Just after I posted they had a completely civil conversation about politics, leading me to believe I'd somehow landed in the sideways 'verse. Any shrimp laying around? Or is it suspiciously shrimpless?

Thank you all for your good thoughts. My dad was found by a friend on Monday. He went in his sleep. Mom and I flew out to his town yesterday and are taking care of the arrangements, etc. I'm sorry I couldn't say anything before, but I had to inform others who might have reacted poorly. I'm so glad to finally hear from you, but very sorry about your news. I'm glad your mom is with you for support. Just hearing about this now, Erin. Please accept my condolences. We're here for when things get hard. Don't stay away.

Any shrimp laying around? Or is it suspiciously shrimpless? I'm afraid I don't have enough data at the moment to make a determination one way or the other. I'll keep you posted, though.

Will be having crab in lieu of shrimp.

Feeling a wee bit less down today, for now anyway. Walked to market. Doing laundry. Shortly running a few errands with Elder Daughter, among them taking back the catfood to the vet because they gave me the wrong kind and I stupidly didn't notice until I went to put it away yesterday. I hope they have the right kind, because it has to be ordered, and if I haven't missed the window for next week's delivery, it won't be in until Wednesday at the earliest. I have enough to last. I think. Bored with me now? I am.

We're here for when things get hard. Don't stay away. I promise to stick around. It's just kind of exhausting...churches and mass cards and schedules and informing people and cleaning out and that's before I've even attempted anything like canceling insurances and bank cards, etc. Mom's a rock. I'm glad she's here. I'm also glad your eye is better.

Jim is here. Yoshi is here. NPR is on the radio. I feel like I'm watching Dr. Arzt talk about how volatile old dynamite is... Understandably. Do you perhaps need to run to the office supply store for new pencil leads, or something? Julia, when not stuck on an island, take advantage of that fact...

Is anyone here watching Justified? Have we discussed this? I love this show. And Timothy Olyphant (yes Sara, I remember he's already claimed).

And Timothy Olyphant (yes Sara, I remember he's already claimed). ;D I'm hoping to sit down and watch the second episode tomorrow night—I suspect a little violence will be therapeutic after spending the afternoon at the museum dealing with kids. But if the pilot was any indication, it's quickly going to become one of my all-time faves.

Not the classiest joint, but it'll do.

How come you respect Sara's claims, but always pooh-pooh my solid, indisputable statements about who is mine? Because Sara always respects my claims, whereas you completely ignore mine. But you're comparing apples and oranges (i.e., solid and reasonable claims to frivilous and fantastical claims). Besides, you are not remembering that virtue is its own reward, plus "turn the other cheek," "do unto others," etc. I know your mamma raised you better than that.
