Good Monday morning, S'cubies.
We're having kind of a bleak, gray day today, but are supposed to have a sunny week otherwise, so I am looking forward to that.
Monnie and I are starting on a Raw Foods diet today, for at least two weeks.
Breakfast was a large peach and a handful of raw pecans and cashews. I have an orange for a snack, and a big salad with avocado and some vingarette type dressing for lunch.
I am not going to go 100% raw, so I'm having another large salad for dinner, but adding some seafood - and a piece of whole grain bread with not-raw goat cheese later, for an evening snack.
I was going for "at least 75% raw" and without really defining it all too closely or measuring anything, I thought that looked about right.

I've decided the problem with morning is that it comes way too fucking early.

This is really cool. Not practical where you have mountains of snow, but for the months when streets are clear, etc. it's pretty neat.

But the all-black look, tho cool, is not practical in a real world where you would want to be very visible. Yellow would be good. Or lime green. Even orange. And a flag.

75% raw would be about right, I'd say. I looked up the diet and to follow it very strictly would be difficult, if not impossible for me. But I like nuts and berries, fruit and stuff. Although totally raw veggies are hard on my system. And I'd miss rice and bread and cooked chicken. Would beer be considered 'raw', I wonder? Good luck! You guys are doing great. I've been stalled on my diet - happened when Nick was home full time for a couple of weeks. Now that he's traveling again, I'm getting back on track with the food-logging and Wiiing. Can't wait for golf!

You know, the only real bummer (for me) when the clocks jump ahead in the spring is that it's dark again now when I head off to work. ;D But, that means it won't be dark when I'm heading off home, so . . . Ah, well. Six of one, half a dozen of the other! So far, for us, the bummer is that the baby doesn't know from Daylight Savings Time. So she wanted to go to bed at 8:45 and get up at 7:00. The second isn't bad, but the first...not of the good. We compromised, and I put her to bed around 8:15. Tonight, I'm moving her bedtime back to the usual 7:45, DST be damned.

Wow, is this a record? I've been grocery-getting and am about to go stare at cows. How's your weekend going? Julia, mine is torturous when it comes to getting the blue-eyed ones out the door. Two huge church events coming up and I've been doing the paperwork, copying, writing agendas, etc, lists, and more lists, emailing. Going to be a busy few weeks: Allie comes home, Tom brings 6 kids here, big usher/greeting training luncheon at church, Allie goes back (something like 8 trips to airport over next 3 weeks), women's retreat weekend, and trying to squeeze in stuff like car appts, hair appts, and more house bids and work. Ergo -- less computer time. Oh, yeah, and lots and lots of basketball watching. Hey, Monnie -- I know you guys in AL only do football, no basketball, but did you pay any attention to the SEC Tournament. Miss St came within a couple of missed free throws of beating KY -- the number 1 first seed and then didn't get invited to the NCAA tournament based on their record from earlier in the season. But Florida did. (Methinks Billy Donovan has more friends on the selection committee than Rick Stansbury.) At least I don't feel so bad about VU losing to them. But the coach needs to schedule them with some harder teams -- they had a laughable RPI. I am just SO totally tickled that VU is a #4 seed to UT's #6 seed. (Since all year they have been ranked higher than us even though we beat them twice.) I watched the selection show and the UT team was pissed at their seed. Does anybody know or care what I am babbling about? S'okay. Each to her own obessions. No, I've never been a basketball fan, so I know nothing of what's going on.

I know, right? He was totally familiar, and great as the bad guy neighbor. *shudders to think what a nightmare THAT situation would be* Reran the credits to find a name - Vyto Ruginis. Will miss the great chemistry of NUMB3RS the most. Even Larry - who can me irritating, but he's a good foil to show us how taking the quirkiness of a scientist would be off-putting to the rest of the world. I can see how they might possibly continue on if the prospect for Rob Morrow's new show doesn't pan out. But it's not looking too good. They always had great little quotables in each ep...like last night's paraphrase - 'Everything changes, everything's the same.' David Krumholtz is also doing a pilot called "Tax Man" (more math) for Fox. Tax Man is set in an IRS office in Fresno, Calif. Isn't David Tennant supposed to be in that as well?
