I think I am going to go with Chiana. Good choice. I'm doing my usual November hunker down right now; you'd think that I'd be sued to it by now, but it always hits me like an ambush, how early the dark comes when daylight savings comes. Julia, on the other hand, one day closer to the day the sun comes back... Patches was meowing at the door at what is now 4AM. The cats don't take well to changes in the meals schedule. Back from Aged Mum's. As I predicted, I walked into the closet, looked up, looked down, and immediately found the blue zippered hatbox, complete with the manila tag I had put on it, saying "Soft Winter Hats". Aged Mum, upon being presented with said hatbox, inquired querulously if I was sure her soft winter hats were in it. I tried to refrain from being snarky, but it was difficult. I then opened the box, and yes, I had labelled it correctly, and yes, the two hats she was all upset about losing were right in there. I then proceeded to find several of her jackets, although not the specific one she wanted, which is probably in the trunk with all the boxes of books on it, and a particular dress she was unable to locate. The trunk is going to have to wait. Perhaps I will tackle it on Thanksgiving, when all four of us are up there and I can get help with the heavy lifting. I'm afraid Aged Mum's mind is beginning to go; she can't always find the words she wants, although she's usually able to work around them and communicate more or less what she was aiming at. I don't know how much longer she'll be able to live on her own with caregivers, though. Not going to think about that anymore today, though, as I am already stressed too far. Also, neither of my Ratbag Siblings called or sent AM a card for her birthday. At least she isn't blaming me this year, yet. I thought about contacting Ratbag and reminding her, but seeing how well that worked last time, I decided it wasn't worth the aggravation. Basically, I called Ratbag to say that IF she was thinking of getting Dad a gift, that he could use a corduroy shirt. Ratbag proceeded to call Aged Mum (not, mind, me) and ream her up one side and down the other because I was "officious". Aged Mum then called me and said that while she didn't hold it against me, how dare I upset her Precious Special Snowflake, etc etc etc. It was years ago, but I learned my lesson. If Aged Mum wants to hear from her precious babies, Aged Mum can call them. Anyway, S'cubies

Speaking of Teh Kewt, The Denisof family at Hallowe'en is pretty damned extreme in its themed cuteness. Julia, and somehow I suspect Alexis is the driving force in the dress-up. Very VERY cute!! Alexis is driving force, you think? Perhaps he missed dressing up when he lived in England. I miss him on my TV. He is another Whedon alum that isn't getting the roles he should.

Hopefully Castle will have the good sense to tie things up in 5 or 6 seasons rather than drawing it out (I'm looking at you Bones) and then a buddy show with Alexis and Nathan would be fun.

Did gas prices ever come back down in CA? We heard all about 5 and 6 dollar gas but gas around here is down quite a bit (locally around 3.24 from a high of maybe 3.79 earlier in the year).

Hey! Morning!
I'm about ready for a nap, myself, but Ruby is not accepting Standard Time as an excues not to drag me out of bed an hour before my alarm goes off.
New H50 tonight. And Top Chef Seattle starts this week: at 10pm Wednesday, along with eighty-agzillion other shows I want to watch, and the only one I do (Nashville).
Julia, I thought linear time was supposed to exist to stop everything from happening at once?

Julia, I thought linear time was supposed to exist to stop everything from happening at once? Jim was in Detroit Wed, Thur and Friday nights (EDT), then returned to Central Time just in time to fall back another hour to CST and goes to Denver, another hour back tomorrow night. So he is up early early. Me, I'm off to treatment this afternoon and the rest of the week and usually sleep well when my body is thusly assaulted (one of the upsides). Forgot to call my new DIL for her birthday Sunday (sent the card and gift and then just forgot the actual date) but they called to say "thanks for the gifts" so we talked with them. Tom wanted to confirm the wedding date which was also embarrassing -- really? her own brother wasn't sure the date had been confirmed? They are the only family members not actually IN the wedding. Learned that April 13 is a big ACT testing day which might affect her favorite cousin (and one of Andrew's sisters?). Too late to make any changes in dates and you can only take so many considerations into account -- who would even think if checking testing dates. One aunt can't come because she works with tax preparers and can't get that date off. Well, will a guest list of potentially over 300 I'm not worried about anybody who can't come. I hope LOTS of people have conflicts because we'll still have 200+ of our "close personal friends/family" there I'm sure.

Didn't fall asleep until nearly 3. Both Bobman and I are zombified today. Did make it to gym and do cardio, but real workout skipped. Bad us.
Nap now?

Imagine if you will... no, on second thought, don't. Julia, so very weddingphobic

Great idea! Oh, and apropos of nothing, I just read that Kristen Bell and her partner Dax Shepard are having a baby. I am very happy for them. They are both native Michiganians...Michiganders, er... from the Mitten.

Yes, I saw that story about Kristen being pregnant too! Our little Veronica is growing up! The story said that she and Dax have been together since 2007, but won't marry until California allows gays to marry. Which . . . well, I have conflicting reactions to that, but they probably all belong on the OT thread.

Also appreciate that Person of Interest has been adding tiny bits of very dry humor (it fits well with the 2 lead characters). "Disguising" John with a pair of glasses and the whole "he's Superman hiding in plain sight with the reporter" was quite amusing.
