Shows to look into? Grimm (Fridays, 9/8c, NBC) Inspired by the classic Grimm's Fairy Tales, Grimm is a dark cop drama that stars David Guintoli (at left, with Russell Hornsby) as a homicide detective who discovers that fairy tales are coming true. And how is that there often seem to be 2 odd but similar shows that show up at the same time? (just above and just below) Once Upon a Time (Sundays, 8/7c, ABC) When Anna (Jennifer Morrison) finds a young boy on her doorstep who claims to be her son, she is drawn into a town where the magic and mystery of fairy tales may be real and hold the key to unlocking the mysteries of her troubled past. From Lost writers Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz, the series also stars Big Love's Ginnifer Goodwin (pictured) as Snow White and Lana Parrilla as the Evil Queen. Person of Interest (Thursdays, 9/8c, CBS) J.J. Abrams reunites with Lost actor Michael Emerson (pictured right), who plays a billionaire who recruits a presumed-dead CIA agent (Jim Caviezel, left) to catch violent criminals in New York City. Memento's Jonathan Nolan will also executive-produce. Ringer (Tuesdays, 9/8c, The CW) Sarah Michelle Gellar (right) returns to the CW as a troubled recovering alcoholic on the run from some shady characters. When she hides out by assuming the identity of her wealthy twin sister, she discovers one problem: Her sibling has a bounty on her head as well. Fantastic Four's Ioan Gruffudd (left), Lost's Nestor Carbonell and Life Unexpected's Kristoffer Polaha also star. [Not just SMG, but Ioan Gruffudd as well !!!!!!] [editorial comment: TVGuide.com has a list of 41 of the new shows and folks can vote thumbs up or down. Readers of TV guide online are clearly pre=disposed to be Lostie/Fringe types who are pretty unenthusiastic about sit-coms, rom-coms, female leads, and procedurals and in favor of anything with any kind of supernatural bent.] For example, this one got huge thumbs up, but it doesn't have me convinced: Terra Nova (Mondays, 8/7c, Fox) Jason O'Mara (left) stars as the patriarch of a family who escapes the overpopulation of a dystopian Earth and travels through a crack in the space-time continuum, which leads to a military-led camp on pre-historic Earth. Stephen Lang and Shelley Conn also star in the drama, from Jurassic Park's Steven Spielberg. The Fairy Tale theme is intriguing me. I wonder which show will turn out to be the awesome cool one that gets canceled and which will be the stupid boring one that runs for years? Also, NESTOR CARBONELL!!!!!!! **squees like little squeeing thing**

I did not know that Catherine Tate (DoctorDonna) was one of the "finalists" for Michael Scott's job on The Office! And also that ASH is in a new show : Free Agents (Wednesdays, 8:30/7:30c, NBC) Colleagues at a talent agency — one whose fiancée passed away (Kathryn Hahn) and a recent divorcé (Hank Azaria) — fall in love. Buffy alum Anthony Head reprises his role from the U.K. series on which this show was based. More Anthony Head on my TV screen is always a fab fab fab thing!

And I found out that unfortunately, it is TRUE.

Yay, becca OK! I am watching something called . . . I THINK, "Cat People" on the old movie channel. Pretty funky! Oooooh! The old-timey 50's black and white Cat People or the equally cheese-tasktic 80's Cat People complete with awesome Bowie song? **sings "I've been putting out fire . . . with gasoliiiiiiiiine!"** Yes, it just ended and it was definitely CHEESETASTIC. A classic, for sure.

Random: Sinbad and the Minotaur on SyFy tonight. ;D I hope the advertising company that dreamed up the "Imported from Detroit" campaign for Chrysler wins lots of awards. I've seen 3 in that series now and I think they are all top-notch. They've got a real powerful feel and much visual ooomph, don't they?

Those commercials really make me miss Michigan. *sniff* But I can tell you that those commercials are very CAREFULLY edited.

Very lovely / fun (if rainy and a bit cold) day. Did the final giving away of mom and dad art and photography out at the Arboretum - along with showing folks where the dedicated trees are and handing out directions to the Columbarium at Fort Snelling. So cool to chat with cousins and other folks. I love it when people pick out pieces of art that they really like. Oh, and several of the guys also took one of dad's hats, which was awesome! So dapper and delighted they were! Awwwwww...I love hearing about this. Are you feeling at all verklempt about giving away their things? What kind of hats did he collect?

Went to all day foster parenting training about parenting in the electronic age. The training was all about the effect of TV, video games, music videos, social media - particular on the vulnerable population of foster children . . . quite interesting, considering I was way behind the times on most of this stuff. Vince just was never much interested in any of that, and I sure wasn't interested on my own. So I didn't spend much time worrying myself about the influences of uber-violent video games, mysoginistic music videos, etc. Vince played chess, he read philosophy and physics books, he listened to some very odd alternative music and recordings of jaw harps. He watched almost no popular movies, zero TV, and the only video game I ever remember him playing was Centipede. So I learned quite a bit about what is out there these days. And I must say: YOWZA. Erm...you know that this board is considered social media....right??

2 girls flying in from different airports on different airlines. C is an hour late. Says plane was a bit delayed arriving but delayed another 30 min because they "couldn't" get wheelchair passengers off. Allie's airline emailed me hours ago -- a 90 minute delay due to "maintainance on a previous flight" -- thank heavens her friends are picking her up. Jim and I have already established that when we fly to Denver at the end of June I'm going to pay the extra $10 to get early seating so I can get an aisle seat near the front. Meanwhile, he will head to a window seat near the back, because --- that's what he always does when he travels. Sometimes it is NOT compromising but just doing your own thing that keeps marriages happy. We'll be together 72 hours in Denver and he'll work the whole way on the plane. Why sit together (either with one of us in a middle seat or with a stranger between us) rather than getting the seats we each prefer. ============ Wow! It was a loooooooooong week. At least we are only on page 4. If the weekend stays quiet I'll try to catch up on everything on Tuesday (Allie is staying through Monday) or Wed (Jim flies to Salt Lake and drives to Pocatello, ID) I do hope we get to see each other when you're here!
