Liz!! Happy happy B-Day! When I am home rather than at work, I'll find some pretties for you. Quick post and run, but do you all remember when I told you about the live bear den cam up in Ely Minnesota? Well, the mom bear is moving about outside now and you can see the cub pretty nicely sometimes - she's trying to walk and keeps falling on her nose. Heee! ;D They've got some nice edited-together videos to look at, so you don't have to be a bear researcher and stare for hours waiting for them to do something cool. You can just go here for the highlight reels.

I hope this is okay to share here - if not, let me know and I'll move it to the OT thread. I'll keep things as vague as possible. Emily has been obsessed about health care reform, and getting upset because she thought she couldn't do anything. So I suggested she email the White House and Congressmen Boxer and Feinstein and Speaker Pelosi, which she did. She just forwarded me the very nice email she got back from Sen. Boxer. I am so proud of my political wonk daughter! I think here is fine, but I've posted a response comment on the OT thread. Hey, Sue. Looks like you're excited about the tournament. I don't much follow basketball, but everyone around here is all googly-eyed about the Bobcats (Ohio) going to the tournament at all. They were the big-surprise winners of the MAC tournament and are in, seeded 14. So I've been hearing all about it. They play #3 Georgetown in their first game, and they aren't being given much of a chance, but then, they were given zero chance of even getting there - so yeah, it would be a miracle, but who knows. Good luck to Vandy (as long as they aren't playing either from-Ohio team, in which case . . . I can only offer my advance-condolences. )

I supposed my subdued avatar gave it away? ;D

So, I've pretty much decided that I'm keeping my sister's pug Ellie. When I moved her pad to a different location -- to the linoleum in the kitchen and away from the area rug in my office -- she stopped having accidents. May I say WHOO and HOO. Another positive note is that my cat Purdy, who is about 15 and has become a cranky bitca in her golden years, seems to be accepting Ellie into the fold. In fact I even caught them this morning sharing a sun patch and was able to snap a picture:

When I read that "cranky bitca in her golden years" line, I got all ready to make a snide comment to Jan. I miss that woman. Michelle: This picture is super cute!

Also? If you've read or heard of the woman who dissappeared with her eight-year-old son in Olympia this weekend: I can't understand how she didn't get back to the freeway. There's no way, given the places she asked for directions and where she ended up, for her to have done so without pretty much reversing the directions she was given and, in addition, driving past any number of signs pointing to I-5. It's not like the woman who screwed up the Blaine border crossing because she didn't know there were two Vancouvers. It's not even like the guy who got lost because there was a BLM gate that was supposed to be closed and wasn't. Driving north from Olympia gets you nowhere but the Sound, by shorter or longer paths. And getting down th the beach at Little Fishtrap involves going past any number of no trespassing signs.
It's weird and disturbing, but she wasn't heading toward Castlerock.
Julia, she may have been trying to get back to Silverdale, but there's no shortcuts that way: you can go through Tacoma, or Shelton, but otherwise the Sound is in the way.

I can think of no better use of bandwidth. Indeed!! "Maybe we should leave it alone and let it heal." "Not even if you were hanging upside-down from a trapeze!" "I have a place for your monkey, Stan..." ;D

I love the ones where mom heads outside to get some new bedding material and the cub just hollers like mad for her. ;D
