.... Huh. I could have sword I'd seen that before. We're getting two squadrons of those soon, now that an idiot who was mayor of a town adjoining the base has settled his idiotic lawsuit about noise issues and "what it will do to property values" here. As if we didn't get those F-35s, Eglin would have been closed and property values would have tanked even further. And those things? A hell of a lot quieter than F-4s, which used to be the jet of choice on that base. I was beginning to wonder if the mayors of the other towns weren't gonna put a hit out on him for that piece of idiocy.

and mom broke the hell out of her left arm, so I'll be rearranging the living room over the next few days, and trying to browbeat the orthopedist into giving her an appt tomorrow rather than Thursday. Why the frilly hell don't they fix broken bones in the Emergency room anymore? What the hell, man?

Most likely they are afraid of lawsuits since emergency rooms are often manned by residents. Sorry about your mom, Matthew.

Two photo posts today, a little one about little things and a big one full of big birds: ProjectitisWoodard Bay PreserveJulia, done for the day, or at least done in... What a neat protective device! I'm quite sure I couldn't have built such a thing. I love the preserve pictures but I think the arching branches in the last one is my favorite. Beautiful.

Trail photos are one of my favorites. There is something soothing about the 'trail out'. And the rookery. Very very cool. A blue heron is one idea I had for a tattoo - on a lilly pad, with cattails and the sun in the background. Lots of blue herons in these parts. The Chinese symbolism means something like 'looking forward, or up'. If I ever do get a tattoo.... Or maybe the Woodstock (not Snoopy's friend) logo of the bird on the guitar neck.

So, no word from Erin about her dad?
I probably won't be here much for the next week -- church retreat and then relatives (of the type who don't usually visit so not as "comfortable" as some).
But I'll check in.

Huh. Wish Erin was here to celebrate with me: Sherman Alexie has won the Penn-Faulkner award for War Dances.
Julia, off to bed now, since there's no new Daily Show tonight

Morning, S'cubies.ERIN: Vibes still going out for your dad. MATTHEW: Sorry to hear about your mom, hope she is doing better. SUE: Enjoy the retreat and relatives, and yes - pop in when you can. ALL S'CUBES: Enjoy the day - looks like we are going to have a flirtation with sunshine today before going back to the gloom for the rest of the week.

Zodiacal Light Vs. Milky Way Image Credit & Copyright: Daniel López Explanation:[/b] Ghostly Zodiacal light, featured near the center of this remarkable panorama, is produced as sunlight is scattered by dust in the Solar System's ecliptic plane. In the weeks surrounding the March equinox (today at 1732 UT) Zodiacal light is more prominent after sunset in the northern hemisphere, and before sunrise in the south, when the ecliptic makes a steep angle with the horizon. In the picture, the narrow triangle of Zodiacal light extends above the western horizon and seems to end at the lovely Pleiades star cluster. Arcing above the Pleiades are stars and nebulae along the plane of our Milky Way Galaxy. Recorded on March 10 from Teide National Park on the island of Tenerife, the vista is composed of 4 separate pictures spanning over 180 degrees.
