Need names! Julia, another long, long day. Molly, Rona and Vi. They ended up being Maggie, Terre, and Suzzy, in fact. Which sort of goes with Ian and Sylvia. Have a Dr. appointment/pick up prescription/order contact lenses in the middle of the day today, and then grab groceries and head home to work on the chicken housing thing. I need to get a rooster for the Roches, andhave to have a pen to use for quarantine, which means Ian and Sylvia need sprung from the chicken tractor. Onward and upward! Julia, although "back to bed" has its seductions

Husband went to work. Husband said maybe he'd see about getting an appointment to see the doctor.
I went out to run errands.
When I got home around 10:30, Husband was home. He has not called the doctor. He says he feels better.
I am giving him until tomorrow, which will be a week since he first got really sick and came home early. After that, it'll be incessant nagging until he gives up and makes an appointment.
Emily is home today. Kitty would've been home, but she decided to go play in the college library and have lunch at Monkey Business. The semester is almost over. Gah.
Anne, surrounded by family and feeling the walls closing in...

Great pics. Love sparrows. The sparrows at Ohio State, who were very used to being fed by the students in areas that had vendors and outdoor tables, would do the same as the birds in your pics. I remember how much Vince loved it when I would take him to campus, and we would eat outdoors at one of those tables. He was only about 4 or 5 yrs old, and just laughed and had a great time enjoying the birds flying around and landing near him and watching, etc. SPEAKING OF VINCENZO - I ordered more poster prints of his wall drawings. They are turning out great! I love being able to rehang the drawings, right where they were. And I've started hearing back on my child inquiries . . . and I heard about some children I did not even inquire about. I guess getting registered on that site has meant that some social workers take a look at profiles and then send your worker an inquiry about you. A woman in Virginia thought an adorable little 14 yr old girl on her list might be a good match for me, so even though I already have too many on my list, I told my worker to go ahead and send my info. I currently have about 4 agencies asking for my info for about 10 separate children. I had zero before today. Wow. I did not expect such a flurry of activity. And I'm still waiting to hear on about 5 of the inquiries I have in. Have yet to hear a peep on fostering. I can only assume that there hasn't been any need I could fill in the past 3 wks since I've been certified. I hate to hope for children to be in trouble so that I can start to foster, so I will just hope that some of the children who are already in the "foster to adopt" list, where I made my inquiries, will be good matches. I am getting more info now that I have made inquiries, and many of the profiles mention that the teens (they are all teens) can sometimes be "defiant" or "oppositional." Really? Teens? Defiant? Whodda thunk it? As long as we're not talking getting violent, I think I can handle it. In fact, I know I can. Oh! And also mentioned to me was that a teen "might not be grateful, right away." I guess they have to mention these things to set expectations, but I mean - this is not exactly surprising news. I would think most kids have to get into their 20s, and even start having their own children, before they truly understand and the idea of gratitude (maybe) enters their heads. I know I did. Well, enough ramblin'.

The shots on the bridge and of the bay are gorgeous! (As are you in the pic with you on the bridge - hot mama! **makes wolf whistle noise** ) Looks like you got to hit all the "must see" sights - Observatory, cable cars and steep steep hills, etc. What fun!! I haven't been to San Francisco since I was a kid - I'd love to go back. How was the training, by the by? What were you learning (or teaching)? Training was pretty good, but it turned out I already knew much of what the instructor went over. I did learn some new things, so it wasn't a huge loss. The training covered the advanced system inner-workings of our integrated library system. The instructor's last name was Depp, so like a huge dork, I asked her if she was related to the famous Johnny, and it turns out that she is married to his older brother. Coolio! I didn't completely dork out and ask for private details about him, at least. That is coolio. Not to be too much of a stalker-type (I would never consider such a thing!! ), but I googled on "Johnny Depp older brother" and found out his name was Danny, and here are two grainy pics of the two of them together: http:_//img15.imageshack.us/img15/5271/dannyjohnny2.jpg http:_//img15.imageshack.us/img15/5271/dannyjohnny2.jpg You'll have to copy and paste these into your browser URL field, and delete the space-underline after the http:, to see the pics. I didn't want to direct link the pics into our board, for all the reasons Patti forbade it. She'd probably still find a way to smite me, if I did. These pics were posted on some kind of posting board about celeb siblings (geez, there are posting boards about everything!). The post said he was a half-brother, though I have no idea how reliable that is. Can you get Johnny's phone number for me? Be subtle.

I looked a little more and found a post saying those pics were NOT of JD's older brother - that is some other guy, a friend of JD's. This is supposedly a real pic of him: http:_//files.list.co.uk/images/2009/02/19/daniel-depp.jpg This one does look more like JD, IMO.

Well, enough ramblin'. Lots of movement on the adoption front, then! Excellent! And yeah, I think they probably need to set expectations with new prospective parents - which is a good idea.
