3 pages on a Saturday? That may be a record!
I'd like to note that Vanderbilt scored twice in the first quarter, stayed ahead the entire game and held on for a win: ON THE ROAD.
We are so relieved that it will not be an 0-12 season. After losing to Northwestern this was a definite possibility and the "line" on the game was Ole Miss by 12.
BIG NFL game tomorrow: Steelers are in town versus the Titans.

That's just the thing - I think they should be a little dryer and lighter, but . . . I'm really not sure. I will have to go buy some scones somewhere, I guess. I've had them before, but not often enough, or recently enough, to feel sure about this. Yeah. The one time I tried making them, they came out a bit heavy. The recipes are similar to pie crust or crumb topping in technique. Not much mixing, and you cut/rub the butter into the dry ingredients. I've never tried to perfect them, but it might be worth the effort. When we were in Siesta Key three years ago, we stumbled upon a tea and scone cafe on the beach on the last day we were there. Their scones were awesome. Blueberry. Light and melt in your mouth. Perfect with tea. I wish we would've found the place on the first day. I would've spend every morning there. Bit of England in Florida. Hmmm. Well - I do know one English guy around here. I don't know him that well. I wonder if he'd mind taste testing. . . let's see, how do I approach this . . . "Uh, Clive*, would you mind tasting my scone? I'm worried it is too moist." That might work, I guess. *not his real name

Which might sound like "come on guys, act like you've won before" except that after 19 years of assistant coaching this was the guy's first ever win as a Head Coach, so I think that is why they did it.

What are you trying to say? That would be because Duke is academically superior, therefore, their football team is not as good. I'm not sure how this explains their basketball program though. It's almost as if you can't judge academics by the sports teams, but surely, that is crazy talk. I wore my ruby slippers yesterday. I am very Dorothy - sweet, cute, innocent. That makes the other travelin' Ms the Tin Man, The Scarecrow, and The Lion. I would say you are The Tin Man (heartless), and . . . Michelle is the Cowardly Lion (sorry, Michelle, but one word: Rutabaga!!), and Lola the Scarecrow (brain goes on fritz whenever slash is mentioned). Yes, that does it. And I also resisted any insulting witch references!! Yes, I see what you mean about feeling all good about my maturity. Is Sarah the Wizard? She controls things from behind the curtain and solves all the problems in the end and gives wise advice? And Jan was Auntie Em? No, I'd say Rich was the Wizard of Oz, and Oz is Montreal. Sara was Glenda the Good Witch, and Jan, of course, was the Wicked Witch - she never stopped claiming Spike, you know! And Kaylee was Toto, of course. She does think she's much smaller than she is.

I need entertained.
Unfortunately, all entertainment involves me getting out of my nice office chair, which I neglected mentioning along with the raspberries, my own bed, and my iMac as things I missed the whole time I was gone.
Julia, good lumbar support is true bliss.

It's Ratbag Saturday. Went out, had breakfast, came home, went back to bed. Got up, scrounged some tea, toast and cheese for late lunch, went back to bed again. After which, I attempted some freehand machine quilting (for my online class) using the feet I have because I don't have a darning foot (darnit), which didn't work at all. I got even more discouraged. So I decided maybe I'd just do straight lines instead. After which, I decided to cull my collection of sewing machine accessories (mostly specialized feet) from machines long gone and otherwise acquired, and discovered that I do in fact have a darning foot. I must have bought it, tried a bit of freehand, and put it away, years ago. It even fits the new Arachne, and seems to work well enough. So now all I need is practice. Lots of practice. I'm feeling very rollercoaster-moody and at the moment, but at least I have the right tool for the job now. I fear that the bad side of the mood swings is going to increase the closer I get to December, but maybe after that things will improve. I was also not reassured by my doctor, who said that I could continue the monthly mood swings for several more years... and many good vibes for them what needs it.

I'm trying to figure out if I should call Franklin and speak to him tonight, or let him rest. Like every decision about him this week, it's tearing me to bits. And dealing with the fact I just ran outside to take photos in the pouring rain and I'm feeling seriously damp. Julia, damp.

Yeah, right on it- at 8pm, so he should be awake and resting. Sunset tonight, for the aquatic among us. Julia, I hate telephones so very much.

You are every bit as mature as Monnie. I mean that. Ouch. Damned with faint praise.
