I didn't like it. Too much.. too fast. No closure. They could have cut 3 episdoes that did nothing this year and gave us a two part finale or a 2 hour episode... but no, they tried to cram it into 42 minutes and failed in my opinion. It didn't suck... but it wasn't good. Was I moved? Sure. How could I not have been. I have emotionally invested myself into these characters for 7 years. When they hurt I hurt. When they are happy it makes me happy. What the hell was that at the end? Jesus... Spike just died. Anya jsut died. Some of hte SITs died. What was with all the smiling? We won? Woo hoo. I am peeved with Xander. Anya meant more than that to him and he didn't show it. I bet my expression showed more heartache than nearly any of them. I am not impressed..I must think about this more but I do agree with some about being robbed of the tragedy of Spike's death. He's gonna be back next fall...and probably in a whole new friggin persona. He won't be Spike at all.. I jsut bet ya. He'll be "Saint William with a dark tendency" No...not happy here folks. Not happy at all. Vlad

I'm still choked up about the episode and most of you have already covered how I feel about it. However... as if Angel needed a reason to distrust Lilah and the offer he has accepted from Wolfram & Hart, the end result of wearing the amulet should certainly remove all doubt. I am sure our good old "lawyer" friends knew what would happen if Angel had worn the amulet. Despite the fact that it closed the hellmouth (though they certainly don't seem to need it to wreck havoc), I'm sure they were hoping he'd do some combusting of his own. Oh, and do you think... If we build a mall on top of the ruins of old Sunnydale, will they all come back? *sniff*

Miss Pamela said: I SO want to see Spike have a GOOD LOVE INTEREST (or at least a good snog 'n shag interest) on "Angel" next Fall! Well, there's always Harmony.... (Running, hiding, being pelted by shoes, drowning in shoes....)

I must say I was miffed that, as usual, my local station shoved the credits into an itty bitty corner of the screen and talked over the Grrr Argh guy. From the little bit I was able to see, he looked adorable. (He was different this time wasn't he? 'cause if he wasn't, you can colour me red in the face.)

There were two questions that never really got answered, or if they did, they were never really answered clearly. The Beljoxa's Eye question was one -- what exactly was it that Buffy did, or had done to her, that created the imbalance in the slayer line. That one we've already covered. And although in the end, the question wasn't so important when it came down to the final battle, so much was made of it early on that it's sort of odd that it was just dropped there at the end. The other was Joyce's prophecy to Dawn, that in the end, Buffy won't choose Dawn. Perhaps that was Buffy's choice to send Dawn away, or that when she passed on the power, Dawn wasn't one to get it -- not a potential after all. But it was never clearly answered. It would have been nice if Dawn had a moment where she suddenly lit up and said, "I'll bet this is what Mom meant."

Buffy's little quip at the end "he had to split" or something of course reminded me of Ahhnohld... but she also could have told him to "Half a nice day!"

Yeah, this time he looked like a Turok-Han. Also (not to you) cheesy CGI on the mobs of attacking Turok-Han...

//Yeah, Daveid, but it didn't say the vampireS with soulS, it said THE VAMPIRE WITH A SOUL. I think that qualifies as only one vampire. Of course I could be wrong, but... //I may be wrong, too, but there was always something in Wes' wording that struck me as not definitively one vampire only would ever be able to shanshu, but more like, every vampire with a soul who fulfills his destiny will get his reward -- becoming human. Although, Spike didn't know about the shanshu prophecy. It might be interesting to see him shanshu, and then be pissed about it -- that perhaps he felt being a vampire with a soul was sort of like the best of both worlds, and now he's lost it and doesn't want to go back (become a vampire again, because he'd lose his soul and be worried his evil self might not want to go through the trials a second time to re-earn it).

I'm trying to figure out how to explain why you don't necessarily have to have plurals to mean more than one. And I'm an English teacher. Help!

I guess I'm the only person here disappointed. I was left with an empty feeling to what I thought was an anti-climactic ending. The First is now, in my book, the weakest of the Big Bads. And while I like David's observation of how Caleb died, this, too was a disappointment in its quickness. And while I understand the non-closure issues, this isn't real life, this is a television show, and I would have enjoyed something a little more, well, closed. I think The Gift was the best series ender they could have created, and maybe I expected too much, or maybe I'm not getting it, but this was no "All Good Things..." Has this just been a season ender, I would have been okay, but as a series ender....The only thing I can say is I'm pissed we know Spike will be on Angel. Imagine we didn't, we would have all thought he died, and if they could have kept it secret all summer (I know, a little impossible in the internet age), it would have been a great surprise to see him again. Well, off to put the baby to sleep! James Gaskins

//(He was different this time wasn't he? 'cause if he wasn't, you can colour me red in the face.)// He was different, but only slightly so. He growled the same, only thing that was different was he actually looked at the camera as he passed. I felt short changed -- I need a hug was more powerful than just looking at the camera.

"Miss Pamela said: 'I SO want to see Spike have a GOOD LOVE INTEREST (or at least a good snog 'n shag interest) on "Angel" next Fall!'" Nan said: Well, there's always Harmony.... (Running, hiding, being pelted by shoes, drowning in shoes....)" Oh, dear me...You know the look Giles had on his face in "Something Blue" when he first saw Spike and Buffy kissing? That's my sentiments exactly (plus I'd be furiously cleaning my glasses if I knew where they were)! ;-)
