DAWN: Where do we go from here?
BUFFY / SPIKE: Where do we go from here?
GILES: The battle's done and we kind of won
TARA / GILES: So we sound our Vict'ry cheer Where do we go from here? Yes, it's the mostly silent question we have all been asking ourselves since May 19th, 2004. Well, we have a suggestion...and it's about suggestions. We are creating this thread to allow a forum for ideas about where to go to next. Many of you have already made comments and suggestions. Patti has volunteered to round those strays up and put them in this corral with the new ones you will hopefully post. We will treat these as sort of an "Idea Pool" drawing from them as needed. Perhaps it will be the entire idea used in full, or just a portion. Perhaps we will combine a couple together. Or maybe they will lead to other ideas to implement instead. Regardless, they will be beneficial to the furtherment of the S 3 and will be read with interest and respect. So please, gether your thoughts, think about where you want to see us grow now and post! Volunteer! The Soulful Spike Society is nothing without it's people. So many of our already great things have come from tiny suggestions or independant endeavors. You have put your stamp on this site. Let's keep stampin'! Vlad, TA, tp ________________________________________ To get the ball sort of rolling, Patti, Rae, Rob, and myself have been working on a Round Robin II and we are considering releasing the chapters already written weekly. If you haven't already read the Round Robin 1 on the website, I would encourage you to do so! And, more importantly, I would encourage anyone who thinks it potentially fun to try their hand at it. Gather 2 or 3 of your fellow S'cubies together and write one of your own for posting. There's a lot of talented writers out there. We can tell from your posting! Don't be shy...Rob hadn't written a word for public consumption before he came here. You never know what talent you might discover. So, if there is interest and we RR2 writers agree, you may be seeing some off the wall BtVS fiction coming your way. I hope you join us. Vlad

Can we assume more fanfiction will show up outside RR2, Spring will continue her thing, the occasional essay and event reporting, the eventual capture and study of James Marsters, and some other stuff which is presumably what you want us to come up with in this space?
How about a database of philosophical, ethical, ect. ideas in the series indexed by episode, character, theme in which all scubies can contribute under each heading. Do you percieve perfectly my wondorous and fantasmick idea in all its unfathomable glory? Yes? Excellent. I look forward to its implementation and the consequent re-ordering of the world towards a greater and more sustainable plane of existance.

Well, OK, that works; how about discussion of long-term character arcs in both BtVS and AtS and what they predict about the theoretical AtS season 6? Julia, desperate to post something?

Not that I expect to have much to contribute to the choice - the ideas floated so far (by Sue, among others) have appealed to me. Especially since I never did get to discuss the early seasons of BtVS with you folks. Or the early Angels, for that matter.
Or were we going to wait till after summer to make with the structure?
Just curious, and not wanting to see anyone drift away. . . .

Quote: I like the character discussion idea. We could also discuss episodes kind of 'free-form' as they are played on FX, too.
How about setting up a schedule to discuss 'Firefly'? And then we could set up a thread for spoilers for the movie. That is, after Riff can bring himself to give Joss some of his money.

I made this offer to Vlad, but given the subject was brought up I'll share my offer with the board:
If folks were so inclined, I'd be willing to review episodes of Firefly on as regular a basis as I could manage--I figure it'll help me keep in practice for when Alias returns, and it would give us something to focus a discussion on. If y'all are interested, of course.

FX is working it's way thru season 6. Season 7 should end near the end of June, after S'cubiefest.
I suggest that we start in July watching season 1, two episodes a week, all together. Many of us own the tapes or DVDs and others can either tape FX as they are shown or at the very worst read transcripts or Buffyguide.
(144 Buffys + 110 Angel's = 254 divided by 2 per week = 128 weeks = 2.5 years of episode discussion (along with any new shows or movies which come up)

Will we watch the first three seasons of Buffy first, then one Buffy, one Angel through the seasons, then finally season five of Angel alone? Curious.... I ask because of the crossovers that happened.

Joshua - there is something about the fantasmagorick way you write that just cracks me up. You should stop by more often. Yes, I plan to keep doing my analyses. And I am guessing others plan to keep writing their fic, etc. And while we wait for that JM-capture though, here are some other ideas: [/li][li]YES to Yorick! Use her efforts to promote discussing the Firefly eps for anyone interested. [/li][li]If we don't get a more appealing possibility, we could offer Tru Calling reviews starting in Sept. I heard it was renewed, and I caught a few of the final eps and thought it was getting better. [/li][li] Tru Calling or not, we should pick something "alive" for Sept. I am willing to do the reviews if no one else steps up - though since I am already doing those analyses, would be happy to step aside for someone else. Just saying I am available in a pinch. [/li][li]Trying to organize episode or arc or character discussion for any of the Jossverse shows is not a bad idea, but we have the Episode discussion thread, and we have the Spikecentricity thread, and we bring stuff up on the main board, and it's all good. But it seems to lack sustaining power - peters out quickly. Not saying bad idea; saying we need more than that I think, to sustain the board. There is just no way to make discussing the old eps as exciting as discussing and waiting for new ones. [/li][li] Would like to see a return of some form of the Pic Contest. [/li][li]Erin mentioned doing AtS analyses starting with Season 1; if she wants to do this, I vote yes. That could be used to generate ep discussion about AtS. [/li][li]Round Robins: I posted some interest in doing this awhile back but got no responses. I would be willing to partner up with 1 to 3 others to do another one. [/li][li]Some sites are doing a "virtual Season 6" of AtS. Those of us who have written or are interested in writing fan-fic could possibly organize to do this as well. I would imagine hammering out a main arc and doing very skimpy sketching out of each "ep," then assigning the ep to the interested parties. This would be very hard to do, but not impossible. OK. That's all I got for now.

All good ideas. I especially like Spring's idea of a virtual season six of AtS.
Tru Calling is interesting and is getting better. I think that show would be a good idea of a "live" show to follow.

Another thought:
[/li][li]Assign someone to review any major Jossverse related movies or TV shows/specials. I am talking about things like the Firefly movie . . . or say . . . Alexis D shows up in a new series . . . etc.

I am very excited to see all the ideas just flowing!
Looks to me like we are going to -dare I say it?- Fulfill our POTENTIAL...and all "become doers, not just viewers"...
*waits for the collective groan*
