Yikes! West Coast S'cubies stay safe! Is your news media going nuts over the tsunami warnings?

Yikes! West Coast S'cubies stay safe! Is your news media going nuts over the tsunami warnings? Glad Sara et al are back from Hawaii. From what I've heard so far, the warnings start around Santa Barbara, and we're pretty far inland anyway. But I think there are S'cubies who live nearer the coast. In any case, it's a scary thing; I've lived here most of my life, and I've been through some major earthquakes, but I can't imagine an 8.9. In other news of annoyingness, we got tomcatted again last night, and the house reeks. I'm going to have to spritz Nature's Miracle around the outside doors again. I may need a bigger bottle. What's that song, "Love is in the air"?

It's my closest friends on facebook/ in 3D who are flipping out. The Programmer's daughter lives right next to a tsunami evacuation route sign in Hilo, and The Melvins, who were at the Churchill airport when that quake struck, were playing in Japan... both are OK now but yeouch. Julia, Sue, mother of Melvin's bass player, agrees that this tour has set a new record for weird geology.

Yeah, the tsunami effects, here, so far consist of high surf and damage to boats in the Santa Cruz harbor.
Mostly, the San Francisco news folks don't wig out over earthquakes and tsunamis. I was very glad to hear the three folks I know who are currently in Japan are fine (a friend's wife and two children, there for a month to visit her family).

I'm hoping to post pretties later so am reserving my HB's until then. LIZ-- when will you be in town next week? I do my next round of chemo starting Monday so my mornings will be tied up all week. Between that and the cold I've got I think Jim would totally freak out if I invited you to stay at the house (sorry) but I'd be happy to take you out to lunch or dinner if we can coordinate. I think Nashville has some youth hostels if that helps.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DIANE!!!!
Hope this gives you a little lift... Well, if doesn't work for Diane, at least it works for me. Has anyone ever seen the original Insomnia (not the US version with Al Pacino and Robin Williams) with his father, Stellan? It's kinda, weirdly hot...
