Fotada and Pixi have each answered one half of the BSG/Buffyverse question correctly! Ding, ding, ding! Everyone's a winner! Still one half of the question is left to some research-happy soul who finds it. ;D Did someone mention research...? Anyway. When Jane was pitching her stories to ST: TNG way back when, she sat across the table from a young writer named Ronald D. Moore. Moore was one of the guys behind the recreation of BSG, and is currently both an executive producer and writer for the series. So it's little wonder that the upcoming season of BSG will feature at least one script by the inimitable Ms. Espenson. Woo Hoo! We have another WINNER!!!

Spacing out? Here's something to send you into orbit: What is the color of the fire from the weapons of this BSGverse ship? What is the color of the fire from the weapons of this BSGverse ship? Ok, since I've no takers here are the answers: Cylon Raider fire is white while Viper fire is red.

Hint #1: She starred in a movie that he directed. Hint #2: I can answer 3 of those! 1. Jonathan Taylor Thomas as Ben and Zachery Ty Bryan as Cas Truman. 2. #woot2# This one's easy: Michael Cera as Dean and Alia Shawkat as Stacy Wells. 3. Alyson Hannigan as Trina and Charisma Carpenter as Kendall. Bonus: Aside from Joss, who wasn't a cast member...I don't know. I know Andy Hallett was supposed to be in an episode, but it was scrapped for budgetary concerns...

You rock! I didn't know that Andy Hallett was supposed to be on the show! That's an interesting tidbit! I did mean Joss for the bonus question, so you got that one correct as wel!! I didn't word that very well, but I was afraid to give too much away. Actually, there were three other actors who appeared on both shows, but they aren't what I would call well-known, so I didn't ask about them. So, in addition to Joss: There was also Poophead Parker, who played Andre in S1 of VM's "The Girl Next Door." As well as Tara's father, who played journalist Lloyd Blankenship in a few VM episodes. And finally, Lydia the Watcher was nearly unrecognizable as a mobstress in VM's "Ruskie Business."

Desperate HousewivesYes, the wives are in the title, but what about the kids? What do you think about Julie, Andrew, Danielle, Zach, Porter, Parker, Penny, etc.? So thoughts about the children (I haven't seen all of season 1 yet, so I may be missing something): Julie Mayer-my dad refers to her as "the only sane one on this show" and I'm forced to agree with him. Zach Young- seriously screwed up and took a dark turn in the season finale. What's he going to do now that he's an heir to millions (?) and one of his dads is rotting away in prison and the other one is seriously injured (?) Penny Scavo (the baby) Parker Scavo (the middle child) Preston Scavo (twin) Porter Scavo (twin) Hmm...they seemed remarkably undisciplined to me. There's some hope for Penny though. Danielle Van De Kamp- a slut and a brat? Not sure I really know her character Andrew Van De Kamp-psycho and twisted, but I really feel for him, (from my own personal experience, ymmv) growing up with Bree for a mother, who's more concerned with who she thinks he should be than who she actually is. And now Bree sent him off. What's going to happen to him now? Will we ever see him again, or has he been written off the show? Other kids on Wisteria Lane: John the Gardner Mattew of the Applewrights The Scavos playdates (the ones with the parents who liked to film home movies) ?? Since they all live on the same street and Bree, Lynette, Susan, and Mary Alice are/were friends you'd think that the kids would have relationships amongst themselves. *Julie and Zach have interacted some throughout the series *Julie went to Danielle's birthday party, but they don't seem to really know each other or like each other *We never see any of the older kids babysit for the Scavos, though they are quite a handful, so perhaps that's not surprising. *?? And what kind of effect will all the murders and such have on these kids as they are growing up?

Desperate Housewives-Topic of Interest
Bree-Andrew relationship: Interesting to me because Bree is like a tragi-comic exaggeration of my own mother, but Andrew reacts by doing things that are morally questionable at the very least. At least that's my interpretation. I'm curious about how other people think. Also, Marc Cherry has said that Bree is modeled after his own mother, so I'm guessing that Andrew is modeled after himself. How much I wonder because Andrew can be very cruel and twisted, surely MC doesn't see himself like that.

Veronica Mars- Topic of Interest
Understanding Cassidy: So he turns out to be a molested, psychotic mass murderer. Who knew? Who got taken by surprise? Looking back how can we better understand his character's personality and action in light of this revelation?

Smallville-Topic of Interest
Lionel-Lex relationship: I maintain that despite everything Lionel has done to Lex, he truly does love his son. Lex cannot see that, and who could blame him? Lex's conflict with his father plays a large part in the dark path he is going down. I'm curious as to other people's opinions on their relationship

Gilmore GirlsDish the dirt, go ahead! What did you think about the season finale? I'm reserving opinion until we see the fallout in season 6. "New Year's Prayer" by Jeff Buckley.

Veronica Mars- Topic of InterestUnderstanding Cassidy: So he turns out to be a molested, psychotic mass murderer. Who knew? Who got taken by surprise? Looking back how can we better understand his character's personality and action in light of this revelation? I was definitely surprised by Cassidy as someone who deliberately mass-murdered his classmates, but in the end, I bought it all the way. They set it up very well - with not just the molestation, but with his relationship with his parents, Kendall and Dick. -That his initial reaction to the molestation would be terrible shame and a desperate desire to hide it (and to feel it is his fault, his shame, something he has to hide about himself) is a classic reaction.
-Unlike the other boys, he's not able to break away from that reaction, because he totally lacks familial support, and in fact, their treatment of him -as inadequately male, as inadequate generally, as unimportant and not worthy of love and attention - reinforces his feelings of shame and guilt and desperation to hide his "terrible secret." I also think he's generally, just naturally, a more quiet and reserved personality. And he's so young and unsure of himself. It all works together.
-To Cassidy, what the other boys are planning to do isn't "outing Woody" - its outing Cassidy. It's murdering Cassidy. I think that he reacts to it as one would react to a threat to one's life. It feels like that to him, to his . . . underlying, but dominant persona. Peter and Marcos are planning to destroy him, as surely as if they had a gun to his head.
-That disturbed persona, born from the molestation and familial neglect, is ruthless and feels totally justified in doing whatever "it" has to do to survive. That Cassidy ultimately kills himself, when it becomes clear that he cannot keep his secret from coming out - speaks to how desperate that "persona" was to retain control, and how much control it had - how dominant it was, inside Cassidy. Not only was it willing to kill everyone on the bus, it was willing to kill "all of Cassidy" - and it did.Maybe we've all experienced seeing something like this (in a more modest way) "coming out" of a person. The sudden transformation can be really marked and complete and amazing. It's what I saw, when Cassidy saw that note from Veronica on Mac's cell phone - that snarl that appeared on his face, that sudden manifestation, that immediate real world appearance, of what was always lurking beneath the mask. Kyle Gallenas did a wonderful job, and I thought the whole thing was resolved beautifully.
