Welcome to the Soulful Spike Society Main Thread Part 1110! Ah...slapstick humour. Gotta love it for the evil snicker effect, even when it metaphors current sucky, real life events.
( (And now for the awkward segue......)Just try and stop us from sharing our heart-stopping Jossverse characters, our mindbending insights and our love, love, LOVE for TV.
Spoilers bring us down, and we will STOP you from posting them anywhere but in the Spoiled Souls thread, and use the ghosty button above for casting spoilers, please. You can talk about a show that just aired on the Main Thread, but please be gracious and mark a warning in BIG LETTERS, so that the unwary won't feel like the poor guy who walked into the bar.....
Please run over to the Open Topics Thread to vent on touchy current events about politics, religion, etc. and you won't run full tilt into the Rule Enforcing technopagans. Ok....speaking of bars......the Windows Vista inventor needs a bar upside his/her head.....and I need a drink. Enjoy the shiny new space!

Thanks for all the vibes and good wishes.
Oh, angelique -- thinking of you and hoping for a good outcome after all your careful planning and hard work. Don't blame yourself, although as my sister oftens says "it may not be my fault, but it is my problem.
Hoping, hoping you find a good alternative and it all works out. Sorry to be so trite, brain only half functioning, but the good wishes are for real.

Anne-- I got a form email from Yahoo to day (more like 50 hours instead of 24) saying "we understand contacts are missing from your address book" (which is not actually the specific problem) and their "engineers are working to resolve the problem." It's not fixed yet, but 2 things have happened so far: First, I noticed that even though I had no categories listed if I choose one specific contact and when into edit mode where the contact is now listed as "unfiled" if I chose "add category" mode the categories did show up there, even though, for me, they still didn't appear under the "view all contacts" list. However, now there has been a second improvement: my categories are back and showing in the drop down menu of "show all contacts." I think this is what you described. Of course, if I pick one of those categories it is still listed as "no contacts" in the category, but I can at least see some progress. Also this: answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20100808160244AAy3nO9 and this: ca.answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AvdccGR2akh.s5FZ2tzGAsLxYH1G;_ylv=3?qid=20100809190021AA2p4xw

I got a response, if you can call it that, about restoring contacts that had been deleted. That wasn't the question. I sent them a response explaining the problem, and that it appeared I wasn't the only one. Idiots. Thank you for the links; yes, it looks like a mass(ive) problem. I checked the family email contacts, and they've all fallen out of their categories too, so it's definitely not just a few people. Grrrrrr.

Hoping that Angelique's problem irons itself out to to something weddingy wonderful.
Hope all S'cubies are in good health and happiness.
Today's hearings have been amended without anybody bothering to tell me so I have major c*ckups to untangle before 8AM.
See you all after.

Thanks for all the well wishes and suggestions everyone. We're having it at Rich's house which kinda makes things a bit easier in some ways. We don't have to cart everything up to the park. Simple can be better at times
