Anybody planning on watching "Parenthood" tonight? I'm recording it but it will have to make a pretty immediate impact to remain on the schedule. Already have too much that is "entertaining but not must see." Yes, ma'am. Lauren Graham has been pigeonholed as the single mom, hasn't she? Sorry to hear about Allison's friend.

I wish I could just fold up and take the day off, I really do; I should have done it yesterday, but by the time I got Franklin out of the house I was too pissed off to take a day of downtime.
Julia, I think the downside of getting my flu vaccines and so on is that I don't get to spend a week lounging around watching dvds and getting rested up for all the hard weeks of spring work.

*sigh*
Badness, in decreasing order of bad:
1) I nearly got myself killed driving to work this morning. Make a note: coffee before driving from now on. Sleep and driving do not mix.
2) Emily appears to have ANOTHER cold, smack on top of the one she was just getting over. She's back on nursing strike again.
3) Dave and I also have the newest cold, making three for me in three weeks.
4) I suspect she may also be teething, since that might explain the overnight personality change from adorable, smiley baby to whiny little twit.
Don't get me wrong; I love her unconditionally. But that doesn't mean I have to like everything she does, not even at five months old. Unfortunately, there's little to do except try and help her ride it out and have confidence that she'll go back to her sweet self eventually.

Since the wedding? I'm sure there probably has been, though I haven't seen any yet. Give it time, and it'll get noticed. If there's one thing I've learned about the SPN fandom, it's that there is no limit to the amount and absurdity and the intensity of the wank. I feel sorry for all the actors involved, but especially Genevieve. At least with Danneel, she eggs it on and fights back, which is kinda cool to watch--I would not want to get in a tussle with her, 'cause she seems pretty badass. ;D But Gen does her best to stay hidden and out of the limelight and does not interact with the fans (which is ridiculous that she has to do this, since she was actually on the show for a whole season--fandom should be opening their arms to her and welcoming her and treating her as part of the show's family), and yet she still gets shit on and harassed. But, then again, they knew going into this profession that if they're successful they'd get hit with stuff like this, so I can't feel too sorry for them. And plus, they're also all gorgeous and rich, so yeah, my sympathies have their limits. I think- and I might be wrong, but from the perspective of the wank communities it seems so- that there was a transfer of the tin-hattiest of tinhats from Lord of the Rings fandom, and especially from the RPS part of that fandom, right at the beginning of the SPN fandom, and that set the tone for the crazy-corner. It's hard to ignore SPN right now in the larger fandomsphere- until the Star Trek reboot it was the 800 pound gorilla, especially since SGA was cancelled and the chances for a movie went down in the flames of MGM's economic problems. Writers who bring attention to any show- Astolat, Hepcat, et'c- are playing there. Glee and Twilight seem to be attracting the really new and learning (AKA "awful") writers to the same degree, and Twilight has its moments of pure crazy, but SPN is the fandom is giving continued and persistant attention to the actors as objects of fantasy. Julia, it would be a fascinating subject for a book, but so far no author has appeared One will appear; not sure when, but it's in process. I'm betting they'll be an article or two in it about fandom.

Julia, Rachael, and and that you can break the cycle of viruses this time around. Arachne is at the shop. Mike is still pushing the $500 Elna of which he has a stack as being just the thing for me. He's probably right, but I'll keep that as a last resort if he can't fix my baby. I did promise him I'd buy a new machine there if at all possible. I trust him, I just would hate to have to spend the money right now, is all. Then I drove down to the Michael's on the Fullerton/Anaheim border, which actually had the thing I wanted and a couple other useful and/or ornamental items and got jasmine tea at Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf. After which, I decided that I didn't feel like stopping anywhere else. So I drove home, grabbed a canvas grocery bag from the back of the car and walked to Cost Plus and Ralphs. I am now going to drink my tea, which is just about the right temperature, and go until it's time to make lunch. S'cubies

So very sad. A very good friend of Allison's, currently a sophomore cinema major at USC was in a bad car accident last night out in CA. She was driving, passing a truck, lost control and hit another car head on. 3 of the 5 people in the other car had minor injuries. She is in the hospital with "major" but stable injuries but her boyfriend was killed. They all had their seatbelts on and there is no allegation of cellphones or texting or anything. I know the girl and would be pretty certain that under the circumstance of driving fast while passing would bet that she wasn't doing anything that she shouldn't have. But what a horrific accident and how terrible for both families. So young and sudden! Poor Allison. I'm very sorry for your sad news, Sue.

Attempting a change of thought. Well, I know antibiotics are of no use on a "simple" cold, but I clearly must have had something else going on that was treatable. 2 pills from my "Z-pac" and my symptoms are about 80% better. No wheezing. No coughing all night. Absolutely amazing. So glad I called the doc rather than continuing to "tough it out." The Cold-eze with Zinc always minimizes my cold symptoms, especially if I start taking it at first little tickle or inkling of body aches. But if you have a secondary infection, there is nothing like an antibiotic to bring it to its little knees. I'm glad you're feeling better. I've been lucky this year (knocks wood) and wasn't sick from a cold, but did have about a week of intermittent headaches that I think was caused by some virus or other. Some of the guys here had major headaches that kept them home - and they never call off work for sickness.

SNOW! Still had to come into work, dammit. But we had almost 3 inches at my house before I left. Why couldn't it be cold enough to stick on the streets? *pouts* Not fair, but I'm happy we got this one last gasp of winter before spring--I feel like this is Mother Nature's way of saying to me, "Here's one last day of snow. Now shut the fuck up and stop whining." ;D Temps may be in the 70's here this weekend. I'm kind of looking forward to it. I may even wash my car. That's the ONLY good thing about snow. Makes you really appreciate the balmy weather. *hugs* for the Daisy situation. It's never an easy thing to let a doggie go.

You guys have not mentioned that Jared P got married over the weekend? It never even crossed my mind to say anything. No one here besides myself and Pixi seem all that interested in the actors. I'm really happy for him and his new bride--they are sooo cute together, and seem really in love, from pictures I've seen. Ahem....I believe I (and Sara) were fawning all over both of the brothers long before you two jumped their bones. Although I must admit my fawning was much more understated and classy than you two horny women fangirls' squeeiness.

This seems to be just the garden variety of miz'ry, but I'd like to get rid of it ASAP. I've already done the Vitamin C & Zinc thing. Rest, drink more water, and eat chicken soup with lots of garlic. I take Oscillo at the first sign of a bad cold, too. Great immune booster. *hugs* feel better soon!
