me than 'Normal Again'. Human agendas are the only ones that matter here (in this story), because they're the only ones we've got.

And Ellie said: From your post to the writers of the finale's ears-
And I said: Amen to that.

Thanks Betsy. It's just a feeling of limbo right now...endings and I need my next project, and I'll be fine tomorrow probably. Unless I stay up all night again!

David said: "That's good news if you ask me. I've always had a thing for older women." Well, that's good news for most of US then.

David said: 'My dyslexia kicked in the first time I glanced over this, and I quickly read "Are there not first Elvises and second Elvises ...." And then I re-read it the right way, and realized ... I had it right the first time.

Well, I got a good giggle out of that one, anyway!

David: 'managed to trace my origins back to about six weeks before the day I did it, then got wrapped up in a really cool episode of Buffy and never went back to it. '
TOO funny! Well, I had an aunt who did all that for me, David. She didn't 'get' Buffy!

David said: 'Patti, wasn't it you that told me you'd seen Queensryche in concert, that is up until Geoff Tate managed to get sick or something? Anyhow, I'm sure if you looked hard enough, there was a mosh pit at that arena. '
No, we discussed the music, but it was someone else who said that. I remember the post. Gee...it was just last night...or this morning. But about 300 posts ago...

Have no fear Patti ... no one was doing Part 20 so you are good to go! I'll do Part 15 since you took both 20 and 21.

Well, my dog didn't like it. She wanted inside even though we were all outside. Sometimes she howls like a wolf--but she'll do that in the middle of the day.

Sounds like you WERE drawn to some of the best girl power icons. I do remember Honey West, though I was very young, I liked her. The Bionic Woman was one of my favorite characters (also liked her bionic dog)and of course the incomparable Emma Peel...
I don't like the term 'feminazi' because I think it trivializes the real nazis by comparison to radical fanatic feminists. I also despise political correctedness...
The funny thing is I was never drawn to any of the girl power icons b/4 particularly although I did love Honey West (b/4 your time) and Diana Rigg from The Avengers and Lindsey Wagnner from Bionic Woman ( now what was my point? oh yes i negated it)>

Hi Nan, Yes, it's out on video. To give you an idea of the scope and the look of the work here is the link to the website for the BBC dramatization: www.bbc.co.uk/drama/gormenghast/JRM is a young Irish actor of great power, intensity, and charisma. He also plays guitar and sings beautifully but unfortunately the only opportunity I know of to hear him is through his David Bowie inspired film Velvet Goldmine. I suppose a lot more people know him from that movie than Gormenghast but I was never into the whole glitter rock thing so I didn't care for it too much. But the singing/guitar playing takes place in the film before he develops the glitter rock style and remakes himself into that David Bowie type star. I found his singing and playing to be quite haunting. I hear he prefers to play acoustic guitar and sing traditional Irish ballads; how I wish he'd record an album. B.Monkey is another good movie to catch him in that's available to rent. Okay, I'm done talking about an actor other than JM who, let there be no mistake, is first and foremost in my heart and mind. deborah
