We're expecting some weather later on today. It's a calm 32 right now. A few years ago on Dec. 1, Rt 80 turned into a parking lot for 8 hours after a freak snowstorm.

"Nasty" is sort of the default for winter weather within the western front of the Cascades and Sierra Nevada: at least this front is drawing from south of forty degrees, so it's just wet and windy and not also frozen. I can do without more of that. Julia, also lucky that it's not coming from south of thirty, because that would dump two weeks of heavy snow in the moutains all into the rivers at once, and we've had sufficient of that to last for a while.

For those keeping track of such things, The Husband arrived safely in Baltimore last night. Late, but safely, although he said the flight from Atlanta to Baltimore was rather like a rollercoaster.
On the other hand, I didn't remember until dinnertime last night that I'd forgotten to remind him to pack his blood-pressure meds. Boy, am I an idiot.TM He thinks he may still have some of the ones I made him pack last time in his travel kit. I hope so. It's a very minimal dose, and I suspect he didn't bother to take them last trip because I wasn't there to make him, but still I worry.
I also discovered when I bought the Younger Daughter's new bus pass that she's eligible for the cheaper Youth pass, by virtue of still being 18. We could've been saving $22 a month, if I'd but thought to inquire. Boy, am I an idiot.TM
Then I got an eggnog latte on the way home, first one of the season, to which my tum replied "Do Not Want". Boy, am I an idiot.TM
So help me, if it wasn't laundry day, I'd go back to bed. Except that bed is already occupied by the big fluffycat.
On the other hand (how many hands is that?) I like my new teakettle. It's rounded and flattish, sort of like a bun, or a curling stone (it's a fiendish thingy). Boy, am I an idiot silly.TM

Just wanted to say something that's waaaaaaaaaaay overdue... Thank you so much for all of your support, comments, and compliments over the course of my photography project. You've been there for me every step of the way, with encouragement, praise, and reassurance every time I needed it. When I saw you guys talking last week about sponsoring photos if I wanted to enter them in that NatGeo contest, I almost started crying at my desk—it really meant the world to me. I don't know what I did to deserve having such amazing friends in my life, and not a day goes by that I'm not grateful for all of you. Again, I thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Some of them are pretty benign when skipped (diuretics, for one instance, although it's best to be really cagy about salt intake if you're skipping those), skipping others (beta blockers, especially) can precipitate migraines, and Clonidine and allied drugs are never to be skipped ever because of ferocious rebound hypertension. I know these things because of the Great Missoula Deer Adventure, when I was short by two days of getting home with meds and had to wangle a one-week script for bunch o'meds out of nonintersecting pharmacies. Julia, it is not impossible to do so and best to do it right.

Julia, it is not impossible to do so and best to do it right. He takes half of a lisinopril/hydrocholorthiazide, so it's partly a diuretic. It's a really small dose, for what that's worth. I'll nag him tonight about it, because maybe he found the pillbox from last time in his travel kit. If that's not the case, I don't know what we'll do; by the time I could wade through our HMO system and try to convince them to talk to me, get back to him, and find the right pharmacy somewhere in Maryland, he'd probably be home anyway. I was so busy making sure he remembered the cell phone and the charger, and put them in the right places (although he may yet have left the phone on the seat of his car, like last time), that I completely forgot to nag about his pills.

You didn't have to DO anything. You just had to be you. That was quite enough. Besides, I for one, look forward to my daily birdies, bug and the occasional Kaylee. It's one of the treats of the day. So there.

It is cute. But I wonder how a whistle can be both "pleasant" AND "loud."

Dude, don't make me hit you. You deserve all the best in the world, including the best of friends. Also, you're endlessly talented with a camera. You should be getting a lot of recognition for your work.
