I am watching Florida play Tennesse right now, but I may have to find a diff game to watch. I don't really care who wins this one. I may have to watch USC - Minnesota, currently 13 - 7, USC.

Interesting pics from the storm - leveled Autotech Center, crumpled HS bleachers, etc. I am making scones. Yes, scones! Lemon ones. This is quite the "foreign occupation" for me - and I mean to use both meanings there: It's a job I'm unfamiliar with, and I believe I've been temporarly possessed by the soul of a Brit. They look pretty good, and are currently cooling off. But I'm not 100% sure what they are SUPPOSED to be like, so . . . I dunno. I watched some youtube vids, but people sure make them lots o' different ways. I'm not sure they are "raised" enough. They haven't risen as much as regular biscuits would. But they look as high as some pics of scones, and not as high as others. I did a wedge shape. What made you decide to try to make them? Invite a "Giles" over and serve them with some good tea.

Hee! Glad you like it! I am SO wanting to go to DC. So does Mom. We're gonna see if it is actually possible. If so, I'll report for all the S'cubies. I'd make a donation to your travel fund if you will represent us. "S'cubies for Sanity" "SoulfulSpikeSociety Supports Sanity (Sort of)" I love it, Sue!!

In fact, there's a BtVS quote we could use: "Soulful Spike Society S'cubies, reporting for sanity!"From this scene (one of my all time faves), in Beauty and The Beast: BUFFY: Buffy Summers, reporting for sanity. Look - I know that I have to do this, and I'll cooperate, and I'll look at your ink blots and everything, but I don't wanna talk about my life or my childhood or anything, for that matter, actually. And, I don't wanna be friends here.
MR. PLATT: We're not gonna be friends. You have friends already, I hope. Friends are a good thing. Mm-hm. They like you, agree with you, tell you what you wanna hear. That's not what you need right now. What you need is a trained, not too crazy professional who will always give you his honest opinion. Which I offer. Have a seat.I forgot about this scene! I loved Mr. Platt.

ETA: Sorry to hear about the Athens tornado! Notice how I tactfully chose not to make a Wizard of Oz reference or anything comparing you to a wicked old witch. I feel I've grown as a person on this day. I wore my ruby slippers yesterday. I am very Dorothy - sweet, cute, innocent. That makes the other travelin' Ms the Tin Man, The Scarecrow, and The Lion. I would say you are The Tin Man (heartless), and . . . Michelle is the Cowardly Lion (sorry, Michelle, but one word: Rutabaga!!), and Lola the Scarecrow (brain goes on fritz whenever slash is mentioned). Yes, that does it. And I also resisted any insulting witch references!! Yes, I see what you mean about feeling all good about my maturity. No offense taken. It's true, I am the cowardly lion. And it kinda fits with me being a Leo and all. *sings* "If IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII were the kiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiing of the foreeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeest..." And please notice that I too took the higher road and refrained from making any references to flying monkeys that like to flash their boobies.

Oh, and for the food poisoning, Rachael...did you try apple cider vinegar and charcoal tablets? I hear they work well. Lucas spent the night last night. He loves playing with my Beany Baby bear dracula, Baron Von Pyre. What is the appeal of vampires. He laughs and screams when the Baron tries to suck his blood! Maybe it's the accent. Ha!!! That story makes my fuzzies feel warm.

They look tasty and biteable from this side of the computer! *ignoring the Husker/Husky game until I can watch it on the DVR later *

The baron was vying for Esmeralda bear's affection, but Peter the pumpkin eater bear won out. There is no accounting for taste, it seems. Nice day for baking. I made some 'Oat Days a Week' oatmeal cookies from the Beatles cookbook. They are light and crispy and melt in your mouth. I snuck a bite...but they are soooo not on my no-sugar diet.

I'm really not sure. I will have to go buy some scones somewhere, I guess. I've had them before, but not often enough, or recently enough, to feel sure about this.

The one time I tried making them, they came out a bit heavy. The recipes are similar to pie crust or crumb topping in technique. Not much mixing, and you cut/rub the butter into the dry ingredients. I've never tried to perfect them, but it might be worth the effort. When we were in Siesta Key three years ago, we stumbled upon a tea and scone cafe on the beach on the last day we were there. Their scones were awesome. Blueberry. Light and melt in your mouth. Perfect with tea. I wish we would've found the place on the first day. I would've spend every morning there. Bit of England in Florida.

Limoncello will definitely make me even happier as I'm rubbing the Alabama win over OSU in your tear-streaked face. What are you trying to say? That would be because Duke is academically superior, therefore, their football team is not as good. I'm not sure how this explains their basketball program though. It's almost as if you can't judge academics by the sports teams, but surely, that is crazy talk. I wore my ruby slippers yesterday. I am very Dorothy - sweet, cute, innocent. She controls things from behind the curtain and solves all the problems in the end and gives wise advice? And Jan was Auntie Em?
