Happy Earth Day! I'm hoping the Earth will be less windy today; of course I'm not washing bedding, so it won't be, right? Julia, nothing like hanging out a wet comforter at 45F and 25mph wind gusts

Um. My granddaughter Lan is pregnant. I know I announced it yesterday, but she just got back from the doctor, so it's official. I'm still trying to wrap my head around it. Lan is pregnant. Nope. Still isn't going in. and Best Wishes for a good pregnancy and a healthy great-grand baby. Lan sounds like she has a good attitude and has a supportive bf and family. It'll work out.

But I don't hang out laundry, so I can't complain too much...I'll wait until golf league starts next Tuesday to complain.

Greetings from deep in the heart of Texas. Presented my SPN paper tonight...I think Monnie would object at the fact that I didn't show more Cas pictures, but I think it went pretty well. Although please remind me not to break in new shoes on my presentation day... CONGRATULATIONS!!! How did it go? Did people seem receptive and interested? TELL ME EVERYTHING. I don't mind you not showing many Cas pics as long as you showed a lot of nekkid Dean pics.

Diane, SqueeMonnie, I don't even watch SPN and you made me chuckle. It looks like possibly grocery strike time again. Not going into politics here, but I won't cross picket lines unless absolutely forced to. So I'm stocking up on things I can only get at Ralphs - cat litter, because cats do not like change, especially in the commode, and their expressions of displeasure can be quite unpleasant, and my mom's special diet Vernors, which I remember having a lot of trouble finding at the non-struck market last time. I guess this weekend I'll be going around the house making a big list of other things that can't be substituted for. Also I woke up in the deepest pit of depression I've fallen into in some time, and I just know my mom will need comforting again today because she's having a sad week. And why not? As I pointed out to her, we're coming around to two years since that horrible Mothers' Day weekend when my dad was in the ER, and she's still finding people who have to be told that he's gone. So she has an excuse. Trouble is, I'm pretty much out of steam myself, and don't have much to spare for comforting other people, not that that counts for much. I'm supposed to be always helpful mindreading future-foreseeing wife/mother/daughter, and never ask for anything myself. Gah.

I would have wished she might have gone to college and maybe grown up a little, but it's a new life, so it can't be ALL bad, right? Or maybe this is the kid that'll bring about the apocalypse. The Evil Baby of Doom. With my bloodline, who knows? Her stepfather is being a major sh*t. He's all but called her a slut and he won't let me take Charlie for the weekend. Beth advised her to not take the ration, but to simply walk away and assures me I can have Charlie next week. Families. With them who needs soap operas?

She can still go to college, and the baby will give her an education in other ways. My niece is finishing up on her education, and her little boy (he's almost 2!) - well, he is the apple of all of his grandpa's and grandma's eyes - and extended family. It's not easy, but with a lot of help, it can work. But I share your wish that she would have enjoyed her young adulthood for a while longer before being smacked in the face with child-rearing. Oh, well. I am sure she'll take it in stride. Too bad her stepfather is taking out HIS frustrations on HER. I am sure all of his choices since childhood have been more than perfect. And aren't all babies potential BABIES of DOOM - no matter the circumstances?

Been feeling a bit down myself lately. 7 years since my brother passed and feeling a bit removed from my younger two boys' lives, especially the youngest, doesn't help. Plus, the dreary-ass weather. Blech. And coming on the 6th year anniversary of Patti's passing is making me all nostalgic.

Much too sterile and all the views of absolutely nothing -- in Denver no less -- don't like it.

They aired the supposed "winner" but I know they're going to contact me and tell me I am the real winner. Yup. Any day now. Just waiting. Any day.

I bet the sassy new shoes were totally worth all the pain.
