Pillar at Sunset Image Credit & Copyright: David Alquist Explanation:[/b] Reddened light from the setting Sun illuminates the cloud banks hugging this snowy, rugged terrain. Inspiring a moment of quiet contemplation, the sunset scene included a remarkable pillar of light that seemed to connect the clouds in the sky with the mountains below. Known as a Sun pillar, the luminous column was produced by sunlight reflecting from flat, six-sided ice crystals formed high in the cold atmosphere and fluttering toward the ground. Last Monday, astronomers watched this Sun pillar slowly fade, as the twilight deepened and clearing, dark skies came to Mt. Jelm and the Wyoming Infrared Observatory.

Monnie: Thank you for the spacious new part! Love the ferret and the dog. ;D Spring: You are da design bomb! Sorry about your headache, Sara. Hey there, Erin! I'm not good with the calligraphy, Angelique. Diane might have some good suggestions. She's very artistic. Try to get some sleep, Be. Julia.

So freaking sleepy and I have no idea why. I was asleep before 10:00pm last night, and I overslept this morning, so it's not like I didn't get much sleep. Not enough hours in the day to get done everything I want to be doing. Pixi, how the frak do you do all that you do, day in and day out?!

Also I procrastinate till I have to do something and then that always seems to kickstart me. I overslept too. Hudson who as a senior doesn't have FCATS is off school today so he thought it would be great to pop in AFTER MIDNIGHT and pick up some stuff on his way to a friend's house. I hate being abruptly dragged out of sleep like that. Here - have some pixiperk.

G'morning all.
The good news: 9 years after Carolyn was a freshman, with all graduated and semi-temporarily "settled" my hindbrain seems to be aware that if the phone rings at 5:10 am it's not going to be a child in need, in that they are all currently in the same time zone as I am and no way is any one of them up at 5:10 am.
So, I didn't have any surge of adrenalin and panic, just as sense of annoyance that some wrong number was waking us up at 5:10 when Jim had to get up early anyway to catch a plane for 5 days of travel across several state.
The bad news is that is was American calling to say his flight was canceled. They want to put him on the next flight --- 4 hours later. He explained that that was unacceptable since he had a noon meeting in Chicago and asked her to check other carriers. Of course, by the time he was booked on United (only 30 minutes later) we were both wide awake.
Interestingly, one of his colleagues was also rebooked by an American agent onto the United flight whereas the 3rd colleague was told "I can't do that -- I can refund your ticket, but you have find your own 'other carrier' flight." She's a young woman and I guess didn't know enough to push back, but she did get on the same United flight, however since it was a last minute booking it was more expensive.
So, I've been up since 5:10, out to the airport and back, stopped by the mechanic's with the key to my van (which we parked there last night) and a list, starting with the brakes. Tom is borrowing the van next week to take 7 kids (okay, young adults) over to the Smokies for a long weekend). Nice to have working brakes.
Once I pick that car up, then Jim's Toyota goes into the dealer for 3 recall fixes.
Exciting life.

Thanks Spring! I hadn't even thought of emphasizing our first initials. I was trying go the more traditional route with the emphasis on our last initial. I think I managed to make something that works for both of us. As soon as we get the mock up finished I'll post it for the S'cubies to see. Yes, I know that traditionally, the middle is biggest, but I like the way the A & J compliment each other . . . it isn't traditional though, true. Oh, and I finally put that finishing touch on your dress design, so now you can start working on it: A masterpiece!! Angelique will look stunning in this couture design.

I procrastinate too, except instead of a mad rush of getting things done I usually end up just not doing what I'm procrastinating. Or just finishing it late with the attitude of, "Well, they should be grateful I did it at all." Ooooh, I get MAD when someone wakes me up like that. Like, punching mad. And with a lot of cursing, though that's really no different from my default mode. ;D *rubs pixiperk all over*

ooogh, food error I worked on my presentation for three hours, gave up, called powerpoint evil, decided I needed to eat, realised I hadn't ate yet today, took one more look at the presentation... worked on the presentation for an hour... actually remembered to get up and make food. made lots of food cause I didn't had any yet. sat down and ate while thinking about presentation. realised all the food was gone. realised that was actually more food than really fits. stopped thinking about essay. started thinking about sitting very still and not hiccuping. sleepy now. ... this is why my works no get done. I think most people manage 8 hours a day of actual Doing Things. on the plus side, I can definitely stand in front of the class and talk for ten minutes on what I poked today. on the not plus side, I'm increasingly unsure it makes any sense.

Also Sara - love the photos of the gravestones/snowdrops and your comment upon posting the photos of the flowers: After all, what better way to accompany photos of items synonymous with death than with the quintessential symbol of life beginning anew?Very nice. Nick bought a new kick-ass digital camera last week and we're hoping to get out to the park and snap some photos of the eagles before they all fly away for the summer. Scubies: Karen, thawing out. Thank you. I actually kept writing and rewriting that line until I got to the point where I said "Fuck it—my head hurts, so that'll have to be good enough for who it's for." So it's nice to know it ended up being okay.
