Thanks for getting the new part going, Rachael! Just wanted to let you guys know that I'll be in Chicago, starting tomorrow, for about a week and a half. Not sure how much I'll be on the board, but wanted to tell you so no one would worry. Hope all is well. My fingers are crossed for Spring's bureaucratic nightmare. Looking for something to do? Carolyn is performing tomorrow night at 8: chicago.ioimprov.com/schedule/1/7/2010Her group is called "You People" Her boyfriend will be doing two Improvised Shakespeare sets on Friday night. If you like that kind of thing.

I am suffering from "change overload."
Should never have switched out 12 light fixtures at once. The ones in the guest bathroom MUST go back. Which wouldn't be such a big except for paying the electrician ..... again.

Only 44 more! Do it in time for International Lefties Day!"
Good idea. But with less than 44 days left before the sinister holiday, I'll have to make sure I keep up the pace.

It was celebrated in his part of England as a day to give thanks that they got rid of us.

Television is annoying. Today I've bounced around between bunches of different shows and in every single one of them women are there to (a) scream (b) whine (c) faint (d) get rescued by mens. And every single one of them Bechdel test failed. Men talk to men but women don't talk to women. deeply annoying
I watched a dragon film, Eragon, which annoyed the hell out of me, because they invented a female character that not only doesn't talk to other women but cannot, only her bloke rider can hear her at all. Also she'll die without him. deeply creepy
and if I never see another film about the Chosen One who turns up all teenage and arrogant and just out of the blue turns up better at fighting/magic/winning wars they didn't even know about...
... okay, that one sounds like Buffy, but somehow it was way less annoying when it was the one and only time it's a girl.
I must write better films.
Also I have noticed that it's very nearly as annoying to have womens around who can fight, lots of kick arse sword stuff or whatever, but who apparently can't make up their own minds, fight their own battles, or have any goals of their own that aren't all about The Guy.
No, probably more annoying. I mean if they scream and faint and have no skills you can at least see why they need protecting. If they're the equal or better in every relevant skill set then why are they waiting around for the guy? There's only the one reason left.
Same goes for all the stories where the locals (brown) have to wait for the outsider (white) who will then show them how to use all the skills and resources they already had.
Why so annoying, TV? Why so annoying, film and even radio?
Why is it if I want a better story I'm stuck with going back to the 90s, or in some cases the 70s?

PS: The more time goes by, the more I identify with Giles. Teenagers
The bit of the story that's about sending teenagers to fight battles for you is too much like RL news though. Makes sense unfortunately.

Okey dokey. You know you're on short time when your to-do list for tomorrow is about four hours' worth of work.
Planning for downtime in the afternoon, me.

Good news! It's now cooler outside than it is in my apartment. Which translates into it being 87 in here and 85 out there. But now I've got all the windows open and fans drawing the cooler air through from outside, so maybe I'll be able to breathe again soon. I can dare to dream, anyway...

Dare to dream, Sara, live the dream!! **sends cooling waves of better weather in Sara's direction** I'm doing a bit better here than you, but still haven't opened the windows 'cuz it's 85 out there but only 81 in here (woo hoo! and a dry 81 instead of muggy like outdoors, can I get another woo, yeah baby and some extra hoo too!). But I like your optimism so I'm gonna dream the dream too.
