Anne: You want dumb? I proofread my thesis twice...and missed the fact that for the ENTIRE THESIS STATEMENT, I wrote the following: "This work is important because." Then I turned it in. Now that's serious stupid. ETA: So please don't beat yourself up. We all misread, miswrite, and misinterpret for any number of reasons. Thanks. It's frustrating, because my brain used to work better than that. As to your thesis, , you were probably exhausted, and at least you didn't write "I am a fish" four hundred times. Felt snow people are progressing. I'm waiting for the glue on the noses to dry, then I'll start making hats. Heh. So did mine. Hell, I used to edit for a living. Anne Lamott once said that children are born holding about one-fifth of your brain in their chubby little fists. So it's their fault! I always wondered about that, 'cause my mom is very smart, but can never find her keys, glasses, etc. And I think when you spend most of your adult life caring for/raising little people, the other stuff gets filed away until it's needed again. But it takes a lot of mental energy, methinks, to help them learn to navigate the world without getting hit by a truck, too heartbroken, or otherwise lost. You're using your intelligence for higher things than mere paperwork...

If you need another time-eater, Daniel Dae Kim does twitter. I, myself, have everything I need to devour every minute, and merely lack the stamina to complete them all. I did get whacky (this should have a pun warning, I suspect) yesterday and cut a bunch of plum root suckers which were IN my WAY, and also cleaned the living room rug while watching the H5O rerun. Julia, today, I swear, the Christmas tree! On set at #H50 Reiko turns to Daniel, and with complete conviction says "I don't need your protection, Jin." CUUUUTTT!!! #LOSTHee!

Things are being accomplished. I can haz nap now? Julia, 's hokay wiz me. I am currently vegetating in my chair, since lying down would involve getting the rest of my nightgowns folded and put away, plus dealing with a load of Franklin's shirts currently awaiting the wash. Julia, vertical vegetation < actual sleep but it is better than gathering more laundry, for instance.

So... I'm just going to muse for a while. Feel free to comment if you're so inspired or simply pass on by if you're so inspired.
Both my roommates are going to be leaving school, so I will end up being the only person living in this house soon. I don't know what's going to happen when the real estate agency finds out about this, I don't like working with them as much as I liked the landlord. Either I'm going to end up being the only one in this house until May or other random people, hopefully other students, but who knows at this point, are going to move in.
There's also the question of what I'm going to do after May. My lease ends in May. I'll be taking the boards in June and rotations don't start until August; now, I could probably stay on a couple of months if I asked, but this situation is becoming kind of weird, so I'm not sure if I want to. Trouble is, I don't have any better options at this point. It's a little tempting to see if I could stay at my parents in June, cause that would be free and they've certainly been hounding me about visiting Charleston again, but I'm afraid that, if I do, it'll mess up my mojo and I'll really need that to do well on the boards. I'd like to go RoadTripping around and visiting people in July, though I don't know whether I could or would want to spend the whole month doing that or not.
On a different, but not entirely unrelated, note, there's something I've been contemplating about my efforts to live more sustainably and more "green." Reconnecting to community and building relationships with others is a big part of sustainability, but I've been realizing that in some ways that living more sustainably ends up distancing me more from others and sets me more apart from the community around me, which is not so sustainably minded. Trying to eat meals cooked from scratch as much as possible when everyone else goes out for fast food 3x/day, for example. I'm not quite sure what to make of this contradiction.

That's how I've been spinning it. That being said: I didn't pass. So I'm thinking that neglecting to indicate what my thesis was about might have played a little role in that. Actually, they said so...not pointing out that particular deficiency in editing, but that the thesis itself struggled (and didn't succeed) indicating what it added to the literature...that the first half and second didn't mesh. Hence giving me an extended rewriting time. It was a "learn and grow" moment. That's a good way to put it, yes?
