Welcome to Part 1128 of the Soulful Spike Society [/center] Seriously, what comment could I possibly add that would make a Boba Fett/chicken costume funnier than it already is? So I'll just get right down to business: 1. Read and follow the rules.2. If you want to talk about stuff that's verboten on the main board, go here and chat to your heart's content. 3. Don't post spoilers anywhere but here. Otherwise we'll put you on a rotisserie over the sarlacc's pit. 4. Check out the great reviews and essays on the S3 home page. And that does it. So start with the posting already!

The world is all too much for me this morning, I do believe I'm going back to bed for an hour or six. Julia, not really, I have to chase cows at two, but I'm tired and resting is not evil, right?

Um. My granddaughter Lan is pregnant.
I know I announced it yesterday, but she just got back from the doctor, so it's official. I'm still trying to wrap my head around it.
Lan is pregnant. Nope. Still isn't going in.

Seriously, what comment could I possibly add that would make a Boba Fett/chicken costume funnier than it already is? Word. Truth. Hysterical picture. Really. And thanks for the new part.

Um. My granddaughter Lan is pregnant. I've yet to come up with anything useful to say about this situation, except it's good the XY in the situation isn't a butt, apparently. Sorry it's happening, if it hurts you? Julia, after trying several epigrams here, and failing to improve on the above, I give up

Diane: this may not mean much to you, but coincidentally, I was just thinking that all the dudes named Bob I've known over the years have been extremely nice, stable, good people. Just off the top of my head: one of my best friends in college was a Bob (he once gifted me with a tome called The Bob Book filled with interesting Bob-related trivia; I'll have to see if I still have it) and there is a library guru-type Bob I know who ALWAYS seems to know the answer when someone asks. I can't really think of any bad people named Bob. And it's such a nice name that even if you spell it backwards, and it still comes out right.

Thanks Sue, Julia. And here I was worrying that I talk too much... Diane, hugs and hopes that everything comes right in the end. Sue, I'm glad your wandering husband is home and safe. You must be very proud of your daughter. Emily is now looking at artificial intelligence design as a career, something I've always thought she'd be good at. Which means more and different classes, and longer in college. At my advice, she talked to her linguistics professor/informal advisor and got names of people to talk to in the computer department. She's also going to be her prof's TA next semester, and she's designing a class website for the prof. Which is all good experience, and she's loving it, but she'll be underfoot for at least another year. I love her, but... I finally got around to watching the second X-files movie, which I DVRed a while back off cable with commercials. Not much X-files, rather icky, but the Mulder/Scully was worth watching anyway. Next time it's just me, I'm watching something more fun, like the rest of Keen Eddie, or maybe Buckaroo Banzai.

Sorry it's happening, if it hurts you? Julia, after trying several epigrams here, and failing to improve on the above, I give up \ Well, my daughter and I discussed it. No, it's not what we would have wanted for Lan, but Lan is so happy as is the BF, so we've decided to be happy for her. I remember when Beth was pregnant and had NO support (except for me--and even I wasn't that thrilled) not from her father, in-laws or spouse(s). Lan will not experience that. Interestingly, everyone at work is congratulating me all over the place. So I've decided that it isn't MY choice, it's Lan's and anyway, anything having to do with a baby can't be ALL bad, right? Even my new, official BF is pleased about the whole thing. My granddaughter is pregnant. I think I'm beginning to come around to it.

Really, if that's the man's only flaw (and so far it is) how can one complain? He was all cuddles last night when I needed it and left with a smile when I asked. He's been sending little emails today. He's really a love and half. I'd love to see a Bob Book!
