Interesting pics from the storm - leveled Autotech Center, crumpled HS bleachers, etc. I am making scones. Yes, scones! Lemon ones. This is quite the "foreign occupation" for me - and I mean to use both meanings there: It's a job I'm unfamiliar with, and I believe I've been temporarly possessed by the soul of a Brit. They look pretty good, and are currently cooling off. But I'm not 100% sure what they are SUPPOSED to be like, so . . . I dunno. I watched some youtube vids, but people sure make them lots o' different ways. I'm not sure they are "raised" enough. They haven't risen as much as regular biscuits would. But they look as high as some pics of scones, and not as high as others. I did a wedge shape. That's some mess. Then again, I've never heard of a neat tornado. Soul of a Brit? ?? What is my Ian doing at your house? He loved scones and was an excellent cook! I miss his lemon chicken and his shepherd's pie. If you see him, send him home, okay? He says he's always home, and you look sexy. He also says my scones aren't quite right . . .

First! Great opener, Erin. "We do not confuse pretentiousness with inherent awesomeness." "Can't make it to DC but still want to restore sanity to discussions of politics, religion, or other touchy topics?" Hee! Glad you like it! I am SO wanting to go to DC. So does Mom. We're gonna see if it is actually possible. If so, I'll report for all the S'cubies. I'd make a donation to your travel fund if you will represent us. Yeah. What's up with that, anyway? Nasty tornado, Spring! What, no tornado sirens? Yeah - that's the way it is around here when it's close. Glad you and Nanucci are ok. Happy Birthday to Emily! Time does fly...Lucas will be 4 on the 20th. Festivities are tomorrow. I'm going up to watch the Husker game later today with Nick, who is currently cooling his golf spikes at his tournament while he waits for the storm to pass. Diane, sorry your grandson's procedure didn't give you guys an answer. One of the men I work with had many heart procedures and they still couldn't figure out the reason for the pain. Contracting esophogus, was the closest they could come to a diagnoses. Hopefully, they will figure out what is going on with your grandson soon, and that it's not anything serious. It's got to be so frustrating. Glad to hear Franklin is doing well, Julia! Love the Firefly story. 'Our' people are everywhere! Nice to see you, angelique! You should take a breather...get a 9 to 5 job. I sooooo want to go to DC on October 30th. How fun would that be? Can you imagine the damage that could be done to the Capital by an influx of S'cubies? Me, as a Fed, I probably would be banned by various regulations from taking part--but you can count of moral support if I can find my morals. They might have gotten lost when I moved. Carolyn wondered about that --- if she was allowed to go (she works for the Office of the Inspector General) as a federal government employee. She seemed to think that she could, as long as she didn't do it on "company time."

I remember noticing them briefly, but sirens during a storm . . . it just didn't grab my attention. I was simply not paying attention to my surroundings much. Big thunderstorms are nothing new, and I didn't notice the extra excitement. I have no idea what was going on in my head, really. Lucas sounds like SUCH a cutie. I am glad you are having fun with me. Ohio University is playing Ohio State today, so I can't lose! I will probably be watching that at noon. I can't decide which I want more: The fun and excitement of watching the Bobcats beat the Buckeyes (which would cause this town to go wild!), or if I want a good, fun game, but for the Buckeyes to preserve their perfect season. There is lots more to lose, for the Buckeyes, plus how are Monnie & I going to go to the National Championship game together if the Buckeyes lose? Oh well. It'll be fun to watch, regardless. I would take a Vandy win over Alabama over the chance for the SEC to beat up on the Big Ten. But then, the odds of that are vanishing small.

I'd make a donation to your travel fund if you will represent us. "S'cubies for Sanity" "SoulfulSpikeSociety Supports Sanity (Sort of)" Yes! In fact, there's a BtVS quote we could use: "Soulful Spike Society S'cubies, reporting for sanity!"From this scene (one of my all time faves), in Beauty and The Beast: BUFFY: Buffy Summers, reporting for sanity. Look - I know that I have to do this, and I'll cooperate, and I'll look at your ink blots and everything, but I don't wanna talk about my life or my childhood or anything, for that matter, actually. And, I don't wanna be friends here.
MR. PLATT: We're not gonna be friends. You have friends already, I hope. Friends are a good thing. Mm-hm. They like you, agree with you, tell you what you wanna hear. That's not what you need right now. What you need is a trained, not too crazy professional who will always give you his honest opinion. Which I offer. Have a seat.

I'm not looking forward to how bitchy and whiny she will be in defeat, but I plan to take a big bottle of limoncello with me to console her. The Bobcats are not doing well. It's 27 - 0, OSU. We are in the second half, with six minutes left in the half and the Bobcats have managed only one first-down. Followed immediately by a turnover to the Buckeyes. Oh, my. I hope they put up a better fight in the second half. Tressel won't "run it up" on the Bobcats. He's known for his restraint and class when it comes to not "running up" the score. There are two brothers playing - one Posey brother for OU, one for OSU. One tackled the other earlier, causing what looked like some good natured trash talk.

I finally got here, four phone calls and two long emails that should have been sent on Wednesday later, and now I'm too pooped to peep, so to speak.
I got cockblocked on the CCU waiting room computer by a fat guy in a hospital gown, IV in tow, who resolutely ignored the signs about not hogging the computer.
Julia, which I've probably told you...

Be sure to see Emily's birthday present in previous part. We did, and she had a mini-meltdown when I stopped letting her touch the computer screen. Thank you!

I just got her card in the mail this morning, oops. I've been hoarding it for a while, but my brain forgot the schedule... A year old on Monday, wow, where did the time go? Anne, went out, had breakfast, came home, fell over, went back to bed, what the hell is going on and where's my Saturday?

Limoncello will definitely make me even happier as I'm rubbing the Alabama win over OSU in your tear-streaked face. Alabama is opening up a can of whup ass all over Duke right now. Two touchdowns in the first 4 1/2 minutes of the game. Ingram already has over 100 yards rushing and there's still over 6 minutes left in first quarter. ETA: Sorry to hear about the Athens tornado! Notice how I tactfully chose not to make a Wizard of Oz reference or anything comparing you to a wicked old witch. I feel I've grown as a person on this day.

That would be because Duke is academically superior, therefore, their football team is not as good. I'm not sure how this explains their basketball program though. It's almost as if you can't judge academics by the sports teams, but surely, that is crazy talk. I wore my ruby slippers yesterday. I am very Dorothy - sweet, cute, innocent. That makes the other travelin' Ms the Tin Man, The Scarecrow, and The Lion. I would say you are The Tin Man (heartless), and . . . Michelle is the Cowardly Lion (sorry, Michelle, but one word: Rutabaga!!), and Lola the Scarecrow (brain goes on fritz whenever slash is mentioned). Yes, that does it. And I also resisted any insulting witch references!! Yes, I see what you mean about feeling all good about my maturity.
