I think I'm half in love with the show "community." Any show that's willing to have two naked men kiss in the middle of a crowded student union, and make it work fully has my attention. Also! Vampire!Abed!!!!! ;D I'm certain I am more than half in love.

Wow. How bizarre is it to hear the "Big Red" jingle being repurposed to sell cell phones instead of gum? Need something to decorate my post. Maybe a little parsley. Looks like Diane gave some sage advice on the caregiver topic. Now if someone would just come out with a Coronet line of cell phones, we could get a resurrected Rosemary Clooney crooning, "Extra value is what you get, when you buy Coronet!" Sorry I haven't been by of late. Seems like it's been a long thyme. Today's post brought to you via Scarborough Faire. **garnishes post with parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme** I'll take a Sharky post however I can get it.

Abed is the star of the show, imo. And did you see the bit at the end, where Abed was Bert and Troy was Ernie? Hysterical! It's my new favoirte show! So much fun! I know Modern Family is getting all the critical love this season, and I like it well enough, but my two new fave half-hour comedies (now that Better Off Ted was taken from us - the evil network bastards!) are Community and Cougar Town. ;D

Okay, this Oscar show has absolutely nothing resembling energy. It. Just. Drags.

Dear God, this is painful. /Oscars Whoever chose "Thank Heaven for Little Girls" for Zoe Saldana and Kerry Edwards needs a Sexist Asshat Award. Julia, erk.

Home again. My mom seems to have settled things between her caregivers. We brought home several boxes of miscellanea and the contents of a dresser drawer, consisting of rocks, shells, fossils, and two nifty little slabs of rock with fossil fish in them. The girls took what they wanted, I took what I wanted, the miscellanea will go to the Goodwill, the rocks, shells, etc to a teacher, if possible - they've got to be good for crafts, at the least. Bestest Buddy thinks she knows somebody. I found my mom's art supplies, which she's been looking for; she wants to take up watercolors again. The Husband and I (mostly me, because I'm shorter) also looked into boxes in the attic. It's really ghastly up there; my dad collected and/or hoarded a lot of stuff. Fortunately, one of their neighbors will happily take away the broken electronics, but cleaning out is going to be a very long process. My mom can't handle much of this at a time; she starts to get weepy, and I don't blame her. I swear, it's enough to make one give away all one's worldly goods and beome a hermit. I think I'd better go lie down for a while, until the urge to purge passes. Also, .9" of rain since yesterday, with some thunder this afternoon. Ah, sunny Southern California. Glad she sorted then out. I do understand your Mom. I wish I had had caregivers, even bad ones, those first few weeks were an absolute hell. If you want, I'd be glad to call and talk to her. It might help to talk to someone who has been through it. An acquaintence gave my number to her mother in the early weeks after. While she couldn't do much, it helped to talk to someone who had been through it.

"Unchained Melody" for Demi Moore: at long last, a musical cue that makes sense.

That bad? I can't stand to watch those award shows, no matter who is hosting, presenting, nominated, etc. I do like to watch the fashion reviews later, though. Dear sweet merciful Zeus, this show is boring beyond the telling of it. Seriously. I'm ashamed to say that The Husband, after dinner, rewound and is watching it from the beginning. NPH has now officially made my "I'd watch him/her read the phone book" list. The rest of the show, however... In my humble opinion, it'd be vastly improved if they gave the award winners more time to talk, and the presenters less. Much, much less. On the other hand, I got a fair amount done on the last quilt block, and now I'm going to attach it to the other two so I can decide what more embellishments are needed, before I start final assembly of the banner.

I wondered what James Taylor was doing on the red carpet. That was nice (Rememberances Clips to "In My Life")
Julia, singing a Beatles song, but it's one he's sung for yonks.

My mom's daytime caregiver was widowed about a year ago, and she's helped a lot. She's also been dragging my mom out and around, making her go out and talk to people and go shopping, and things like that, which has been good. I'm just glad that the Aged Ps had accepted the idea of part-time help by the time my dad got worse, so they had the service to call when my mom needed day and night care. If we'd had to go into this cold, it would've been even worse.

Interpretive dance to the nominated scores? SERIOUSLY?
This is all a parody of an awards show, isn't it? The real Oscars must be next week.
