Cookies, cookies everywhere... The girls went through most of three rolls of sugar cookie dough (Younger Daughter got bored partway through, but Elder soldiered on). Husband is adapting cookie recipes on the fly and making a horrendous mess of the kitchen. He's a development chemist, it's what he does. I ran away from home for a couple of hours this morning, to avoid the stress of thinking I ought to be helping. Then I went out and got lunch for everybody, and did a bit of washing up things they were finished with. Husband says he'll clean everything up (yeah, right : when he's finished (yeah, whenever that is). My work here is done, I'm going to lie down.

So I had an interesting night last night. This is the email I sent to my landlord this morning: ***** Last night I was awoken to repeated pounding on my door. I ignored it at first, thinking someone was at my apartment by mistake. Bright flashlights shined into my windows, finally making me realize in my half-awake state that someone REALLY wanted to get my attention. When there was yet another knock on my door, I opened it to see two police officers who told me that the resident in the apartment above mine "accidentally discharged a firearm." As you can imagine I was FULLY awake at that point. They wanted to enter my apartment to see if they could recover the bullet, which they believed had gone through the floor into my ceiling. !!!! They were unable to locate the bullet and one commented that they assume it went into a stud.
I feel EXTREMELY uncomfortable knowing that someone lives one floor above me with a loaded firearm that they "accidentally" discharged late at night (or any time of day, for that matter). Obviously, this person damaged the floor of their apartment, could have possibly damaged my apartment, and oh yeah ALMOST KILLED ME. I would like to know if he should be allowed to remain at Prana, and how you plan to handle this incident. *****
So I hear back from the landlord today that they are going to ask him to leave. Yes!! I guess he is the one that actually called the police, so that is good, at least. And the landlord said that there is concrete between each floor, so the chances of my being shot were slim. Um, yay, I guess.

Apparently Helen Mirren has expressed interest in being the next incarnation of Doctor Who. I don't even have the words to convey how awesome I think this idea is.

This place is so odd. I never see my classmates; I may as well still be on my own in Wyoming. I did eventually figure out who I'm sharing a bathroom with, though, so at least that's not so odd anymore.
Also, my current preceptor has a really thick accent and I'm starting to hear my inner voice with his accent. It's weird.

Husband got wore out and went off to lie down. I walked to the market for more containers for cookie storage, then cleaned up the kitchen. At least this way I'm sure the food processor got taken apart and washed; last time he said he'd cleaned it, it still had grotty stuff around the seal and ring on the base, as I discovered to my horror several months later when I wanted to use it. and also, ow, because everything aches.
