Quick Good Morning, S'cubies! Am buried in red-tape stuff dealing with banking issues, the BMV and my car insurance company, and really surprisingly - inheritance issues. Surprising because I didn't think my son had a dime to his name . . . forgetting that he once worked briefly for the state of Ohio, and therefore has a contribution to the Ohio Public Employees Retirement System. However, they tracked me down, and are asking me to fill out all this paperwork to collect the amount, which is not a lot, of course. But I plan to do it. Not only do I have to prove I am Mom (official copy of his BC), I have to prove both my son and his father are deceased (official copies of both of their DCs). Then, I have this long form to fill out and get notarized. Also, the county courthouse sent Vince a bill - to him, in his name, for some court costs he still owes from long ago. I was so irritated (long history here), I just sent that back marked "deceased," to see what happens. All this in the mail that I had on hold. I go months and months with nothing but junk, and this month, loads of stuff. Dealing with it all is mostly OK - bouts of "I cannot, cannot, cannot do this" come and go.

Unfun! I am so happy that my sister's ex is an electrician. **send you good remodel vibes** I am fairly happy with the new built-ins in my place, except for an oddly placed cut-thru for cords. Why into a drawer? Why not into the open space on the other side? That is where one will place the cable box or other equipment? You know, the stuff that needs the cords run to it? Why? Ahem. But they are very lovely in every other way - so I am very very happy!! **goes back to looking at the pretty** Think I screwed this up! Congrats on your remodel. I love your condo, especially your kitchen! Love to check out your new updates sometime. If I ever get back to Minneapolis. Betsy! How ya doing, babe? What are you up to? What are you watching? Traveling at all? Jim and I recently attended a funeral at Arlington and the (or a) Navy Band played. I thought of you.

The word for that icon is "comfort." So, I second the emotion. I really feel for you having to go through all of that stuff and have your life in such upheaval. I know you have some support, but offer mine in whatever way possible.

Hiya S'cubies RSVPs are slowly trickling in. This week's to do list includes starting my dress by having a taping and pattern drafting session, getting Jason's pattern and doing his muslin, adjusting said pattern and then making his shirt. Next week I get to do my dress, finish the cranes, start the pie crusts for the individual hand pies I'm making for the picnic, and start my snood for my hair, which I think will echo the central pattern of my shawl only in a cobweb red cashmere with white seed beads instead of the white with red beads of my shawl. And doing a complete cleaning because Rich is coming down next weekend to watch us do that whole legal thing If only we weren't slowly roasting... I hate hot weather. Have a great day, and stay cool! This all sounds wonderful. I'm looking forward to photos of your outfits and the event, in due course. Hand pies? Are those like finger sandwiches, with real fingers?

We are at the point of having to order a bunch more death certificates for Franklin's parents to deal with unclaimed property in Oklahoma, Texas, and California: I never actually met Mrs. FJR Jr, since she died two weeks before the St. Helens eruption. This has done nothing to eleviate Franklin's depression, and is beginning to feel like Jarndyce v. Jarndyce. Wills, people: everybody needs one. Having a probate certificate to refer too is ever so much more convenient. Julia, w/an insanely complicated is basically penny-ante inheritorship situation on Franklin's side of the family, so the polar opposite of Spring's situation and much more extreme than anyone else's.

After Ian died I got a bill from some credit card company looking for about $800 in charges. Well, it turned out to be the card he had from the guy he did gun repairs for. The charges were for gun parts. Needless to say that guy wasn't going to fork over the money. I wrote back to the card people, never revealing that I was Ian's wife, and told them he died destitute (True! All assets beloned to me). I said I was his caretaker (Also true.) It took about three months to convince them that Ian had nothing from which they could collect. By that time I had moved and the letters eventually stopped. However, it was a source of a great deal of pain and paperwork. *hugs*
