Ok. So why aren't we watching Joan of Arcadia? Is it because there's too much about God and religion in it? You take the God element out of it and replace with vampires and you got Buffy/Angel.I finally watched the downloaded premiere. I think I had tears about 4 times during the episode.
Heartwrenching storyline about son who was paralyzed after he and his friend (who was driving drunk) got in a car accident which left the son paralyzed.
Now, the friend is suing the family for emotional distress over having caused the accident - but they blame the son because "he should have stopped him from driving drunk". Messed up.
Good storyline about the mother finding God and her husband struggling with his faith.
Of course, there's also Joan still seeing God in various forms and relationship with her group of friends.
Some funny stuff. Some sad stuff. A lot of great moments. It's definitely a "Must See".
I haven't watched it much before this year. But I will be from now on.
If you want to, you can download the first 2 episodes of this year here.

Karen,
I'm definitely watching Joan. I watched most of last season. It fulfills one of my primary requirements for decent TV: it's different. And the teenage characters are most definitely not "beautiful Hollywood people."
I think there are a few other people here watching and it sometimes get's a bit of discussion like Gilmore Girls does (informally) but being on Friday night when posting slows up for the weekend it overlooked.
I'll get on Friday nights or Sat and discuss it with you. The ending last week was so touching that Jim actually brought it up the next day and said he choked up.
Go for it.
My week looks like:
Sunday: Desperate Housewives (we'll see)
Monday: pretty much, football or nothing
Tuesday: Gilmore and Veronica
Wed: LOST and West Wing
Thursday: ER if I can be bothered, but probably not
Friday: Joan of Arcadia
Saturday: watching tapes of the things I missed during the week.
That's 6 hours (I'm not counting ER) which is more TV than I've committed to in a long time.)
Hmm, 3 of my shows are about high school/college girls.
I'd trade it all in for one hour of Jossverse.
