Dad's free now, finally. I've been alternately imagining a big grey wolf loping through the forest, or maybe a bear if they're made grey anywhere. Perhaps a wolf, as Mom has said she wants to howl like one for him. I asked her if she wanted my sister and me to leave so she could do it alone at some point, but she said no, as she's got a lot of alone time coming up when we go home. We are going to have a meal with Chris and Darcy in a little bit, to honor him. I hope they're not making artichoke lasagna. Peace and love to everyone. This is Mom and Dad right after they got married. Your resemblence to your Mom is startling, but I see some of your Dad too. Please accept my deepest condolences and gratitude that your father's ordeal is over. Please give my phone number to your Mom. I'm aware that she doesn't know me, but that can be helpful when you want to talk without feeling judged or that you might be upsetting someone. I do love your imagry. I like the image of the wolf. I have an acquaintance who is something of a medium. When she heard Ian was gone she began looking for him. After a few miniutes she opened her eyes and said "I see him with two other men. There is water nearby. He is happy. His message to you is, 'I'm free!'" Shan, my sincerest condolences. And terrific picture. It sounds like you are doing well.

Exam was canceled today because of the snow, so I have one more day to study at least. Yay. I constantly picture you whenever I'm watching Grey's Anatomy. I can't help it. ;D

Exam was canceled today because of the snow, so I have one more day to study at least. Yay. Yay. School officials here are so relieved that it was already a holiday. Maybe an inch. But it rained first and then when the temp dropped 15 degrees the wet froze under the snow. So it's a thin coating of ice covered with a bit more than a dusting of snow. Really quite treacherous to drive on. Jim didn't park his car down at the bottom of the driveway so he's probably working from home (I heard him on the phone with his assistant -- apparently no meetings and lots of computer/dictation work so actually easier to do at home with no interruptions) at least until we broom or scrape the snow off and the "sun" melts the ice. Very well may have our 7th snow day tomorrow. Which sounds impressive but if you are going to miss 7 days of school you should at least get a big dump like 8 or 10 inches! [Not complaining, this is the "snowiest" winter we've had in ages but it would be fun to pile 6 snowfalls of 2 inches up into one of 12 inches--- just call me Monnie.) ;D We got a little less than an inch of snow, but we're in the same boat as you--the roads are icy and impassable. I'm home now, and wondering if I'll have to go into work at all. The sun is out right now, but our temps aren't expected to reach freezing today, and cloud cover is supposed to return this afternoon with the possibility of more snow. I hate not knowing when and if I'll have to go in today. We were predicted to get up to 4 or 5 inches of snow--that would have made it not question of whether or not I had to go into work. We still have yet to get any kind of decent snow this season, while everyone around us has had at least 1 decent snow. Not fair, but I'm at the point now where I say if you're not gonna give me what I want, then by god, let spring be on its way.

I hope everyone had a nice V-Day. I spent part of it at a dance workshop and then pretty much wrote the rest of the day. This time of my life when I'm cranking out three scripts in a few weeks is always a little insane. Couple that with all the extra stuff and I'm feeling a little overwhelmed lately.
I really, really need a vacation that doesn't involve dance.
Sigh.
But hey - happy Monday to everyone. I'm sure I will perk up when I find a minute to breathe. Plus Vday sucks when you're alone.

Oh, I can totally see that!! Exactly!! I always thought that about my mom when I was a kid, that she looked like Faye Dunaway. But I never thought about him looking like Donald Sutherland. I don't think I knew who that was at the time. ;D Everybody's been napping today. It's a good thing. Catching up on missed sleep. We went to McDonald's for lunch today. She and my sister NEVER have McDonald's but Mom decided she wanted some really salty fries. It sounds a little morbid but it was an "in honor of" thing. She had Dad's last real meal for lunch: a bacon cheeseburger. Come on! It's what he wanted! And they were desperate to get him to eat something at the time. I hope he enjoyed it. I hope she did, too. One of Ian's last real meals before the radiation totally destroyed his ability to eat was a shrimp fest at Red Lobster. He was able to get several pieces down that actually tasted the way they ere supposed to. It's going to be very wierd for a while. You three are lucky to be together.

Good Morning. I need to haul my husband out of bed soon so he can go pick up stuff at the GHC pharmacy, because otherwise we're pretty much booked for the day getting various work-type things done here, notably finally putting the printer shelf up.
Perhaps it will cheer him if I mention he's only got three days of work thisweek, but I suspect he'll want to work Friday for the comp time, I dunno.
Julia, ergh

These are just fantastic. I am getting some of my dad's together to show, thinking about you all the while. There are SO many, it's hard to choose. Here's some to get started on.

Copying this over from my LJ and putting it under a cut: My fun evening, let me tell you it: So, overnight last night we got a dusting of snow. No biggie, even for us around here really, except for the fact that there was rain underneath that that then froze. So, the streets were bad this morning. I stayed home, then went into work around 1:30pm. The sun was out and had pretty much dried the roads up, even though the temps never got above freezing.
Then it started snowing again. While I was at work. And it just didn't stop. And the snow was melting on the roads, until it suddenly decided to stop melting, and then everything froze. While I was still at work. And no one thought to inform anyone who would be driving that this freezing was actually going on. None of the news stations, no police departments said or did anything. And then there was rush hour traffic.
It normally takes me about 40 minutes to get home, on a good day. Tonight, it took me almost 2 hours. The interstate that I drive on to get home? The second I got off the on ramp and onto the freeway, it was a SOLID SHEET OF ICE. I drove for almost 10 miles before I could get off on an exit that could take me a back way home. 10 MILES OF A SOLID SHEET OF ICE, NO ROAD SALT, NO SNOW CHAINS, SURROUNDED BY IDIOTIC SOUTHERN DRIVERS WHO HAVE NO FUCKING CLUE HOW TO DRIVE ON ICE, IN EVENING RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC ON AN INTERSTATE WITH 5 LANES, BUT AT THIS POINT IT WAS JUST ALL ONE BIG LANE BECAUSE WE COULDN'T SEE THE LANE DIVIDERS.
If I went over 25 miles an hour, I started swerving and sliding. It was mass pandemonium. People were crashing into the concrete median, sliding off into ditches, the opposite-bound side of the freeway was backed up bumper-to-bumper for miles, fire trucks and ambulances and cop cars all over the place because of all the wrecks, and still, AND STILL, I had fucking morons tail-gating me and passing me on both sides AT THE SAME FUCKING TIME. AND IDIOTS IN FRONT OF ME SLAMMING ON THEIR BRAKES WHEN THEY WERE ON BRIDGES, WTF, DO YOU WANT TO DIE? BECAUSE I CAN HELP YOU OUT WITH THAT, JSYFK.
I would have been fine with the driving on a SOLID SHEET OF ICE if I had been the only car on the road. It's all the other idiots that scare the bejeezus out of me.
Oh, and local news stations? I'm putting you on notice. Way to fucking warn the public when there is actually something for them to freak out over.
In conclusion: PEOPLE BAD, SNOW PRETTY.
