Welcome to Part 1098 of the Soulful Spike Society Main Thread!!! Yep, we're evil here. We're bad to the bone. (Just ask Erin, but watch out! She bites. ) Baddy, bad, bad, bad. Does that make you horny scared? Whatever. We here revel in our wickedness and if you want to get the full monty go visit our website, where you'll find all sorts of diabolical, mind-altering stuff like television show reviews, essays and the like. Come feel the perniciousness of our love for television and talk about your favorite shows in the I Love, Love, Love TV thread. If you feel like getting your own evil on and feel up to braving our sinister infamy to chat about otherwise forbidden topics of the day, go here. But, even high-fallutin' malevolence has rules and one of them is to be polite to each other. Being evil is no excuse for being rude, after all. For this rule and others equally important read the Rules. Read them, or our revenge will be enacted with exacting turpitude. And, never, ever, ever, ever post any spoilers anywhere but under the ghost button provided for your convenience or in Spoiled Souls. Don't forget that even great evil hates to have its surprises ruined. Don't do as I command suggest and we'll be gloating over our heinous retribution from now until, well, until the CoWs come home. ;D Star Trek Inspirational Posters

Walked to grocery store/bank, returned with two fully-loaded very heavy canvas grocery bags. S'cubies. This is my last no-Emily day until after Easter, and the week after Easter is all Kitty all the time, so keep a good thought for me and my temper. I should stay home and do things, but I can't figure out what's worth the effort. I'm going to drop Emily at school and run a few errands on the way home (because I'd be almost driving by anyway). Then I'll decide what, if anything, I feel like doing. This Pit(t) is deeper than I thought. I'm gonna need a taller ladder. Almost forgot: Nice opener, Better Half. You can't go wrong with the classics. Also too wink wink, first.

Great opener, Onj.
SUE:
Structurally sound is a requirement for certification of my home for foster children, in the state of Ohio. And it doesn't currently meet that requirement.
National name brands for doing the work may be available in Columbus, but I didn't even look into that. Travel costs would probably price them out of range, plus, I don't trust a company that knows it's going to be 80 miles away from its customer, after it's all done.
As far as I know, we have two guys who do this type of work, in the area. I picked the one who seems to have the best rep, and whose daughter I once hired into a job that was a real stepping stone for her, and who is a very good friend of one of my best pals.
After he looked over my basement yesterday, he thanked me for how good I had been to our mutual pal, recently.
'Cause that's how we do thangs, 'round these hyar parts.

S'cubes. Nice part opener, Onjel! You rock. Oooh, someone named William left a very nice meaty comment on the Spikecentricity thread about "Family." Good readin'. I'm not going to be camping after all, it seems. My friend is having car trouble, and is afraid to take it on a long car trip. My car is too small to carry four people (me, my friend, her son, and her son's friend) along with all the camping equipment. BUT!! My family did just schedule a trip to Burlington, Vermont in June to see some friends. So I hope to go along and possibly visit with Sara and Rich.

Around here, too: national brands are a guarantee that if things go wrong they can afford the louder and more persistant kind of lawyers. Julia, personal connections and a good reputation in the community are more reliable

Oh, and also, great opener, Onj.
Should be an interesting day, as my right hand is numb from using pruners yesterday.
Julia, also, I'm awake because I'm certifiably hungry.

Well, the last surviving member of the generation above us died today. All our parents, aunts and uncles are now gone.
This was Jim's favorite uncle, but he was 93, had serious Alzheimer's and his wife died about a year ago. Interestingly, all of the younger siblings and sibling-in-laws died first. But then his wife and all 6 of her siblings had survived polio when young, with varying degrees of long-term consequences, (in the 20's and early 30's) which probably didn't contribute to longevity.
He's being buried with full military honors at Arlington on June 28 (there is a "line"). So we are going, partly to honor him, to see the burial, and to visit with siblings and cousins.

I'm down to two uncles and an aunt-in-law (oh, and my youngest uncle's first wife) on Mom's side, which is just weird. For all of my life There was this platoon of aunts and uncles and a brigade of cousins, and it's like the roof has been ripped off my world with them gone. Julia, cranky about this linear time thing, again

From LJ's metaquotes:norabombay speaks the hidden language of dogs:
I've come to the conclusion that sudden bouts of loud barking at nothing in the middle of the night?
Are merely the dog way of saying "Someone is WRONG on the INTERNET".It's as good an explanation as any, I'd say.

In totally trivial but perhaps moderately entertaining news, today I was retweeted by Erica Evans from V. IE whoever it is that's playing her on Twitter. This morning she Tweeted:6 more days! Guess who's planning to take over our world? - twitpic.com/1asnbr #VseriesI Tweeted back:Pinky and the Brain? First, she just did an @ reply to me:Well. I'm not sure rats are any better than lizards. What's worse is intellectual reptiles. But then she actually retweeted my response as well, with an additional comment: RT @sawilcox28 Pinky and the Brain? RT @agentericaevans Guess who's planning to take over our world? // Rats & Lizards. Not much diff to me.Good times.

Sam's gf went to Disneyland with her mother, so he's been here this week (that statement contains sufficient evidence for the form and function of their relationship to fuel hours of analysis). Work has been done; unfortunately, such work has resulted in the usual pile o'stuff in need of composting...
Julia, also, raining, boo.
