We got rolled.Moderate, but a ways from us, so no damage here. I was ironing, and at first I thought I'd leaned too hard on the ironing board. As soon as I realised it was an earthquake, I unplugged the iron, set it upright and moved back a bit. Good thing the board is one of those oldfashioned built-ins so it can't fall over. I've emailed various family members, including my sister and her husband, who are closer to the epicenter. So we're all fine here, how are you? We're good here. Just wet. A BIG thunderstorm is presently passing overhead. That's like the 50th or so in the last two weeks. Soggy, that's us. And under flood watches again. But otherwise okay. Glad you only got rolled and not flattened. I don't like the idea of a flat Mommy Anne.

I think I am going to declare today to be Useless Thursday. I've made tea for me, and the family thermos for everybody else, I'm about to feed the cats, and after The Husband leaves for work, I am going back to bed for a while. Maybe later I'll work on some hand-sewing, or sort beads or something. At least that's the plan right now. I do have to induce the Younger Daughter to do the credit card application online test thingy soon, but that's all the useful I'm going for today. That and emptying all the wastebaskets, and cleaning out the fridge, and maye I should do laundry today because I'll be out all day tomorrow... oh At least I'm going back to bed for a while. ETA: Well, that lasted about half an hour, thank you fluffycat. Downloaded/saved/printed second lesson of Treasure Nests class. Maybe I'll even start working on the first lesson today. Or not. Laundry is sorted and in progress. Now I need to do something about breakfast before I fall over from not eating. HappyMomCat has definitely run out of Happy, and anything else in the way of positive energies...

I'm trying to come up with a polite way to tell someone that if they ever again do the "hurry up" hand roll motion while snapping their fingers, even in jest, as a way to indicate they need something from me soon I will remove said appendage with a butter knife and feed it to them. Thoughts? LOLOL, I laugh because I've done that to my coworkers before. ;D But they all love me so they'd never think to be upset with me for it. Actually, most of them are scared of me and would never think of telling me they're upset with me for it. I don't know why they're afraid of me. I'm a snuggly happy cheerful non-threatening baby lamb! I'm sure your co-workers consider you VERY snuggly! They would just love to "snuggle" you to DEATH, you baby lamb, you!

Last night Anna took it upon herself to shut the study window, and we're starting the day with an interior temp of 72.7F, three degrees hotter than outside, ten degrees warmer than the over-night low: it's supposed to be 25 degrees warmer by sunset, which, of course, falls around 9pm or a bit after.
She also did not wash the dishes.
Nothing gets done around here unless I'm the one to do it, or stand and shout until it gets done, and I am tired of that situation
Julia, who missed the caps lock and is too tired to go back and yell louder.

We have a guest visiting us from another office. I was introduced. We shook hands. He has an iron/steel grip.
I hurt.

Hiya. In Rachael news this week, I'm moderately swamped trying to plan my new lab and get finished with this one...we've been sleep training Emily (now being better than AFTER I start working a whole lot harder than I've had to in a while), and on the ninth night she went to sleep in just 15 minutes and didn't wake up all night...she also got a new carseat today, as she is now too tall for her infant seat, at only 9.5 months. She's as tall as the average year-old, but weighs about as much as the average six-month-old. Her doctor looks at me and says, "Yeah, not worried." She loves her new seat, 'cause she can see out of the windows now.

Also -- smart doctor. Non sequiter: Where's Pixi been?

So I'll start moving in at the start of August, since I have nothing else to do. Mostly, I'm trying not to freak out about three weeks with no health insurance. The commute is about the same in time, a little longer in distance (much less traffic to San Jose than to San Francisco).

#wavey# *sends luckies for jobs and getting people to do jobs* *sends some happies* I have been reading Doctor Who books and watching Doctor Who episodes with stone angels and also eating chocolate brownies. also today I did my bits of cleaning and the cleaner did all their cleaning and the house is clean and the foods arrived on the delivery truck and the toilet roll had sort of burst out of the wrapper and I was :-( but I needed it so I couldn't send it back so I said :-( at the driver and he wrote it down as damaged so I'll get refunded for it anyway. Win! Also my new dress I got from the £5 bargain box goes right down to my toes and is very comfy and swooshy and will be great for going on a Quest in. And it is sky blue so I can be skyclad the socially acceptable way. And it is good for answering the door because once it's on everything is covered and there's no worrying about belts. today:

also, opinion: I know not to accept damaged cans, but you know them boxes with fruit juice in? if they look like they've been dropped and squished is that a problem? If they were leaking it would show, they were just very not square any more. I said it was squished and they took it back, but I don't know if squished is an actual problem in juice.

Can you not do COBRA just for a month. Also, there are short term policies as well. I didn't even let Allison spend 2.5 weeks in Europe without a short term overseas policy.
Apparently I"m always expecting the Apocalypse. I wonder why?
