Slept in. Well, for values of "slept in" which include awakening at 5:30 to find the sun up and my husband not abed, plus, for the win, no it wasn't, Ruby demanding to be let out at 5:45 and then again just as I started to fall asleep again some time well after six. So I am not a happy camper by any stretch of the imagination, and now the cat is demanding unknown things of me in a very loud voice. Julia, also, not suddenly sunny and seventy again, although it is supposed to peak above 50 this afternoon. For me, "slept in" means I get up, as usual, to feed the baby at 6, but then I go back to bed and she sleeps past 7. Which happens, usually, once per weekend. And yet it feels wonderful. Our standards, they adapt to our situation, yeah? Since I get up at 4:50 on weekdays, "sleeping in" means anything past 5. It's all relative.

Argh. I thought I had my afternoon planned. I went to lie down after lunch, dozed off, and Kitty called from school - the project meeting at somebody's house after school is still on, but she needs a ride there, would I come get her after school and drive her over. I said, "You want me to do what?" She asked if it would be better if she took the schoolbus home and I drove her from here. Yes, absolutely. Anything is better than dealing with the insane snarls of traffic around the school and industrial park (two narrow lanes each way up a steep hill, dead-ending at the high school) not to mention the freeway intersection at rush hour on a Friday. What a mess. And somebody will have to retrieve her later. I'm going to make Paul do it; I'll record Washington Week if I have to, but I will. not. drive. at. night. Damn, and we were going to watch Fringe after WW, too. So much for my quiet evening. So much, for that matter, for my afternoon nap. And for the record, I haven't slept in since the cats went on short rations some years ago. On weekends and holidays, Patches comes knocking at the door starting at 5AM, because Paul's alarm goes off at 4:50AM on weekdays, and she doesn't want me to forget about breakfast. Sometimes I can go back to sleep after, but not often. She used to meow under the door in the middle of the night, because she was bored and wanted company, but I think I broke her of the habit. I still keep a spray bottle of water next to the door, just in case. When Patches is awake, she wants everybody awake with her... ETA: I did accomplish one me-thing - one of my errands was to Michael's for a 6x8 frame to match the two already way up high on my studio wall. I just framed the little "Keep Calm and Carry On" poster and put it between the two framed cards, where I think it looks very nice. Then I hung the hand nicho between that frame and the one with the winged heart card. I'm pleased. Now all I need to do is find something to cover up the nail hole, erm, that is, hang next to the Mexican tin mirror on the south wall to balance the bark paper bookmark on the other side. I'm sure something will present itself sooner or later. ETA the 2nd: Something did present itself, or rather, herself - the Frida angel ornament my cousin sent me last year, which was made by an artist friend of hers (Alison is quite the artist too), fits perfectly on one side of the mirror.

Guess it's too early for a new part, so I'll have to defer, again, to another TP to make one. I'm such a slacker. . ..

*Hugs Erin and Lola* I just feel like all my nerve endings are raw, and everything hits me the wrong way. Since you asked, this is the finished project I made to give my mom: Altered Tin Picture Frame. The other one is the first lesson in my online class - I was just pleased that it was finished and looked okay, and wanted to share. Erin, I didn't have a pattern, it's just fabric cut in a square with batting between the two layers, and the back piece is rolled over the front edge and whip-stitched. It seems to be what all the cool art quilters are doing lately - this is the second teacher I've met who starts the project out this way. Lola, I post links to my LJ, but I try to make sure that when I do that, they're set as public. Gorgeous! FINALLY got to see it. It Is GORGEOUS!

Well, I was going to post the daily photo link. But I think instead I'll put together a new part so we can start fresh for the weekend.
