Molly Ringwald seemed pretty spacey/uninvolved; Sean Penn -- what was he talking about?, and Kristin Stewart remains someone who just does not inspire me to want to watch her in anything -- an unfair evaluation since maybe once she is playing someone else she is quite good.
She just looks so sour, but maybe she is uncomfortable in which case I just feel sorry for her.

I think I'm half in love with the show "community." Any show that's willing to have two naked men kiss in the middle of a crowded student union, and make it work fully has my attention. Also! Vampire!Abed!!!!! ;D I'm certain I am more than half in love.

Glad she sorted then out. I do understand your Mom. I wish I had had caregivers, even bad ones, those first few weeks were an absolute hell. If you want, I'd be glad to call and talk to her. It might help to talk to someone who has been through it. An acquaintence gave my number to her mother in the early weeks after. While she couldn't do much, it helped to talk to someone who had been through it. Thanks, Diane. I appreciate your thoughtfulness. My mom's daytime caregiver was widowed about a year ago, and she's helped a lot. She's also been dragging my mom out and around, making her go out and talk to people and go shopping, and things like that, which has been good. I'm just glad that the Aged Ps had accepted the idea of part-time help by the time my dad got worse, so they had the service to call when my mom needed day and night care. If we'd had to go into this cold, it would've been even worse. However hard this has been, that at least if of the good. She is lucky to have you there to care. I know I would have been proud had you been my daughter.

Hmm, I thought Smurfahontas would do better last night. Glad to see Bigelow do well, & Sandra Bullock has been a favorite of mine through good films & bad. Only person ever to get the Oscar and the Razzy the same weekend... Julia, life in all its rich array

Only other comment -- that's James Cameron's wife he was sitting next to in the blue? I thought maybe his mother. She is way overly thin -- to the point of looking quite ill, IMO. I"m looking at the photo slideshow on Huffington. Miley Cyrus: I wanted to yell at her to stand up straight, but then she would clearly have popped out. That type of bodice annoys me for that reason: too often they don't seem to be fitted correctly and the woman has to stay slouched over because the bodice is too short for full coverage if you stand with your shoulders back. But I think Miley hunches a lot. Also, I knew Tina Fey was going to take some grief. And Mariah Carey. There weren't too many obvious horror stories. Just "I liked that one less (or more) than the other -- and much of that just personal preference. But Tina had just a bit of Jane of the Jungle going on. Carey Mulligan should go back to brunette. (What a cute like pixie she is, though -- love the cut.) Susy Amis, yes, in blue and no make-up and looking way too thin. TLo tweeted that Miley Cyrus was celebrating her 46th birthday... Horrible horrible look for someone who isn't old enough to vote. Julia, I was all red-carpet-live-blog-reading last night.

She just looks so sour, but maybe she is uncomfortable in which case I just feel sorry for her. Molly Ringwald has had some unfortunate work done- cheek and chin implants, maybe? The Fug girls have a better photo of KStew, smiling for the cameras; there were also audience shots of her and Taylor Lautner giggling and gossipping which were really cute. I tend to feel sorry for her- she had a nice little indy film career going, and like Robert Pattinson, had no idea what she was getting into when she was cast in Twilight. Julia, who ever knows what Sean Penn is on about; he always seems confused when he's not talking about himself

Home again. My mom seems to have settled things between her caregivers. We brought home several boxes of miscellanea and the contents of a dresser drawer, consisting of rocks, shells, fossils, and two nifty little slabs of rock with fossil fish in them. The girls took what they wanted, I took what I wanted, the miscellanea will go to the Goodwill, the rocks, shells, etc to a teacher, if possible - they've got to be good for crafts, at the least. Bestest Buddy thinks she knows somebody. I found my mom's art supplies, which she's been looking for; she wants to take up watercolors again. The Husband and I (mostly me, because I'm shorter) also looked into boxes in the attic. It's really ghastly up there; my dad collected and/or hoarded a lot of stuff. Fortunately, one of their neighbors will happily take away the broken electronics, but cleaning out is going to be a very long process. My mom can't handle much of this at a time; she starts to get weepy, and I don't blame her. I swear, it's enough to make one give away all one's worldly goods and beome a hermit. I think I'd better go lie down for a while, until the urge to purge passes. Also, .9" of rain since yesterday, with some thunder this afternoon. Ah, sunny Southern California. Good news about your mother's caregivers, Anne.

I know Modern Family is getting all the critical love this season, and I like it well enough, but my two new fave half-hour comedies (now that Better Off Ted was taken from us - the evil network bastards!) are Community and Cougar Town. ;D Modern Family has it's great moments. Cougar Town is damn funny, and surprisingly introspective, despite it's name. We really love The Middle, too. The family is soooooo quirky - even the house is in apple green and funky colors..and the addition of Chris Kattan as the co-worker friend has really pushed it up a notch. *yawning over the Oscars* Ooooooooo.... but there is Bradley Cooper and Gerard Butler giving out the visual effects award...... they both deserve a visual effect award.

Sandra Bullock: Best. Acceptance. Speech. Ever. Just watched it on YouTube. Made me tear up a bit. And also giggle at her calling Meryl Streep her lover. If someone can make you laugh and cry in the space of 4 minutes, that is a rare and good thing.

I can see we're having a case of "but if I'm on page 30 no one will know what I said! again.
I just finished betaing the long Sentinel story, and am off to see why the cows are having fits.
Julia, probably someone is mowing their lawn.
