So, they were all declared dead just 'cuz they couldn't salvage anything from the plane? Ooooh, ghost chaser guy! Ghost buster! A real ghost sensing guy, but one that steals the money. Hmmmmm. Oh, Matthew! So clever! It was code! And he wants to go to her body so he can read what happened using his spooky ghost reading power thing. Sawyer is right, Benry's just messing with your head. But I'd still like to see Karl smack him around. If we can't see Rousseau do it, someone has to. Yoda thinks James is brave and daring and handsome. It's practically a proposal. Aaaaaand here comes the smack down. And I tend to think Sawyer is more right than Locke on this one. About Benry already having a plan to get them all as opposed to being helpless and all. Is it just me, or is there something not quite all there about Dan? Jack wink! What's the plan, Jack the man? Sayid!! Woot!! Oh, Jack, I'm loving you here. ;D "I dunno? How stupid are you?" I think I kinda like this twist of the Losties being the jades old timers messing with the newbie island visitors.

Polar bear!!! Yay!!! OMGWTFBBQPOLARBEAR! With a Dharma collar! So, are these a bunch of free-lance Dharma seekers or something? Folks who've been hunting for this special island or someting? Heh! Someone could have told me the calvery was here. I gave you that, like, wink. ;D And Sayid gets right to business. Mmmmmmm. Is it wrong that I find that hot? Dan. Miles. Heh. Miles is a snarky guy, isn't he? Now with the Locke team we have it in the other direction. Hugo is the one letting info go. Suspicion all 'round though. "I had to jump . . . I'm lucky to be alive" is probably not gonna be that impressive to this bunch. Heeeeee!! Vincent!! Two sightings in one ep! Me so happy.

So, are these folks being mesmerized by the crash? Like the guy in Close Encounters? Or just they all have a connection to it somehow? Maybe they were all "supposed to be on it? Bull!! It's an Other Cattle! Heh! I like this "what's wrong with you people?" "Who are we to argue with taller ghost Walt?" See, this is why I love Sawyer with all my heart. ;D Benry!!! WTF, dude!! Kill him Sawyer. Really. I'm ready for him to be dead now. Oooooh. Bullet proof vest. Well. Not as innocent as you seem, perhaps? Oh my that is pretty. A helicopter. I love the looks on their faces. So . . . quietly happy and avaricious and . . . . And like they're just going, "oh hell yeah" inside.

Fourth parachutist.. Captain Greg! How.. is his body.. what? He was in a tree!!!! I'm telling you, dude. They're there and not there. They're here and not here. Or else it's a big old Oceanic conspiracy. Or, like, both. Such a good line! And then the change right from that to vicious Benry attacker? I can't decide who I love best in this ep, Sawyer or Sayid or Jack or Kate. ;D Somehow I'm thinking . . . Jack? Maybe Sayid?

Forming the team. Aha!! Fake (or maybe not) Oceanic guy and Naomi. "There were no survivors of Oceanic 815. Don't ask questions, just do what you were hired for." Oooh, tough guy! And the team was "selected for a specific purpose", eh? So they each have some kind of powers or skills something? Perhaps powers that the group that sent them thinks can help them succeed on the Mysterious Island of Wackiness? Naomi was just supposed to get them on the island without being killed. Well, she got all of them there except herself, so . . .. Juliette Burke. You weren't on that plane, were you? We're here for Benjamin Linus. Hot damn!! Oh, wow. Benry is Locke's mess to clean up. But, will he kill him? Or . . .? I have answers. Oh, yeah now you start babbling. So, is this more of Benry's freaky knowing about everyone thing, or. . . .? And of course the DVR cuts off now. And I even set it for "longer". Well, I'm grabbing Eli Stone afterward, so perhaps I cans still get a bit of the end of the scene. Yes!!! They want me. Because I have a man on their boat. Of course you do. All powerful Benry has men everywhere.

I do not like it so much that we are getting another batch o' new characters. At this point, I'm ready for anything. More characters? Why not! Mimes creating balloon animals while juggling polar bears? Why not! Giant Walt breeding a whole new island population of mutant dog wrangers? Why not! Bring it on, baby! Ghosts! Scientists! Perky swimmers!

Guess: Man on their boat = Michael. Oh, that would be a really cool idea! And it would mean that Giant Ghost Walt was . . . warning them about his dad? Or trying to help his dad? Or . . .

I do not like it so much that we are getting another batch o' new characters. Nor do I.
I understand that these two eps have been front-loaded with new info, and I understand the reasons why, but I can't say that I like it much, yet.
And am I the only one who thinks that the photograph of the "murdered grandson" on the wall during Miles' flashback was really a photo of J. August Richards?

So, did anyone notice that the full name of our new female character is Charlotte Staples Lewis? In other words, the exact same initials (and middle name, actually) as C. S. Lewis.

LauraI just saw some screencaps of those photos, and I can say with certainty it's not JAR. Sorry.

Oooooh, another author!! Nice continuity. Now, will that name connection have a correlation to the kind of person she is, I wonder.

Jeff "Doc" Jensen over at EW has, in his review of this ep, pointed out that our four new characters share more than a few similarities with another famous quartet: the Fantastic Four. To summarize: Daniel Faraday=Mr. Fantastic/Reed Richards: Both are scientists with less-than stellar social skills, and one could say Daniel has a fairly flexible view of himself and the truth. As for Daniel's name itself, Michael Faraday was a pioneer in the field of electricity and electro-magnetics, while Daniel of course was the prophet who bearded a lion in its den and interpreted dreams. Miles Strom=The Human Torch/Johnny Storm: Same snarky manner, same fiery wit, and Strom is an anagram of Storm—which is the Torch's real last name. Matthew told me last night "Miles" means "warrior," and the two names together sound an awful lot like the word "maelstrom." Charlotte Staples Lewis=Invisible Woman/Sue Storm: Both ladies exhibited the means to protect themselves via something no one else could see. Jeff speculates that if the analogy is accurate, then perhaps Charlotte is hiding something else about herself right in plain sight (a few fans wonder if she's related to Ben's childhood friend Annie). Frank Lapidus=The Thing/Ben Grimm: Lapidus is a form of granite, and of course the Thing was covered entirely in stone. Plus Ben Grimm was the pilot on the space mission that gave the FF their abilities. Oh, and the number that appeared on his t.v. (888-548-0034) apparently works if anyone's interested in trying. For now, Jensen's dubbed them "the Freighter Four." Oh, and our castaways are divided between the Jack Pack and the Locke Lot. FAIR WARNING: If you click on the link to read the whole piece, be warned there is a casting spoiler towards the end. So if you've remained completely in the dark and want to stay there, best to either not click or stop reading after the entry on Lapidus.

Teaser They're going to find the plane wreckage? Yep. So this is a flashback? Jeremy Davies is a wreck. Because he knew some one on the plane? Yep, OK. So a few minutes before the end of the last episode. Daniel Faraday. Because we don't have enough allusions to famous historical figures. *makes note to look up Faraday after watching the episode.* I'm here to rescue you. Aren't you a little short for a Storm Trooper?
