A life watching TV? Sounds good to me. Can you tell us at all about your job, with out impinging on your privacy or job's privacy -- if that makes any sense? And where are you living, do you have neighbors and what social opportunity are you looking into (I always wanted to join a square dancing club). Frazzle - raffing proboards -- is still listing Julia's post at 11:43 as the most recent post (on the front page). Neither mine nor Spring's is showing up. Grr argh. I now work at a public library that has a much larger, and much different, patron base than where I used to work. Unfortunately, my job keeps me somewhat isolated in my office. I live in a nice apartment complex about half way between Denver and Boulder, so maybe I'll meet some people in the complex over time. It's a beautiful area and there are many things to do here, it's just a matter of meeting people so I don't have to do things by myself. I signed up for a martial arts class that starts next week, and I'm looking forward to that. I am also thinking about taking pottery classes; I have always wanted to know how to throw pottery. So things are starting to happen, but I tend to fall back on watching TV by way of habit. Yeah, me, too. I need to get a life in the winter. I tend to hole up with a cup of tea, the computer and television when it's cold outside.

Thesis-induced crazy of the day: I've officially used the word "diegesis" so much in my work that I think I might accidentally name my first child that. Your thesis sounds like a real page turner! But seriously, I do not know what this word means, but it doesn't sound fun. Just a min . . . I am going to look it up . . . and I get: A narrative or history; a recital or relation.I found a pronunciation also: www.howjsay.com/index.php?word=diegesis, so I could figure out if it would make a good name for your first born, and I think it could work for a girl - with your last name, she could be known as "Gigi." For a boy, he could be called "Gesis" for a nickname, but that could be kind of a cross to bear, so to speak. Hang in, Queen E.

So...one week into the elimination diet, and so far it's going better than I thought it would be. I keep having dreams that I accidentally eat something that I'm not supposed to and it messes everything up. But so far, I haven't had any problems cooking enough to satisfy me. I went out to dinner in Knoxville with some classmates this weekend, and despite me peppering the waitress with questions, she was very accommodating and we managed to find something on the menu that I could eat. The one thing that occurred to me after I started the diet is that without the milk/butter/yogurt and eggs that I normally eat, I've essentially been eating a vegan diet, as I normally don't eat a lot of meat due to the cost. So I've been making an effort to eat at least a little bit of chicken, turkey, or salmon to make up for it. I've also been drinking the alternative milks which are somewhat fortified, though they, too, are rather expensive. In case inquiring minds want to know, all the alternative milks have an off taste and in no way actually substitute for milk, but they have sort of grown on me. Oat milk and hazelnut milk taste the best, IMHO, then hemp milk. Rice milk strikes me as really expensive water. I used ground flax seeds as a substitute for eggs in a recipe, but it's not clear to me what they did, if anything. I've been using sorghum syrup as a replacement for honey. (I can't remember if I mentioned that before.) I haven't cooked with the various flours enough to have an opinion on them. I've had success with almond flour (http://www.nuttyguys.com/), although I use eggs in the bread and pancakes so you'd have to experiment with substitutes. Some ideas here. egg substituesHere's where I get my almond flour - www.nuttyguys.com/ It's the cheapest I've found and they regularly run 30% off days or free-shipping days. I'm not surprised that your diet is going well. You may feel like you're not eating alot and that it's more expensive because of the extra meat expense, but it's nutrient rich and most likely very satisfying because of it. It's probably cheaper in the long run because you aren't spending your money on "empty" caloried, but cheap, caloried foods. I've found that not eating sugar or processed foods have leveled out my hormones, too, so I don't get food cravings as often, or headaches, hot flashes, etc. It's a work in process, this redoing of my eating habits, and I'm not perfect with it. I did indulge during the holidays, but tried to keep it to healthy stuff - homemade food, and drank a lot of water with the extra sugary desserts. I really really miss beer, tho. I have maybe one every couple of weeks........golf season is tough without beer.

I have maybe one every couple of weeks........golf season is tough without beer. Good for you and all the dietary changes you've made! I wasn't really eating empty calories before, so this isn't much of a change. Luckily, this will only last a month and a half or so and then I can go back to eating the way I was before, perhaps with a few small changes. Thanks for the links...almond flour sounds interesting, but I'm not going to order any at the moment. One of my classmates gave me a bunch of flours leftover from when she did the elimination diet, so I've been working through those. And as far as egg substitutes, flaxseed still seems like the best one to use, though I failed to realize that I'm supposed to blend until the solution starts to look eggy. That might explain a few things.

So, who's watching the new season of RuPaul's Drag Race? Starts in 45 minutes! **claps and burbles like a giddy little girl** I guiltily admit I like both RuPaul's shows. DragU is hysterical too as the queens try to turn real women into divas.

Just finished my second original short fiction of the year so far. beccaelizabeth.dreamwidth.org/tag/originalsince that's two more than I managed to write in 2010 and equal to the whole of 2009 I figure I'm ahead on points. Not impressive on word count, and they're both just sketches to start a 'verse on, but is something. 2008 had six Torchwood fics, so that's my next target to beat. Given a few more months... Nice start. I like the imagery of the gel and the stars. Speaking of Torchwood, I finally saw the James Marsters episode on BBCA today. He returns, right? There was some awesome chemistry there...but there always is when JM is in the vicinity. I'm DVRing Scifi's version of "Being Human". I don't expect it to live up to the British version, but maybe I'll be surprised. Saw it. Liked the werewolf better, the vampire not as much and the ghost about the same. The story? What story? Well, okay, it has a few REALLY suspenseful moments. But I'm not dropping any spoilers for you. Go look and then we'll talk.

My only problem with that is that a boy called Gesis might be mistaken for Jesus. Just sayin'. But then you' ve all already thought of that.
