Wow.
I liked that! It was lively and funny; especially The Doctor and Donna mirroring each other during the first 20 minutes. The adipose creatures were a bit twee, but also kind of penguin-y, which I liked despite myself.
And Oh. My. God. Rose! The Ghost of Rose! Now that is intriguing as hell...and she looked so sad...

I'm not sold on it yet. There's stuff I liked. But it was funny. and then it was funny some more. There were bits of scary too though. I don't know if the balance was off or if I'm just still so much in Torchwood land I'm not quite caught up.
I like what he had to say about Martha, though if he said some of it *to* Martha that would be nice too. I like that bit where he started talking and then there was no one there. Cause he's lonely and off balance that way. Er, not that I like him being lonely, I liked the illustration of it.
I like that Donna isn't a typical character for the genre. I like that she's older, rethinking her life, choosing this stuff on purpose, went alien hunting to find the Doctor. I, erm, kind of want to *thwap* the Doctor though cause Jack tried the same tactic for more than a century so either Donna is very lucky or the Doctor ran away from Jack more times than we knew. Probably meant to be luck though.
I kind of liked the bit at the start where they kept missing each other.
I liked Donna's grandfather and his telescope.
I like that she's thought it through and packed.
I am very greatly relieved that she doesn't fancy him. I mean, I do, but to make it so only people who fancy him get to travel is somewhat of a problem on many levels.
The bit with Rose is interesting setup, but I was quite happy when she fell, and rather *facepalm* at everything after that, so I ain't best pleased with the idea of her back.

I totally understand that, and agree that it was an amazing ending to her arc. I think I would have been more upset if she had been solid, which would then undermine a lot of the pathos and mythology set up by how her story ended. The fact that she isn't intrigues me, and makes me wonder what's going on. It's almost like she's being pulled somehow, or controlled, called into half-life by something. Which would fit in well with Astrid's fate in "Voyage of the Damned."

They remixed the theme song? Magical weight loss pills. Great. Are Donna and the Doctor working together or are they just coincidentally investigating the same thing? OK, they're doing the wacky, keep missing each other thing. They've not met up again, yet. Ah, going for gross out humor then. OK, that little fat goblet is actually kind of cute! The Doctor's got his own water fat divining stick. And then she dissolves into fat goblets! BWAH! That was hysterical. Donna soul searching with her grandpa. Nice scene. Another investigator. Hee. Oh, so the CEO chick is an alien too. Are they going to be selling these goblet creatures as stuffed animals now? And the Doctor and Donna catch each other spying. Hee! Yeah, Donna was investigating trouble hoping to find the doctor. Poor chick who was actually doing some investigation like a normal person. She gets completely ignored. Wait, is CEO chick one of the farting aliens? Ah, the Doctor doing the giving the bad guy one last chance again. Aw, grandpa misses the space ship... About Martha. Donna packed just in case. Way to be proactive, girl! So Donna is most certainly not into the Doctor. That's refreshing, but I hope that that's not a set up for some unexpected romance. Aw, showing Grandpa the TARDIS. So sweet.

Agreement all round.
Liked the ep. (I'm never as fond of the crazy frenetic running around constantly almost dying screaming, running, blowing things up, last minute resolution type eps (like the Voyage of the Damned from last week.)
This one had a bit more humor, more dialogue, more characterization, more introspection, off the beaten track aliens---and the actual alien babies weren't, of their own accord, actually trying to hurt anyone.
Good ep.
With a nice little hook at the very end.
Wasn't a fan of Donna's when she first appeared (thought she was a little screechy and whiney) but it's possible she'll grow on me. And, it is nice to "mix it up" with traveling companion types, I suppose. The exchange about wanting a "mate" was funny.
[And, I'm pretty sure their are any number of folk who would be happy to sell their fat and lease out their bodies to create little fat babies while they sleep even if the process were entirely explained and even demonstrated. Obviously with medical and legal oversight, of course. Very clever concept.

i enjoyed this episode too. like sue, i wasn't a big fan of donna in the christmas special, finding her rather too whiny and so on, so i was kind of nervous when i heard she'd be back during this season, but i thought her character had been nicely tempered in this episode, as in that the time to think and do and so on had changed her and made her both more introspective and savvy than she used to be. i thought the episode's concept was clever (and also a neat twist that it turned out to be the charms on the necklaces, not the pills themselves, so that even stopping the pills wouldn't make a difference, like with the guy the doctor suggested stop them) and i found donna's grandfather a sweet character - an interesting counterpoint to the family members we've typically seen in the first few seasons of the new who - whom i ended up hoping we'd see again this season. that donna had packed a hat box (and that the doctor decried it and that they did a flyby of the grandfather in the tardis at the end of the episode were both cute and funny as well. like rachael, i thought the ghostly!rose looked determined, not sad. i wondered if somehow she'd managed to project herself into "our" reality like the doctor had done in reverse to talk to her, or what else might be going on... the fade-out while she was walking was also really visually cool.

The shrill was a bit hard to take, I'll admit, although not surprising given the situation of the character in that episode. Huh. I guess it could be read either way; I did think she looked sad. Maybe sadly determined?

Is the theme song a bit jazzed up? Woo hoo! Donna! I like her. Heh! Both of them pretending to be from health and safety. Um. Fat just walks away. Is that gonna turn out to be, like, literal? "Health and safefy. . . Film department." Cute bit with the alternate bobbing up from cubes and missing each other. Well. Sounds like a fun place to work. Heee! You be health, I'll be safety. Count me in too! Ten minutes past one, the alarm goes off, and the fat goes away magically at night? And you're not finding that suspicious? Oy! Eeeep! Something trying to get out? Ah. That's the fat going bye bye. That is actually seriously cute. Heee! They're waving!! Whoa!! Holy moly! She's all gone? All! Heh! Once again they just don't quite meet.

Nice montage of her mom ragging on her and her just sitting. Her Grampa - ah, watching the stars, talking about us going to the stars. Nice. Heh! She wants him watching for a blue box. Heee! Her mom's little blue car. His little blue box. And they're both back at the Adipose place again, still missing each other. I can't help thinking it would have been easier to wait until at least lunch time, folks coming back from lunch, instead of having to sit in the rest room from 9:00 in the morning. Eeeep! They've got her! Aha!! I knew they were being cagey about not showing us who they thought "she" was! So, is she an employee who's figured out something is wrong, or is she undercover for some agency or something?

A reporter! Love a good villain telling someone all about her plan. Foster mom, eh? TAnd it didn't really like being picked up, but other that that it too is all smiley and wavey, unlike sinister sounding foster mommy. So what's she going to do with all the little adiposes? Are they trying to take over the Earth or something? Like Cute Overlords or something? Heeeeee!! Love the moment when they spot each other!! ;D Donna? Doctor? O.M.G!! And the "it's me" and he's all "duh, I can see that" etc. All in silence. ;D And then it goes into extra fancy mime and they get caught, of course. "We interrupting you?" Heeeeeeee! Heh! Same suit "don't you ever change?" Believes it all, except the ship from the Christmas show. Heh! Eeep!! Adventure, running, falling! Grab her zapper and scary escape! Heee! Last minute letting the reporter go. And then, whoopsie, back again, eh? Nursery fleet? Outerspace Super Nanny. Warning her that seeding a "level 5 planet" is against the law. What happens when you hold two sonic devices next to each other? Let's see!

Reporter woman stayed too long to snoop. Nice parallel to the Doctor and Donna escaping and then getting caught again and then escaping again, etc. Now it's a race between the Doctor and Supernanny as to who can get their Inducer plan going first, eh? I have empathy for Donna. To have all that alien excitement and learn about this huge new galaxy of adventure and then, yeah. Hard to find that just being touristy on Earth. It would all seem a bit flat. [sidebar]Then again, when the excitement is all dangerous all the time, I think I'm cowardly enough that I'd choose just doing a bit of touristy stuff on my own planet. ;D [/sidebar] He looks a bit taken aback by her inviting herself along again. Heh! But that's why I like Donna, she just rolls right over the Doctor. Oh, they're turning all the people into a bunch of babies right now. Eeep! Oh! The poor little Adiposes mushed by the car! Um. I mean, eep for the people too, if they all get vanished away at once instead of just a bit at a time. Heh! Donna all calm and "tell me what do you need" as he's doing his patented Doctor!babble. Still managed to have 10,000 of them get born and now she's gonna run off, eh? I'm thinking the Doctor will have something to say about that. Heh! Grampa misses the ship entirely. ;D And the cute little Adiposes wave bye bye. Well. She's awfully Evita-esque, isn't she? What are the instructions from home, then, if they're not in trouble but she is?
