I don't know ANYBODY who liked the Bones finale. And I was predisposed to like it because of Zach. Actually, he was one of the many things I didn't like about it. It just felt like an excuse to have ALL of the actors in one story plot. Blech.

So, which finale did you hate the most? Last year or this year?
Here is some irony: FOX just announced they've renewed BONES for 2 more years. I guess the pretty counts for something.

Actually, I didn't hate it. I enjoyed it...all but the last 30 seconds.
LAST season's finale, I hated.

Last year's, I only had two major quibbles with the episode: the fake out in the beginning with Booth's non-death having to do with some case we'd never heard of before, and Zach being the apprentice. The rest of it was actually pretty good. This year... I don't even know where to begin. I feel like the show doesn't know what it wants to be about. Or maybe I thought I knew what this show was supposed to be about and after watching the finale I have no clue at all anymore.

Yeah, but that's not a quibble; that's a major defect in plotting and characterization. I nearly stopped watching Bones after last season's finale. I'm glad I didn't; I felt that this season got off to a rocky start, but that they found the characters again midway, and the writing improved as a result. The characters changed in ways that made sense to me, were predictable from previous behavior. And the season finale was just fun. Bones isn't the first show to to an AU episode, and won't be the last - I usually really enjoy them. I think the "amnesia" thing is a cheap way to get half a season more out of not resolving the sexual tension, though. If that's where it's heading.

I'm not sure which finale I hated more. I think it would be better if they just picked one of the darn books and used THAT as their guide for a season.
I could actually buy Zach as the Gormagon's apprentice but this one just seemed like a way to avoid the whole "Bones wants Seely's baby" issue. Boooring!

I need to say that the first two episodes of house this year are substantially better than any of last years episodes.
Julia, although I understandwhy people might have gotten fed up with it.

If they want to involve the two main characters with each other they REALLY, really need to use the books for a template in how to do it well and avoid jumping the shark.

I'm sure you meant Bones and I agree, at least about ep one. Will watch ep. two today. I have to say that the twist of Booth feeling that he loves Bones but being told that it might just be part of his brain injury is different. It accomplishes the same thing (keep them apart a while longer) but in a fairly unique way. Plus, it allows the other characters to recognize the attraction and comment on it -- warning Booth not to hurt her. So he doubts his feelings in a fairly atypical way.

I haven't read the books, but I do think that if done right (and, no, I don't have a whole lot of faith in these particular writers) Booth and Brennan could get together without sinking the show. Seems to me that those two have the potential for a real Nick and Nora type relationship.

I'm still feeling like there's too much emphasis on the MotW and not enough on the team. I did like the stuff with Wendell. Sweet has settled in for me as a great way to explore B&B's characters.
